Generate Missing Free Gift Links

I haven't been too happy that some of the gifts that I need are no longer on the Free Gift page and the items I want are not giftable any other way.  I'm still upgrading my Village in Italy and we all need Special Parts to build the items with the best special abilities in our Chop Shop and Weapons Depot. At least the Italy upgrade parts drop while doing jobs (the drop rate sucks).  The only way to get Special Parts is through the free gifting system.

I knew there was a way to create links for these items so I went to a site called Mafia Info and Active Muggers because they specialize in anything that has to do with links.  I found a note titled easy way to make gift links and followed the directions and was able to generate links for Italy upgrade parts and Special Parts.  For details on creating your own bookmark, read the note.  I skipped all that and just went straight for the making the link.  I'm not good with computers so I had to try it a few times but eventually I got it right.  Here are the steps that I used to make it work.  I'm using Chrome as my browser but the note also contains directions for FireFox.

1.  Click on the link below.  All you will see is a white screen with a line of code on it.

2.  Copy the entire line of code (Control +A grabs it all, Control +C will copy it)

3.  Now paste (Contol +V or right click and select paste) in a new window and will come out looking like a bunch of java script (highlighted in yellow).

4.  Leave this window open and open up your Mafia Wars game in another window and unframe it.  Use the unframe bookmarklet on the Spockholm Mafia Tools Stable Page.  If you do it right all the white around your game will be gone.

5.  From an unframed game, to to your Free Gift page.

6.  Go to the window in step 3 and copy (Ctrol +A the Control +C) the code in the browser bar (the one highlighted in yellow) and Paste in the browser bar of your unframed Mafia Wars window and click enter.

7.  A window will now appear asking you to input a gift number.  I used 189 which is the gift id number for Special Parts.  Refer to the note referenced above for more gift numbers.  Enter the number for the gift you want to make a link for and hit OK.

 8.  Copy the link that was generated (Control +A then Control +C).

9.  Go to Tinyurl.com (or any url shortening service) and paste this link into the link generator box.

10.  Copy the short link that is generated.

11.  Paste this link to your Facebook status.  Make sure you let your mafia members know you did all this work to get that link and you want them to send you one back. (this is the link which I though would be a Terracotta Tile but I forgot to change the code.)  I redid it using the Special Part code.

12.  Collect all the gifts that your mafia returned to you.

I verified the link from my energy account and it worked!

I'm sure there are other ways to generate links.  This one was the easiest for me to use so I went with it.  I freely admit I suck with all this computer stuff and use some ghetto pathways to do things that can probably be done much more efficiently.   Please refer to the Mafia Info and Active Muggers note for more details and to ask questions.  Here are some of the gifting codes listed on that page.  There are many more so go check it out.
