I've posted too many of things to count yet I still see them in my news feeds all the time. If a news feed post does not say "via Mafia Wars by Zynga", it's not from Mafia Wars and is a scam. As long as you see via Mafia Wars by Zynga at the bottom of the post, it's ok to click on the link directing you to the task.
The latest batch of spam applications going around are offering Harbingers and Deadly Spider Bites. These applications are NOT from Mafia Wars and you will look like a fool to your friends if you click on them and do as they request. Thanks to Byron and Deema for the screen shot below.
The Harbinger is offered only to players who have achieved Diamond Status in the Loyalty Program and the Spider Bite is for sale in the Marketplace for 25 Reward Points. If you click on these posts and generate spam, your mafia members won't be impressed with you for believing that Zynga would just give these items away.
What you can do is go to the Facebook page of the scam site and report it. The link after the word "via" will take you there and that's safe as long as you don't go to the application. In the Harbinger scam, the application page is called "Come And Get" or "Settin it Here". Click on that link and block and report the page for

seen to may people fall for this 1 today its sad really when you think about it
ReplyDeleteIt is sad, and yes I took it seriously for a moment. With all the changes over the last few days, I thought maybe. Then my virus filter blocked me from following the link. It's a little less stupid than the get a ton of RP by spamming your friends thing that goes around.
ReplyDeletePeople just have nothing better to do than mess with people. No life..
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have always been aware of this but never knew how to explain it as simply as you have to my clan. I appreciate what you have done here and have shared the link.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. Anyone know if the "home feed collectors" in tools such as MW Addon will pick up the scam feeds?
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen for the information I am a couple of days late in reading cause I have been out of town. Keep up the good work we appreciate you !!!
