Rumors of Account Suspensions for Script Use

Rumors are flying about Facebook/Zynga suspending and banning all accounts from an IP address for the use of bookmarklets, and other automative tools.  Most have heard the rumor about the Godmother of The Killer Clown Clan getting all her accounts banned at the same time.  From all the information I've read on this topic, it appears to be just that, RUMORS.  I'm still using my bookmarklets.  Accounts using injection point type scripts like the cloning script I wrote about a few posts down have been getting suspended.  These are not scripts available for public use and if you have used them, you should be careful as there is some type of screening process going on.  For facts on the Zynga/Facebook TOS, read my article titled Scripts and Zynga/Facebook TOS.  Also visit the Spockholm Mafia Tools Fan Page and read the excellent discussion thread on this topic.  "  While researching this topic, I found a good blog with helpful guides called Bad Thing to read the article about account disablement click HERE.

I didn't find a lot of information on the Zynga Forum Boards but THIS POST made by The Zynga Community Manager, Jilly Bean on May 22 may have a lot to do with the rumors that are being generated.  Specifically the second paragraph:

"Also this week we have taken increased measures at ensuring account security and game integrity. Some accounts have been detected by our system and flagged for account audits. These accounts that are flagged have been isolated and any account stats that are gained through abnormal game play will be adjusted appropriately. Going forward our system will be faster and better and picking up accounts that are involved with irregular game play patterns. We want to send the message that we care about the integrity of our game economy and our PvP balance and accounts that gain favor by using exploits and cheats may have a temporary gain but will not prevail."

I also received this from a very reliable source and will give credit as soon as I get permission.

Ok everyone it seems like there is a rumor going around about peoples accounts being shut down for using bookmarklets or bots. Well I have throughly checked it out and have nothing to substantiate it as of yet. While yes Facebook is cracking down on stuff there is no evidence of them banning accounts AND IP addresses. The legal ramifications for Facebook doing something like that would be staggering and cost them Millions in lost revenues, legal costs due to internet providers suing them as well as the public suing them for it.

If this does turn out to be true the only one who could ban accounts is Facebook not Zynga. Zynga can only disable your Games not your Facebook accounts. Only Facebook can disable or ban accounts !!!

As of right now there is just no evidence to support this rumor but I will keep looking into it."
