Dublin: Chapter 1

Share:

Chapter 1 of The Challenge Mission Dublin is unlocked.  There are a few differences from the other challenges but overall it is the same.

Before you get started, make sure you have plenty of consumable items needed to do the jobs.  As discussed in a previous article, Pints of Stout is what you need.  Check out this awesome post by John White on The Mafia Task Force Forums titled 228 Pints of Stout on The Wall.  Everything you will need for each job on each heat meter has been calculated.  John promises to update the post with each chapter.  Here are the totals for all of Chapter 1.

The best and easiest way to get lots of consumables is to have your friends send them to you from the Free Gift page.  I had a lot and used JGrabAllGifts by  Miller Marklets to accept them all.
If you haven't used this time saving tool, watch Josh's video for instructions.

Pints of Stout will also drop from doing jobs but the drop rate is horrible.  I did 2,825 jobs on my energy account and only got 1!
The drop is a little better from fighting.  I used 1,001 stamina to get 4.
Robbing wasn't any better.  I used 3,501 stamina and only got 8.
You can also buy them from The Marketplace.
I wanted to test something out so I went ahead and bought 28 of them for 8 Reward Points and a energy refill for 9.  It's important that you stop doing your jobs and go to the Marketplace instead of purchasing them from the pop-up you get when you run out.
In both cases above, I didn't get credit for a Marketplace purchase.  When I bought a second round of Pints of Stout while at the Marketplace, I did.
Another easy way to get even more Pints of Stout is to check your newsfeeds for players who have finished a job and shared their accomplishment.  Click on "Help and get Pints" located in the bottom right corner of he post.  You will get one 1 Pint of Stout.  Thanks goes to Shawn Janairo for posting this image in the Fan Photos section of TopMafia.Info.
Once you have a decent amount of Pints of Stout, start the mission.  The first you will notice is you no longer need to recruit new mafia members or buy hired guns to start the mission.
Recruiting mafia members is still recommended because you will receive 5 Pints of Stout per new mafia member up to 7 times during the entire mission.  For the first chapter you get credit for the first 3 new mafia members.
Here are all the jobs and the requirements for each of the Job Heat meters.
Job Heat Meter:  Green
Job Heat Meter:  Yellow
Job Heat Meter:  Red
You will notice that the number of jobs required for Challenge Mission:  Dublin is decreased from other missions because the job mastery percentages have been increased.
In addition to having less jobs to do, we also get up to 4 loot times per chapter instead of just the 1 for mastering all the jobs.  For each of the 4 jobs mastered, we get a loot Armor item called The Irish Traveler (52/63).  It has great attack and defense scores plus it's easy on the eyes.
Remember the loot Armor item we got from Challenge Mission Paris?  The Parisian Fixer.  I'm glad I don't have 4 of him sitting around in my inventory!  The Irish Traveler is way hotter!
I really like the Irish Traveler.  He looks just like Mickey O'Neil played by Brad Pitt in the 2000 movie Snatch.
I'll be checking out my inventory a lot more frequently.
Thanks goes to Anthony La Quaglia for pointing me in the direction of Brad Pitt in Snatch.

  2. My stupid question for the day:
JGrabAllGifts, does it send gifts back to the guys who sent you gifts?

  3. There's another way to collect pints. When one of your mafiosi posts that he finished a Dublin job and received his item, you can click on the "Help and get pints" link at the bottom of the post. I think you both get a pint; unfortunately, pints are limited.

  5. There is absolutely no reason to do any jobs in the first chapter while the meter is yellow or red. Assuming you can do this job twice a day, say when you wake up and before you hit the sack (allowing for 12 total clicks). The first chapter only needs 58 total clicks to complete. 7 days, at 12 hits a day, gives you 84 hits. Plenty of time this first week. Save your energy, and save your consumables for the other chapters.

I notice the people complaining about these limited time jobs (forums, MW wiki) as far as "not enough time" or "Not enough consumables" are the ones doing jobs into the red. Play smarter.
