Justice For All created a Goggle document that has a list of Mafia Wars names that are not appropriate. A few may be funny and mean no harm but contain profanties and others target specific groups and are derogatory and/or racist. To view the unedited version of this document click
HERE. Be forewarned that there are many bad words here including the C word! All names are linked to the players Mafia Wars profiles so feel free to attack the ones you don't like or report the severe ones for abuse.
I don't like to see things like this in a game that I play to relax and have fun. It upsets me to know players who see some of these names would feel offended and possibly hurt. Profanity shouldn't be in the game because many players have children who can read. If Mafia Wars Daddy steps away from his computer and little Johnny sees a name like "Big Wang In Your Face", he may have a few questions. It also wouldn't be cool if he sees the F word for the very first time and starts using it at school.
We select our name when we first start playing. At anytime after that you can change it for 15 Reward Points.
Obviously there is no filter and all Zynga asks is that we be "somewhat tasteful" when naming ourselves.
I decided to report the names that were racially motivated. I did this by clicking on the link from the document and then "Report Abusive Behavior" from the Mafia Wars profile page.
When you do this, you will be taken to The Customer Support page. Fill out the information, include a screen shot, and click "Submit". Zynga states that "Once we have received your report we will look into the incident for you. We take all reports of player misconduct seriously and investigate all reports of this nature that we receive. However, due to privacy considerations we are unable to release the results of our investigations or share with you any actions taken or not taken with regards to your report". I plan to check back on this players profile page in a few days to see if anything was done about it.

ReplyDeletei recon they should change the name of one of there members as well hun i think there are kids who come and play this game and enjoy it as well so i think it is right that he should change his name and we all should create a report for zinga to look into thingsa as well thank you all for the info mation
ReplyDeleteI admit to spending way too much time enjoying this game. I have met and know many different ages and lifestyles of people that enjoy this game. This is the first time, I feel shame for being a part of this game. I just don't understand what sickness of mind makes these people ruin a good thing. I thought these types of things were supposed to be picked up by Facebook and Zynga. I really appreciate that you have taken the incentive to bring attention to this and hope many will be blessed by your efforts.
