Las Vegas: Jobs and Boss Fights

Share:

I mastered District 1 (North Las Vegas) today.  At first, I was not happy with Las Vegas.  I didn't like that it was all flashy and assumed I would encounter the same problems I do with the other Zynga games.  I'm always reading negative things about Adobe Flash-Player and thought it was going to be bad.  I hate to admit this but I kind of like Flash now.  I also have a hard time dealing with change. I'm used to playing the game a certain way and wasn't crazy about the new design.  I had the same feelings of uncertainty as I do whenever I get a new cell phone.  The game concepts are pretty much the same but everything is different.  Everything was going smooth.  The first few jobs were easy, I had enough chips to buy the required inventory items, the jobs required little energy and had high mastery percentages per click.  I was plugging along and all of a sudden hit my first speed bump.  I ran out of something.  What was it?  All I could see was a picture of some car keys.  I was able to find out that it was a consumable item called A Car Key Copy but I couldn't find out where you get them.  These keys were nowhere to be found.  I even started searching the usual places in my house that I lose my own car keys.

I was getting frustrated and aborted the mission.  I chose the easy way out and asked my mafia.  I ended up figuring it out a few minutes after I made the post.  All I needed to do was look up a few jobs and do the one that loots the Car Key Copy.  On first scan, I missed the little loot bag.  It's so much bigger in the other cities. At least I got to vent a little so it wasn't an entirely useless post.  I was disappointed to see that the consumable items required to do jobs are not giftable.  I won't be able to utilize my energy account to get the consumable items needed for jobs in Las Vegas.

At this time it really doesn't matter what job pathway you choose.  You have to do them all.  They were all fun.  It's easy to buy the inventory items.  They are listed in the job box and you just click on the green "Buy" button.  Jobs require energy or stamina and loot different types of items.  What we really need a lot of right now are the Casino building items.  You need to master each job of your chosen pathway in order to get to the Boss Fight.  You have to master all the jobs in each pathway plus win the Boss Fight in order to gain  District mastery.  It's a little confusing.  See this Zynga Forum Board Thread by Fenris, a game developer for more clarification.  If you run out of chips, you can get more by helping others with jobs and Boss Fights, redeeming your Racks of Chips, or going to the Market place.
The jobs requiring stamina instead of energy were cool.  Now when you run out of energy, you can work on the stamina jobs.  They are set up like a fight but if you win, you gain job mastery.  I didn't like it when I lost because I got nothing for the stamina I spent and the same target appeared for for the next click.  Eventually a new target was available.  Fenris also addresses this issue and says that they are going to fix this so you will get some mastery when you lose a fight.  I also noticed that my health did not go down while doing any of these fighting jobs.
The social job is just like the other cities in that you ask for help and get mastery percentage points for everyone that helps you.  I like that is shows the profile pictures of ten people who responded.  There is one Social Job in Districts 1 and 2.  The Social Job Pathway Tab does not appear until District 3.
Each time I mastered all of the jobs in one of the pathways, I was able to do the Boss Fight.  At first he was easy but in the last two levels of mastery I had to use the  Boss Fight consumables to win.  Check your health before you attempt to fight.  I only had 18 on the first fight and beat him with one click. On the last level Lil' Loco has 2500 health.  Don't heal yourself in Las Vegas.  It costs a lot and you have better things to do with your chips.
You get to do the Boss Fight each time you master a job pathway.  There is a Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Ruby level of mastery.  You get a Alves' Muscle Car each time you defeat the Lil' Loco and it shows up in your vehicle inventory and in your mastery items.  It only counts as one vehicle when applied to your overall attack and defense scores but there are four of them in you mastery item list.  The one with the highest attack and defense score is the one that is in your inventory.
You will get your master the job pathway every time you win the Boss Fight but you won't master the District until you go to the other pathways and complete the jobs that weren't in your chosen pathway.  Once you do, you will gain District level mastery and a skill point.

When District 1 was totally completed, I gained the title of "Touristy Hustler" and a lot of skill points.  Some of the skill points were gained while I worked on the easy District 2 jobs while trying to level.
