Updated Family Siege Ratio Post

Share:

This post was initially presented as a ratio nerf. I didn't realize there were different ratios for attacking the shield and attacking the health. Apologies to Zynga for accusing them of nerfing something they didn't and to those who were offended that I didn't spend 24 hours of my life trying to figure this feature out. We really do need a strategist to tell us the best way to acquire useless loot! I guess I should have taken the in game tutorial and would be an expert already. The different ratios are shown below.

Shield
Health

Shield

Energy Ratio=2.24|Stamina Ratio=2.25

Health

Energy Ratio=2.15|Stamina Ratio=2.15

  1. And instantly this new feature becomes utterly useless.

  2. I think the ratios are different for attacking the shield v/s attacking the health. I am seeing both ratios on my account.

  3. Z seems to work on the basis that if people like it and play with it, it must be a mistake. If people hate it, complain and avoid it, they got it just right.

  4. There is still a nerf. You can tell from your old screen shot and the present one. In the old SS, attacking with shield gave a ratio of 2.24. Now it is only gives 2.15

  5. Without better loot, this event is easy to ignore. Could it be targeted to newer players who may be able to use the loot?

  6. I used a High stamina/energy act to try this siege, first I loaded spartacus 500. While spartacus was running I used all my energy to attack siege I leveled up on each round and destroyed headquarters on 5 different families. I got 5 items that gift me a USELESS 1 or 2 family att/deff, WHAT A PURE WASTE OF MY TIME & CLICKING FINGER!!! hence to say just like family properties I will not try that crap again. Very simple decision (Y)

  8. why kill the fighting with fight carnage , and bring on useless features like this one, where players does not want in the first place, why can't zynga listen to player demands very carerfully....

  9. What determines the health of the family you fight? For my family its over 300k health for families we fight and we only have 30 people but in the above pic its 187k health.

  11. Usually I don't post any comments or reply to threads, but this time I feel there's something to be said: Don't get me wrong - I'm not taking sides, I don't work for Zynga, I don't work for our lovely LootLady, I'm just a regular Mafia Wars player who, like most of you, has been through years of gameplay, highs and lows, but essentially fun and good times.
We all know the game has seen better days, and the massive decrease of active players only comes to prove that something needs to change. In Zynga´s defence, I must say that the effort AND will to change this trend is definitely there. Maybe they're trying too hard, maybe they're not trying hard enough - it's only up to us, dedicated players, to keep the feedback flowing: and this is where LootLady (amongst others) come to play a very important part.
The reason I replied to this specific thread is because I noticed an apology from the Lady regarding (another) rather complicated event launched by the Zyngas... The truth is, I didn't even bother to click on this Family Siege thing, and of course, what keeps me from going there is the fact that I want a simple and straight forward game, whereas this thing seems to be too complex for someone whose main objectives are to finish the districts, fight a little bit, and level up. Period.
Regardless everything I said, one cannot deny that Zynga is putting an effort on the survival of this game. The end is near, I know, and very soon Mafia Wars (as we know it) will be a thing of the past. But let's stop for a while and think about it: Is this the Mafia Wars AS WE KNEW IT? No it isn't. Just like the three latest episodes of Star Wars were not quite what we were expecting from the universe we grew to watch and love. Mafia Wars needs a REBOOT; and if that means passing it along to more capable hands (as I've read rumours of it) then so be it. (I know what you're thinking, that Star Wars is not being rebooted and so on, but if you think of it, it is). I'm not sure if reboots have happened before in the Facebook strategy gaming world, but there's a first time for everything, and Zynga must understand that such "revolution" must take place ASAP! Millions of fans once demanded that George Lucas would step back from his own creation so that the Star Wars story could be told from different, fresh points of view.
All that's left here is a few thousand players, from millions, but before it's too late, dear Zynga executives, future business partners and/or buyers of the platform, we demand the same thing: A bloody REBOOT to Mafia Wars!!! With new concepts built around the early stages of the game, simple and fresh ideas that attract even the non VIP high level users, and if it's not asking too much, find a way to accomplish all that without affecting our individual scores, loot and overall status within this wonderful time consuming fictitious criminal world :)

    1. I couldn't agree more. Let's YoVille this thing and get it over with. Right now, rough guess, over 90% of players are dissatisfied with the direction this game has taken, and everyone who continues to play has their own specific reasons as to why something needs to change before it's too late and the game is history. This game could last another 10 years if it were properly managed, designed and programmed. I really wish zynga would either listen to player feedback and fix the things that are causing people to quit, or sell the game to someone who can do it.

  12. Well said. But at the end of the day I think a complete reboot of the game is unrealistic. You have players out there who have spent thousands of dollars to build their account a certain way. With the changes Zynga has made to the game those accounts are basically worthless. None of those big spending players will spend a dime more if Zynga reboots the game. The only hope for a reboot would be to attract new players to fill in the void left by the millions who have left over the past couple of years. Where do you find new players? You also have to consider Zynga's business model has shifted to mobile games. All but the most profitable games on facebook will be shuttered in the next year or so as they move to developing mobile games. We see by the metrics that MW isn't even mentioned specifically so we know the game is not a big money maker for Zynga. The game itself probably has less than 50k actual players and the rest are alternate accounts. Put all of those facts together and you see that MW is on it's way out.

  13. as it is this feature is not too attractive to most, they cant really up the ratios or it becomes serial leveller land..it already is for a lot so the only way to sweeten the deal is better loot or more family xp or tag on the odd skill point, the latter I assure you would work well

  14. It's so weird how I came on to see the siege we were attacking and noticed the difference in ratio and then I read this post only to realize that the shield was active :P

  15. What I would like to know is how do you know your family is under seige by another family? I'm in a large family and we seem to miss them left and right when we are all looking for them. On the last seige that we lost we were in a seige on another family who also did not know we were attacking them which means our health and shield were always up just to find out we lost against an attacking family... I just don't get it.

  16. i think you dont get to know that another family is attacking you until results. whenever a family has attacked us and we lose, it doesn't affect our shield. only decay brings down the shield.

so we dont lose the bonuses

best strategy is to keep shields always up
