When Is Bangkok Shutting Down?

A frequent question asked on the Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page is "When is Bangkok going to shut down?". Players want to know how more days are left to complete it. Zynga didn't give us the exact date but we got a few clues and can use deductive reasoning to estimate. We were told on the Official Mafia Wars Blog that next weeks Mission next weeks Mission is called Betrayal in Bangkok and that the city is shutting down.

New Mission Event: Betrayal in Bangkok
This may be your last night in Bangkok, but one night can make the world your oyster. The city is shutting down so you'll need to raid it while you still can.

Lately the pattern of Missions has been that the new Mission starts a few hours after the old one expires. The current Mission, The Ties That Bind will expire on Wednesday at 12pm PDT, about two and a half days from now so Betrayal in Bangkok will probably start sometime before 5pm on the same day.
They didn't say Bangkok would shut down as soon as Betrayal In Bangkok expires but this is exactly what happened in Cuba and Moscow. The Cuba Mission Lasted about 7 days and Moscow was 8 days.
Missions have had timers of 9 or 10 days lately so if a pattern is followed we can assume that Betrayal in Bangkok will last anywhere from 6 to 10 days.  Unless Zynga extends the Mission time, we can expect Bangkok to close sometime between August 3rd and August 7th.
In Cuba and Moscow there was 5X mastery during the Missions. Hopefully this also apply to Bangkok so players get the chance to complete it and get the skill points and mastery items. For suggestions on things you can do, go here.

    I think they most likely will get rid of Bangkok this time. If you remember, shortly after Moscow was shutdown, Bangkok had it's event and a lot of people freaked as they weren't completed with it. It never shutdown. Now here comes a second event for it, so it probably will this time.

    no interest in completing bangkok, too much energy required for the skill points gained, seems like time wasted. bring on the new cities.

    i could never get enough cash to finish bangkok so if they shut it down no big deal i think they should pay out more cash on jobs in the near future would help people finish the game

    So my question continues to be...this mission will not require Bangkok Inventory items????

    Can I sell them all off and spend the money on health refills while fighting?

    you can wire transfer your baht in Vegas.. Use them to heal.. Even closed we are stillable to use cuban and moscow money in vegas vault...

    My suggestion... Don't lower costs. Don't change a thing! Make it one of those amazing areas that people who have played for YEARS, or will play for years, get to feel like they've 'accomplished.' I'm still willing to spend the time on them!

    They drop a city (or two!) and leave things that can't be finished. I still dream that I can do enough anti 'Neo-Imperium' jobs to re-open Cuba and Moscow. (Yeah, I know the difference between dreaming and reality.) Add your new city and leave the old one alone? Let people who WANT to, actually work to re-open the already closed ones? (Sorry. If anyone has a defined, non storyline, 'real world Zynga' explanation for closing ANY city, please let me know.)

    I have some sympathy for a new player who just started a few months ago and finds Bangkok hard to finish. Anyone else I have zero sympathy for now. You have had months of extra time to get the baht and finish the city. My advice for some time for folks who needed baht was do the icing event in Bangkok. You get ices and baht if you are smart enough to bank it

    people in order to finish bangkok and get the $B you need just sell the useless items in city store you are not using in the current episode. That is one option

    when Zynga wanted to close bangkok last time, they gave us more time cause so many players weren't finished. BUT they actually wrote that bangkok will close, it's just postponed. so the first thing i did was finish bangkok. i don't get why most of you complain that they can't finish in time. we got the notice half year ago...
