It looks like all those older gift links will no longer work. Many players are getting the message that "This gift has expired" when attempting to open gift links form the past. Aurélia sent the following image to me from a gift that was one month old. For those of you who hunt for old gift links, please comment on what gifts you are trying to open if you get this message. Also let us know how old they are.

ReplyDeleteGifts generally expire after 2 weeks.....at least they used to before, since that is the message I used to get up until last summer, if I remember right....
ReplyDeleteI can get an link if i have not got a gift from that person in the last 24 hours. But I can not collect multiple links from teh one person - new or old. It was good while it lasted. . .
ReplyDeleteit seems like that 15 day limit is there - you can get multiple gifts if the links are over 15 days old. beyond that, you are playin hit or miss - I had some Italian hardwood links that worked, but red mystery bag links would not. Im just peeved that something thats useful gets taken away.

ReplyDeletei can claim gift up to 05 Feb 2011 as of 0045 (GMT+8) 06 MAR 2011 [or 0845 zynga time 05 MAR 2011]. links dated on and before 04 Feb are all turned as expired as picture in your post.

@the Whale: fighting in Moscow is much different than the other cities. The amount of damage you give to your opponent depends on your attack skills. The more skillful you are in attacking, the bigger the damage you give. You're having a hard time icing in moscow because most of players today have at least 2000 defense. Not to mention those very healthy players out there. Say 3000 health. I suggest you do it manually. Brawler is slower, and they could have healed before you get to ice them. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've been able to determine, the new magic timeout is 4 weeks, or 28 days. I was in the habit of collecting from back in December to get loot that's no longer currently available, and that capability ended late last evening. At that time, I was still no longer able to collect any gifts 28 days old or older.

ReplyDeleteThis appears to be totally correct. I had old gift links in my notes going back to October last year which friends were using to complete building in Italy and LV.
ReplyDeleteWe have carried out numerous checks and all of my old links now say expired.
We think this is to do with all the forthcoming changes, Cuba Moscow and Bangkok will be gone and they will be changing a great deal more including free gifts I suspect!
It was nice while it lasted though!
whale: make a 'friendly' acct and attack that. You can even have 2 accts open in different browsers. Heal the friendly after you ice it.

ReplyDeleteI am in a group where members share gift links. After 40 collects on a gift link it would disable. However it would come back to life after a month. It was possible to collect from the same person, certain items from the same day, when collecting from Notes. Also if the person had several days of links posted you could collect many gifts from them on the same day, but from links on diff days. Also Terracotta Tiles & Stone Columns links older than Dec 23 still produced them instead of recently, mystery bags.

The recent changes have affected the way links work.
even a gift of 1 minute old now seems to expire as you cant collect any at the moment. Not a singlemask is able to attempt on to your counters.
ReplyDeleteBefore Zynga ADDED the PIG error messages I was able to collect on gifting links going back as far as October 2010 mainly for Terracotta Tiles, Stone Columns and now all I get from those links is that rubbish 'expired' crap.
