Most of us thought Las Vegas was complete when District 6 was unlocked. Why wouldn't we? There is an achievement called "Leaving Las Vegas" that states "Earned by completing the Ruby Level of Mastery of all Districts in Las Vegas." I got mine on August 23rd and I'm still on the Bronze Level of District 8!
If your confused, it's because Zynga jumped the gun with this one. It was added to our achievement badge list when Las Vegas was launched on July 21st. Only District 1-5 were available and we all waited patiently for District 6 to unlock. It finally did on Aug 20th when the Community Job counter hit 30 million. 3 days later, I was happy to get the Leaving Las Vegas Achievement Badge and thought I was done. On September 14th, Districts 7 and 8 were abruptly added to Las Vegas and so were the following 8 new achievement badges.
The "Arachnophobia" and the "Long Arm of the LAW" achievements are pretty easy to get. Just go to your Las Vegas inventory page and buy 50 Dessert Spiders and 100 LAW Weapons.
You'll need V$17,500,000 for the 50 Desert Spiders.
And V$7,930,000 for 100 LAW's.
The rest of the achievements are earned by fighting. You probably already have "Holes in the Desert". All you need to do is ice 5 people from the Las Vegas fighting list.
Earn your 1,000th Victory Coin, to get the "Shake Em Down" Badge.
Do 500 Fight Jobs to get the "Trouble Maker" Badge.
The next 2 Las Vegas achievements involve betting in Fight Tournaments. Zynga doesn't like it when you don't place a bet. They blast you with a pop-up asking "Who comes to Vegas without betting?". I do because I don't like the extra clicks it takes to place bets in the tournaments. I usually click the "Fight Anyway" button. Betting is required to get the "Gambling Man" and "Long Odds" achievements.
There is one mistake withe the achievement descriptions. Notice that the amounts we need to bet are in NY currency and not Las Vegas. Technically we could never achieve either of these because there are no tournaments in NY.
The "Gambling Man" badge requires that you win a V$100,000 tournament-fighting bet. You can get this one easily. Simply place a V$ 100,000 bet on two people in the same bracket.
One bet has to win and one has to lose so your guaranteed to get the badge.
The "Long Odds" badge is earned by winning a tournament fighting bet of at least $V1,000 with 10:1 odds or greater. This one isn't hard to get either. Just bet on all the players who have 10:1 odds or greater. I've noticed that the Heavyweight Class seems to have the greatest number of long shots. In the example below everyone except me had 10:1 odds or greater. I bet on all of them. Even though I was a huge favorite to win the tournament below, my odds to get the achievement were about 100% because of the Zynga Factor.
Unfortunately I didn't win the tournament but one of the 7 people I bet on did and I got the Long Odds achievement.
Finally there is the "In It to Win It" badge. This is the one that is causing problems. You get it by winning 10 tournament World Championships. If I'm lucky enough to make it to the World Championship, I usually lose in the second round. It's very frustrating.
When I click on "Why did I lose?", I get a linked message telling me how my fight score is determined. I don't feel this explains why I lose more tournaments than I win. I know many really strong players who are also having trouble winning these tournaments. When I click on the link, I'm directed to the Limited Edition Loot section of The Marketplace. Nice try Zynga, but most of us know better than to buy loot items from the Marketplace. If you would stop coming out with new and better loot every other day, you might get more sales.
The weight class you choose doesn't matter, you just need to win the entire tournament to get credit towards the achievement. I found I have more success in the Flyweight Tournament. VCDBurn said that the Flyweight is best for players with a good amount of attack and defense skill points the Heavyweight Tournament is for players with high a number of the newer top 501 combined loots.
You first need to win all 3 rounds in the Regional Championship to unlock the National Championship.
You then need to win all 3 rounds in the National Championships to unlock the World Championship.
Now you have to win all three rounds of the World Championship. If and when you do this, you get credit towards the achievement.
Winning a World Championship is a lot easier said than done. Many players are having difficulties. VCDBurn is strong. His combined att/def scores are near 8,000 and he has only won 5 tournaments since they were introduced into the game. There seems to be a luck factor involved and from what people are saying, it's not the good kind. One of my good friends and clan members, David Klinger of {$LVM$}The Las Vegas Mafia sent me the following message:
"I finally finished the tournaments, including 3 Heavyweight World Championships, using a trick - I heavily bet against myself. I chanced upon this when I saw that some tournament odds were strongly in my favor, so I bet 100,000 on myself trying to score some extra cash - but I didn't win!! After a few tries doing this, and losing each time, I realized that the betting changes the odds, but the changed odds don't get published. The last round was the toughest - I had to bet against myself at all positions, $100,000, and not even bet 100 on my character."/David Klinger
I tried David's suggestion and noticed that I started winning more tournaments. There are many factors that determine who wins and who loses and it would be difficult to document and verify David's theory. Since reading his message, I started betting $V 100,000 on every player except myself and have won more tournaments than I've lost. I'm now half way to getting the "In It to Win It" achievement.
Thanks to David Klinger, Mike Nestor, VCDBurn, and Bossy Don for helping me get all the information that was needed to put this article together.
I'm working on my "In it to win it" badge and have had more success fighting in the Featherwieght division than heavywieght.
ReplyDeleteAs regards the Long Odds achievement.. i tried putting money on everyone in the tournament except me.. and i lost the tournament.. so obviously one guy whom i put my bets on won..but i still dint get the Long Odds acheivement.. is it just me or are you sure the thing still works the way you described it above ?
ReplyDeleteI won on each weight class but still didn't get the "long odds achievement" even I bet on people who are 10:1 or greater..
ReplyDeleteThe people with a 10:1 or greater chance of winning have to win the fight in order to get Long Odds...not you...unless you're the 10:1 odd.
ReplyDeletei still have the long odds to get and tried everything ...so i guess zynga has it turned off
ReplyDeleteits still available, i got it recently by betting on everyone for afew tourneys
