My friend and mafia member, Chris, posted a great tip for Social Mission on the
Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page. It is now possible to help people on missions who are NOT in your mafia. There is also a way for you to request help from your mafia members when a mission has stalled. Nate, a Zynga Official, has verified that this is a new addition to the mission feature. Hopefully they will make it easy for us to post for help. For now, here is what you need to do.
1. Locate the stalled mission on your My Mafia Missions page. Here is one that has a day left to go but one of the slots isn't occupied.
2. Go to the initiators Mafia Wars profile by clicking on his or her Mafia Wars name which is also a link to get there. Make sure you do it from an unframed page so you can switch to their Facebook page.
3. Now use the switch bookmarklet located on the
Spockholm Mafia Tools Stable Page to get to the initiators Facebook profile page and locate the post for the mission you are trying to complete.
4. Hover your mouse over the post where it says "Curtis need help to complete an important mission" and right click on it. Now select "Copy link address" in Chrome or "Copy link location" in FireFox.
5. Go to YOUR Facebook page and paste this link where it say 'What's on your mind?".
6. Make the post and wait for YOUR mafia members to help on the mission. Go back to your My Mafia Missions Page and collect your rewards. In the example below, Margaret filled the empty Enforcer slot and completed the mission. Margaret is not in the mafia of Curtis but is in my mafia.
To make this even better, I got Blasting Caps which is one of the Mission Collection items! Using this trick, I should never have unexpired missions again.
Or... a faster way is to run Mission Owner BM, and get the Mission invite link from there directly

ReplyDeleteHa, I have you both beat. Don't need ANY BM. Using only what MW provides already, just click on the initiator's picture and there is an option to send a message. 1) Send, then go back to your wall, find your post and click on that person's name to get over to his/her wall, and locate that mission. OR 2) Click to send msg but get the name only. Cancel out if you don't want to send, search for name in fb and locate mission on his/her wall.

Just some clarification... this isn't a "feature" in the sense that it is fully developed. This is a "happy" work around.
This is especially helpful if you don't have a lot of mafia yet, but you do have that 1 friend who is an active player with lots of active players on his/her end.
It is also a great way to meet people who could potentially join your mafia ;)

ReplyDeleteI find it hard to accept that a "Zynga official" says this is feasible since using Bookmarklets is expressly forbidden in their TOS...
ReplyDeleteIt appears that this method stopped working last night. I logged on today to loads of messages from my Mafia stating that it is no longer working for them , so i tested it and sure enough , it no longer seems to work.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous, look at the comment two posts before yours. It's from the same Zynga official referenced in my article. This has nothing to do with bookmarklets. You are simply generating a post so that your mafia can help with a dead beat mission. Obviously you don't read or have any concept of what a bookmarklet is.
