Zynga Ignores Easter

Share:

It's officially Easter Sunday in the Zyngaland Time Zone and many are shocked that there is no Easter themed event. I'm not surprised by this as the reason is probably a combination of too many current events, an angry player base because of too many events and a lack of design and development time (also because of too many events). The overall message this sends to those unaware of the reason stated above is that Zynga no longer cares about Easter. This is the third Easter since Mafia Wars has been in existence. Last year there was Easter overkill and Thugs Bunny was a busy guy. Check out his stats! One year ago, he was one of the top Armor items to own.
There was a Marketplace Promotion called Mafia Wars Easter Egg Hunt and you had to buy 7 Marketplace items to win prizes including 100 Reward Points and Thugs Bunny.
The Easter Crime Basket Event was the type of event where your objective was to master the Easter job. Experience, mastery, collection items and Thugs Bunnies were the rewards for doing the three jobs.
There was a Easter Crime Basket Crew Collection. For reasons unclear to me this collection can currently be found on your Special Collections Page and not the Crew Collections Page.
For the obsessive types out there, all of the Eggs in this collection are giftable and still show up on the Secret Stash job popups.
The "How Eggsciting" achievement wrapped up the 2010 Easterpalooza. If you gained 100%  mastery on the Easter job and vaulted the Easter Crime Basket Collection, you got the achievement and a Skill Point.
Easter of 2009 wasn't as elaborate. The old Limited Time Offers feature in which you had to gain a certain number of mafia members to buy a loot item with $10,000 New York money offered a Easter Egg Bomb.
I'm not complaining about the lack of a Easter event. We all suffer from Event Fatigue and I would have thrown up if I got a "You found something easter related" pop-up. If Mafia Wars is still here for Easter of 2012, Zynga should give up events for Lent. 45 days without an event would be a dream come true for many players!

U do realize there are playwers who DO like all these events because we have finished ALL other aspects of the game except for repeated missions/operations..

  2. The event of last year's Easter sounds very funny actually - lots of different stuff to do and no gift/popup-spam. I'd love to get more of those events in the mix.
I wouldn't mind 1 or 2 events running all the same time, if they'd mix them up and wouldn't repeat one gifting event after the other.

  5. my dear,
not all mafia wars players are christian, and its not right to ask zynga to STOP events for LENT! If ur a true christian, its about having OPTIONS and then RESISTING the urge.
As u can see, u do NOT represent the whole community when u say, "we all suffer from event fatigue"... thats quite a irresponsible thing to say, and u've miscalculated, and MISSED the whole point.
What zynga needs to do is give players more options whether to patricipate or not. A hundred different players may play at different times and under different circumstances. Some might've been busy and finally log on to play, and if this is how ur representing the PAC on behalf of ALL PLAYERS, then people like that would have nothing much to do for 45 days during lent. And they can be people of different faiths or even without a faith.

PAC must be more responsible on what it suggests.

  6. I'd like to see the return of this type of event in-place of the endless barrage of spam gifting events. Also, this collection shows in special events cause that's what this was - it's not a crew collection (despite the graphic and we all know zynga's lack of proofing things)
