Raven Achievement To Be Removed and Sniper Shot Drop Rate Tripled!

I was thrilled to read this post on the Official Mafia Wars Blog. As promised, changes were made involving The Raven. The drop rate of Sniper Shots will be tripled and that ridiculous achievement requiring us to beat him 100 times will be removed. These changes should go into effect sometime tomorrow night.

1) The Sniper Shot drop rate will be tripled.


2) The third achievement, "Requiescat in Pace Centesimus," will be removed. (Note: Anyone who already accomplished this achievement will get to keep it.)


I laughed that they said anyone who already has it can keep it. The only place I've seen this achievement completed is the Mafia Wars Wiki.
I've only killed The Raven 5 times and it's so nice to know that I won't have to wait for him to come 95 more and I can pace myself.
This is an excellent example of the powers of Get Satisfaction. Players use it to ask questions and share ideas. Zynga uses it to get feedback and if enough players respond, it gets on their radar. This was definitely a success story for all those who participated.  Go here to view the thread that I started 9 days ago.

    I did not mind the long term 100 times achievment if I could actually do the thing. Now that they will actually drop some sniper shots I can kill the raven every time he shows up.
    Before it was just a silly RP vanity plate. Nice that Zynga likely got some revenue out of this before letting us non-RP folks get in on it.

    this is v good news, great work to get Centisimus removed. And the Raven doesn't take all the ammo when he leaves, which is not what I understood would happen at the start. Raven has been 3 times now in his second incarnation and I've collected only 13 sniper shots in that time. Maybe next time I'll be able to land a blow and get moving on Decimus.

    Hah. Tripled = 6 shots per Raven appearance instead of 2 (even with hundreds of ices). It'll still take me a year just to get the 10.

    Triple of zero drop rates really don't help that much. I've gone thru 300+ icings and never saw one the last time he appeared. Guess 3 x 0 still is 0 in my book!

    I got the Raven tonight and 0 Sniper Shots dropped. As the previous player said Infinty x 0 is still undefined.

    Personally I had no problem with the achievement apart from the ridiculous drop rate of the ammo and possibly the three day wait between fights. It can be good to have something to work towards that just may take some time instead of always living in a world of instant gratification. Did you even stop to think whether we will still be able to fight the raven and get the reward which has pretty decent stats beyond the 10 times required for the remaining achievement? I've beaten the Raven 6 times now so I guess in a couple of weeks I'll be back to looking for something new to do. Sorry Jen, I read your blog daily and usually love your work, but I can't congratulate you on this one. Classic case of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

    Fighting him now. No snipers are dropping. And I even unlocked the red combo before but it's not showing now. Do they change the red combos each time he appears?

    3 x 0.1% = 0.3% drop rate, still not good at all (they should crank it up to a few percent at least, otherwise it wouldn't help in keeping veteran players from quitting)

    me from 3 posts above, started raven exactly the same time as ice week, raven has appeard right away, im halfway through diamond tier 3 and its only 2.5 hours into the fight, drop rates are ok for other stuff but no snipers at all, bullshit zynga
