Advertising On Equipment Items

Share:

In the post below, I told you about a new free gift called the Southlander.  I didn't think much of the TNT located in the upper left hand corner of the image.  I thought maybe Zynga was trying to demonstrate that this weapon shot dyn-o-mite out of the barrel.
Da Irish Kid of The Mafia Wars Wiki explained to me that this was the logo of the TNT television channel.
Upon going to the TNT Website, I learned that they have a show called Southland and a new season will start on January 4th.  I'm not sure if there will be more involved as far as Mafia Wars is concerned or why they are advertising this channel through our free gifting system.
This isn't the first time we have seen equipment items used to advertise. The Hustlin' Wit Dre Gifting Event advertised Beats by Dre, the new album coming out by Dr. Dre called Detox and Dr. Dre himself.
We've seen quite a few movies advertised this way like the most recent Carlito's Way.  There were also items for the movie Scarface.
And how could we forget Miami Vice?
There was also a Public Enemies Event last year with all kinds of loot items available. To go back in time and reminisce, check out the Mafia Wars Wiki Public Enemies Page.
We have seen this with collection items as well especially when Mafia Wars and 7-Eleven teamed up.
This type of in game advertising doesn't really affect my game play so it doesn't bother me.  If this will prevent third party pop-ups from ever happening, I'm all for it.  Who wouldn't want their Armor to consist of 501 rappers?

  2. I like this form of advertising, its a win - win for us and Zynga. They get the revenue and maybe we get less popups.
