New Destination Coming Soon

Share:

Zynga can't even maintain a working game but it hasn't stopped them from planning another destination. Some players got this popup asking for their mobile phone number. In return Zynga promises a free 'Special Goodies Pack' in return. In the US fall officially ends on December 21st so there is still time. Since there is nothing mobile about Mafia Wars for now, I don't know why they want our phone numbers and what they plan on doing with them once they get it. Thanks to Shu Yun Zheng for posting on our fan page.

DISCLAIMER (on the popup but not captured in this image)

By entering my phone number and clicking “Submit”, I electronically consent to receive automated promotional messages from Zynga. Msg & data rates may apply. Consent not required to purchase.

  1. The picture of a cell phone and the fact that you need to submit your phone number, imply that the next destination will playable via mobile only! This is their first real attempt to see how many players are interested in jumping platform. It's no secret that Zynga has been developing on their mobile games and I bet this move is a step in that direction. MW will be moved from Facebook to mobile phone... and if it fails or becomes a success, I would say that we would see the burial of MW on FB sometime in the first half of 2016 - either way, MW as we know it should be over soon

  2. Let me guess it will be something else along the lines of Atlantic City. Mobile only.

    1. As I recall, Atlantic City was playable online. But, I've slept since then....

    2. Was it a matter of changing www.mafiawars to m.mafiawars? That rings a vague bell.

  5. If the new district can only be accessed on mobile, then I'm done with the game. I'm used to the web-based version, I'd be afraid of what data charges would be involved on top of the money I pay to play the game and I am not up for it, simple as that. This might be a blessing in disguise because it will make the decision to quit an easy one.

  6. I don't really like this new move from old computer games to the mobile platform, hopefully it doesn't replace mafia wars

  7. I doubt they have the motivation to move the entire game over to mobile. In its current form its far too clunky & resource hungry and many aspects would need a complete rewrite. No way can the cost of this be justified. I am not interested in playing a cut-down version on a mobile platform.

If this new destination is only available via mobile then I guess I'll be one amongst many who won't bother with it.

    1. You know what they're going to do, right? They'll very sneakily start moving the game onto mobile while giving players the false impression that the web-based game will stay. Many addicts will continue to spend hand over fist, and will follow them blindly onto the mobile platform, like lemmings running towards a cliff, and for each new district they open on mobile, they'll close one on the web-based until poof! No more web-based mafia wars.
