The "Slow Down" Petition

Share:

You may see the following link asking you to sign a petition floating around in your news feeds.  To view the petition, go HERE.
The petition is titled "Slow Down Zynga" and states the following.

To:  Mafia Wars Players
This Petition is to show the Zynga Gaming Company that we as players would like to have a voice in the madness that our game has evolved in to!! We would like to have it known that all the changes to the game in the past few months have made it nearly impossible to just sit back and enjoy the game that we love and spend our hard earned money on. We have seen many many long time players of the game just up and quit because we have to do somethings that should have nothing to do with Mafia Wars like farming and collecting collections that without them we would not be able to keep competition with players that have all day to play the game.

I would like to thank everyone that has signed this Petition and you have my word that I will do everything in my power to make sure that Zynga gets our message that we are unhappy with the way the game is evolving!!
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

I sent this link to a representative of the Mafia Wars Community Management Team and was given the following Official Statement.

We have been working hard to release a lot of our initiatives before the end of the year.  We appreciate everyone's dedication to the game and understand that this is a lot to take in all at once.  Our objective is to improve the overall gaming experience, knowing that any changes we make will not be welcomed by everyone.

Please understand that there are business objectives that we must meet in order to continue to provide this gaming experience.  As we prepare for the New Year, we are going to be experimenting with ways to involve you, as the Mafia Wars Community, in the future development of the game.  With out you as players, we wouldn't have a game.

When we ask for feedback, we receive an overwhelming response which makes it difficult to prioritize what gets addressed first.  We would like you to contribute your suggestions for improvement or vote for a suggestion that has already been made here http://www.google.com/moderator/#16/e=42410.  This will help us focus our efforts.

We want to wish everyone a very happy, safe and fun Holiday!

Sincerly,
Blue Eyed Nate
&
The Entire Mafia Wars Team!

I more than most find it hard to keep up sometimes because I need to play the game and outline new updates.  I will say that the new Home Page Layout and new Inventory Page are things that the players have been requesting for a very long time. This can be evidenced by the player feedback on the Zynga Forum Board.  According to Allfacebook.com, there are a little more than 19 million Monthly Active Users of Mafia Wars.  This is a large number of players to keep happy!
If you go to the link provided by Mafia Wars Team, you will get your chance to suggest ways to make the game better.  I really think that nobody should be allowed to complain unless they tried to help first.  I do hope they slow down and let us have a chance to get used to everything so we can provide constructive feedback.

  2. There is a reason I quit playing MW all together. And you have summarized it all in one article.

1-Zynga keeps rolling new features based on their own schedule without any regard to whether or not they work or work well.

2-Players continue to think that they even matter. They continue to create these poorly-written, poorly-thought-out campaigns that are a waste of time and are highlighted by these blogs.

I understand now. This is a game for idiots and idiots are playing. I did for over a year. I'm an idiot.

  3. Don't you hate when folks quit then stick around just to complain?

Anyway, I have enjoyed the influx of things to do. I have been playing for 2 years and am glad they keep long time players in mind as we have completed the regular content and welcome events and changes. Don't make me start a counter petition! :)

  4. I just signed the petition, I understand that Zynga needs to try to do their best efforts to make a lot of players happy, but who understand to us, the players? Anyways, an excelent as always Jennifer :)

  5. WoW! That is a quite the churn.

Going from 23.5 to barely over 19 million? That's like 19% of users lost in 1 month. That is HUGE. I would be interested to see what the overall churn is from month to month.

Thanks for your dedicated work, Patterson. Now go take a break!
    Thanks, Patterson.
