I'm not sure if this has been recently changed or if I just noticed it but the My Mafia Tool Bar allows you to organize your mafia by several categories including those needing help.
When I click on Need Help, I get this screen and can then help everyone and gain experience points without having to leave the game. This is another sign of Zynga ensuring their independence of FB when it comes to major game aspects like helping people with jobs. I prefer this method because I won't have to search for job help posts in the news feeds.
