Ice Season Review

Share:

I had some time to check out the Icing Seasons Event and found a few interesting facts. There is a Current Event Module on the Home Page that somewhat tracks your progress (it fails to tell your total number of ices but you can calculate them based on your ice count for the tier and the rewards shown below).
The question mark gives a few details. This event will be a recurring weekly thing and the mastery rewards will not be given until the current event is over. We will get badges that will appear next to our Mafia Wars name. The most interesting thing is that frequent ices on the same target will be "melted" and not count towards the event.
We get different types of rewards as we progress through the each tier of mastery. When you reach a certain number of ices on each tier, you get the rewards listed below.
The rewards will be shown on the bottom of the Fight Module with all the other rewards. If you click too fast, you will probably miss them.
You also get the mastery item but that won't be added to your inventory until the event is over.
If you attack the same target too many times, the Bully Throttle is triggered and further ices to that target will not count towards mastery.
I'm not sure what the number is but it seems like quite a few. I attacked my energy account with a different energy account that had not attacked anybody else and was able to get to the third level of the Gold Tier with 5 more ices needed to get to the forth level. This calculates to be a total of 55 ices.
Kills count for two ices towards mastery. You can see in the screens below that I had 5 ices and after the kill, I had 7.
We have a little over 6 days to get as many ices as possible and it's not going to be easy. The fightlist is about 90% dead and if you're lucky enough to find a living target, somebody usually steals your ice. If you use the Assassin-a-Nator and all you care about is ices, it's best to fight in any destination except Brazil, turn the Revenge option off, reduce the number of attacks to the same target, and uncheck "Cash from same city". We've tested this and you get more ices with the Revenge feature disabled. The reason is that many of the players who steal your ices are also using the Assassin-a-Nator and are auto healing so you end up spending more stamina to ice them.

Thanks to Kent from the Mafia Wars Gods for the Diamond Level screen shot. I'm not quite there yet!

  1. Why not use Revenge in Assassin-a-nator? They are probably lower in health than a fully charged 1-2K+ player. So less stamina would be used no?

  2. That varies a lot. I think manual fighting is best to get the most ices/stamina, and then one can take a look directly at eventual ice thieves and see their health/level and thusly either ice them or keep on. I love this "event type", and I'm very glad it's an individual thing.

  3. I think it would be better to target the top 4 families as they do autoheal. Let's you ice 50 players from each family 50x, that's 2500 ices. Just doing half is ok and would get you Diamond. Their SS is already passed around. This is their chance to help others for the event by continuing to auto-heal. They already won on the last event so let everyone else win for this event. The least they could do.

p/s I don't know if this will be approved by LL.
p/s2 The bully limit has been raised to 50 as confirmed by CM on the forums.

  4. Any idea on where to go and open the booster packs? I know the boosts are mostly crap, but I haven't seen anywhere in inventory where these are recorded.

  5. You don't want to attack autohealers, they heal before they get iced. I was running Assassin-a-nator and ended up attacking one autohealer over 5000 times without icing him. (made for excellent win/loss ratio though).

With a high enough health and Brazil mastery, it takes more than the 45 second healing cooldown timer for Assassin-a-nator to reduce their health.

  6. Will you get the mastery item as soon as you start the tier or at the end of the tier? I was concerned about the diamond level. I can make the first few parts of diamond but I doubt I'll get to 1000 per week.

  7. Did what LL said and turning off revenge and attacking those outside of the city helped. Went from less than 10 ices per 1500 stamina to 40-50. I'm 12 ices away from the diamond level but I don't know about 1000.

As to my question above, anonymous @ 7:02am: you have to finish the tier to get the level or you get the previous tier. Not as clear in the description above but Zynga's customer support page gives the info.

  8. I had the same question about the mastery item...here is what I found:
Q: How do I get a grand prize item?
A: You will receive one grand prize at the end of each season. Your grand prize is determined by the number of ices you have at season’s end. For example, if you have 180 ices, you will earn the ruby-colored grand prize or the gold-colored grand prize for 179 ices.

So it looks like the only way to get the diamond level grand prize is to get 1000 ices.

  9. so, what's really count for the bully? is it the attacks, or the ices? as i only have one ice account. ;P

  10. regarding the bully thing, it's on their blog. one particular account can ice another at max of 50, beyond that would be considered as bullying and won't count to mastery. the count reset at beginning of the next season.

so, if anyone is going to use ice account, the amount needed for ruby mastery is 4 and 20 for diamond. :)

  11. Is everyone getting 2X ices for kills? I'm using assassin-a-nator and get credit for the ices, but nothing for the kills.

  12. i did this 5 hours ago and once you get to the end of diamond mastery, it stays on 0 ices left, could of done it quicker but am helping out my clan to get their own tally of ice counts, not sure how much length of time you have to wait to attack the same people that trigger the bully thing, its a bit of trial and error,it let me ice the same people untill the ice didnt count, then i iced a different set of players, then went back to the original set of people and the ice counted again, one thing i do know... you cant credit card your way out of this one lol

  15. I don't use Assassin-a-Nator or Battlefield. I use what is called,
Unlocked Toolbar with Sniper, and I have tripled my ice count.

  16. I use my click finger which has now become very strong and finished the 1000 ices in 4 days. My stamina is 3000ish
