Yesterday I told you about images from meetups around the world that were posted on the Official Mafia Wars Blog. If you examine some of these images closer, you will find some interesting things that may help us fully understand what Zynga considers cheating. All three images below were taken right off the Official Mafia Wars Blog. The first image from Denver shows a Mafia Wars game that is unframed and the Checklist by Team Spockholm as well as Pistol Pete are visible.
The next image from the Raleigh, NC features a Player Scripts Mafia Wars Auto Player sticker.
The last image from Phoenix, AZ gives one the impression that Zynga is in love with the Mafia Wars Auto Player. We see a player wearing a T-Shirt with a prominent MWAP logo alongside Alex who is a developer from the MWAP and a member of the Mafia Wars Player Advisory Committee. Alex chose to wear his PAC T-Shirt as all of his MWAP T-Shirts were at the dry cleaners.
Ironically the post below the one mentioned above is the infamous "Cheaters never prosper! post that still doesn't define what cheating is. It says accounts were banned for "abusive botting". IDoes this mean regular "botting" is ok? From the images above, one might assume yes. No wonder we are so confused!
It would great for the community if Zynga would clearly define their stance on scripts and what is considered cheating. Not doing so causes unnecessary panic leaving some players afraid to use them which in effect leaves the playing field unbalanced. This is a very gray area and nobody can say for sure if using scripts will or won't get your account banned. If you look at the Section 1.9 of the Terms Of Service, you will notice that with the last update an interesting adjective was added to third-party software. It now says "unauthorized third-party software. Does this mean Zynga has a list of authorized third-party software (ie, scripts)? If so, will they ever release it so that we the players will have a better clue as to what is considered cheating? I'm tired of the worn out response "Use at your own risk" when ever someone asks about the subject.
Thanks to Happy Fair for spotting the unframed Mafia Wars game on the Official Mafia Wars Blog.

Attention: We have detected abnormally high levels of activity on your Mafia Wars account.
Your account has been flagged for an internal review, and may be subject to sanctions including statistical adjustment, item removal, and temporary or permanent suspension. If you have questions about this message, visit Suspension/Warning FAQ or contact our Customer Support team and be certain to include "MWAutomationWarning-TOS1.9" in your email.
This is your warning number 1 about a violation of Zynga's Terms of Service, section 1.9. Future violations of the Terms of Service may result in more severe sanctions against your account.
While things are in a state of confusion i respond to the script question use at your own risk but dont use ose em to sit on players but to avoid clicking.
ReplyDeleteTraders are routinely getting their accounts suspended because we send massive amouunts of stuff using chucker.
this sucks if you dont tell me what the rules re i cant play the game
i have to remove all useless loot from my account! Should i do it manually ? It was crazy sending thousands of loot manually!!
ReplyDeletethe zyn-goons eating their own words..how typical.
ReplyDeletePop an antacid afterwards coz those are hard to digest.lmfao
Zynga is complicit with all this auto-play/bot garbage. it would be different if Zynga simply said they endorse this type of play, but they steadfastly maintain that they do not.
ReplyDeleteThe audacity of duplicity in all likelihood explains why a game that once enjoyed 7 million players a day a few months ago is now dead at less than 2 million a day.
The failures at zynga in charge of MW decisions were warned long ago by several, but they lacked the nards to take the needed steps to cure MW's ills and/or were/are complicit in the corruption.
Let's face it: the people spending the most money on Mafia Wars are probably the same people using bots. Does Zynga want to alienate these people? Of course not.
ReplyDelete"Let's face it: the people spending the most money on Mafia Wars are probably the same people using bots. Does Zynga want to alienate these people? Of course not."
ReplyDeletegood point. i wonder if the "big money" bot users offset all the lost others? 5 million others. think about that now.
"i wonder if the "big money" bot users offset all the lost others? 5 million others. think about that now."
ReplyDeleteHuh? Are you suggesting that the reason so many people have left the game is because others use scripts? As opposed to, I don't know, the numerous bugs, spinning bullets, failed page loads, existence of different versions of the game for different players, non-stop spam events, etc.???
i am saying many big money players have left the game because of certain botting/cheating high level players zynga will not touch. word drops down, thyough perhaps not to 5 million.
ReplyDeleteit is never all one thing, but the fact that zynga is corrupt, in addition to being feckless, is a large factor in lost revenues and lost players.
as zynga was told long ago about not taking action against paying cheaters, in the long run it is better to firm up the foundations around players that p[lay by whatever rules ynga puts down rather than continue to build a structure resting on the infirm foundations of those so willing to blatantly violate Zynga's Terms of Service.
So now when Zynga's now once mighty MW empire crumbles to the ground in unadulterated failure no sympathy can be found here, but if Zynga is looking for sympathy it can be found between "shit" and "syphilis" in the dictionary
On the link I provided you were able to find the information necessary to know why your account has been suspended. Being specific, and according to the research I made, your account has been banned due to violation Zynga Terms of Service 1.6c and 1.9d.
ReplyDelete1.6 refers to Use of the Service and there on literal c says that "You shall not have more than one Account, per platform or SNS, at any given time, and shall not create an account using a false identity or information, or on behalf of someone other than yourself" 1.9 refers to License Limitations and on literal d says that "Use cheats, exploits, automation software, bots, hacks, mods or any unauthorized third-party software designed to modify or interfere with the Service, any Zynga Game or any Zynga game experience".
thank you zynga, i hope you lose all your customers and player until is GAME OVER!
If Zynga really bans every script and bookmarklets, 90% of the players will be gone and the ranking will drop to rock bottom
ReplyDeleteZynga must have considered this deeply and let go abit although laws had been imposed to ban botting
Actually, zynga earns more when people play illegally eg botting
these players are serious to it and are willing to pay more for reward points
They have always been against TOS. It is Zynga’s game and they will change or enforce the rules as they please. Threats of bans, actual banning has done a great deal to strengthen the commitment of players to both the game and one another. We create groups, spam Zynga's complaint departments pleading for the return of "the most outstanding player" in the game over and over.
ReplyDeleteHow about the Zynga "created" profiles we have waged many wars over? Many social aspects drive the game not the clicking. Are not the true long time hardcore players also at war with Zynga for one reason or another all of the time? One more necessary aspect of a game of war.
Instead of perpetrating animosity, we created Mock wars and cuddled up with Zynga thinking if we tickled, their ears all would be good. They blew up our skirts and made no REAL promises. We felt faint, our heart went pitter-patter, and we believed this could be "the one."
Too many have deserted the war efforts, and all for exactly the same reason. They no longer receive the necessary amount of enjoyment playing Mafia Wars to keep coming back.
All software has a life cycle. The real question should be what Zynga’s Life cycle assessment for Mafia Wars is.
Cudos to those that continue doing whatever they can to keep the game going. It is very much appreciated successful or not. Spock On!!

ReplyDeleteI think it is more then time that we all took of our mask and show who er realy are are , any given high levels players of fighters is using some form of script , not that we stop lying to ourself as being an offended virgin , we must face the fact that any regular player is using it period. Hte fact is is would be boring and so time consnsuming that anyone would just give up on the game.
Further more it prevent over abusing script , like repreated hitting the same player over and over agains , prevent loot stelling ,let stop kidding ourself in making beileive that we are better then others because more often then anything when your pointing the fingers to someone always remember there 1 pointing at the person and 3 pointing at you....
If I write script by myself, it may not be a THIRD-party software?
ReplyDeleteHmm, reading the clause carefully, it does not limit to only unauthorized 3rd-party sw. It says "automation software" OR "unauthorized 3rd sw", that mean "any" automation sw, regardless of 3rd-party or not, authorized or not, will be considered to be against TOS.
ReplyDeletesry, my speaking very poor. first visit to site, great great post.
