Zynga isn't the only one who is changing things up. I noticed today that my Facebook Friend Requests no longer had personal messages attached to them. I don't like this because I sure don't want friends who don't play Mafia Wars. I ignore Friend Requests that don't contain a personal message indicating that the person plays Mafia Wars. I definitely ignore the ones from creepy guys looking for some cyber action! Now the only information I get is how many mutual friends we have.
Things are a little different with confirming friends as well. I looked for the option to add the friends I accept to a list but didn't see one. I saw that Misty from the Mistyfied Mafia Wars&Pimping Fan Page sent me a Friend Request and I wanted to accept it right away before she changed her mind. I decided I would figure out how to add people to lists later. I was happy to see it was all right there. Once you click on confirm, you will see a "Add to List" button. Click that and all your lists will appear and you just check the ones you want that person to be in. I like this was better than the old way.
I found it odd that I was able to write a personal message when sending a Friend Request so I did a little experiment. I removed my energy account from my Friends List and sent it a personal message.
I then went to my energy account and saw my request but my nice message wasn't there. I wonder if Misty sent me a personal message too. I want to know what she said. Too bad the messages we take the time to write are now going to a Facebook black hole.
This isn't a good change for Mafia Wars players but I'm sure there isn't a whole lot we can do about it. I also checked to see if JGrabAllGifts was working and it didn't accept any of my pending Friend Requests. I'm sure Josh Miller has to do some fine tuning to work around this change just like the Spocks are doing for the recent game design changes. JGrabAllGifts still accepted all of my gifts. I was happy I checked this out because look at the bottom of the program. Josh added the new fan site I created. I feel bad that I have to ignore Friend Requests because I already have close to 5,000 and even worse when I miss an inbox message from somebody needing help. My solution was to create a fan site so players could help each other on the discussion section. I hope you all will join and help me keep things organized. Click this link and then click "Like": Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page. I appreciate the support and a big thanks to Josh Miller of Miller Marklets for putting my site on his popular bookmarklet.
I hope this is a bug and not an intended change. Then again, facebook is good at dumb changes.
