Coming Soon: Option for Old Fight System in Los Angeles

Share:

UPDATE: I thought this would be good news but it's not. The fighters want to fight in New York and not Los Angeles. I wrongly assumed that it would be best that the most recent destination is available so that currency could be gained. Fighters apparently don't care about that and just want to fight to get ices. In New York the stamina costs are lower. Perhaps Zynga could prevent further protests by choosing New York instead of Los Angeles.

There is great news for fighters and those who hate the new fight system. The option to switch to the old fight system will be available in Los Angeles [1]. As pointed out here last week, the time it takes for attacks in the new fight system has also been reduced to 3 seconds [1].  Hopefully this update will be the solution to make all player types happy.  We don't know when this update will happen and 'soon' could mean anything in Zynga speak. Will promises of change be enough to end the strike [1]?

  1. With the 3 second timer and the high stamina cost to begin with in LA, it's doubtful this will end the strike. This still leaves the low to mid-range fighters out in the cold and does nothing to solve the issues of FFA's, DB's, mocks and wars. Sorry but I'm in for the long haul for fighting to go back as was.

Server issues from fighting are not the problem and Zynga knows that. There are millions of dead accounts still on their servers as well as outdated coding that can be removed. All of which will ease the strain on the servers.

  3. Great news would be : 1. Stamina spent the same as before Carnage. 2. No pause 3. Health timer back to the same as before Carnage. Give us our game back the way it was BC ( BEFORE CARNAGE )

    1. Right there with you... 6 days.. and willing to make it 6 months.. as long as the quicker heal is there.. no go..

    2. Until it is returned back to the way it was, pre- carnage, I will not play, nor spend one dime on this game again! Zynga needs to listen to the people that help pay their salaries! The people have spoken, but zynga just refuses to listen!

  4. Wow. If this turns out to be true (I'll believe it when I see it), it's better than nothing. I think. Over the years, I've developed so much skepticism about anything "new and improved" from Zynga, that I think I'll wait for the true assessment when they actually implement it. Honestly Z-peeps, if you give it back to us but have changed ANYTHING, I'll just tell you right now we'll hate it. Learn from the past: don't bait and switch us, we're not ok with that.

    1. Better than nothing, maybe, but why settle? There was nothing wrong with fighting in the first place. It was about the only thing not broken in the game, and it is the reason many who spent great amounts of money stick around. Why doesn't zynga focus on getting rid of some of the features that do not make them money but rather drive people away.

  5. Zynga had no problem putting Carnage in every location when it was supposed to have been "temporary", why are you only working on giving option of fighting "classic fighting system" only in LA ????
You want to make it a level playing field, then give us the option to choose whether we want to fight Carnage style or Classic based on our discretion.
Look at it this way, The ones that you claim were upset over the old style have a better option for themselves and those of us that prefer the classic fighting style can do so and Zynga can have it's cake and eat it too !!

  6. If their going to add an this for Los Angeles, why not change it for all the other cities? Or allow people to switch between classic fighting and the new carnage system

  7. As usual for Zynga, this is BS. We want fighting back the way it was, especially in New York where we don't burn all our stamina in a few minutes. And the 3 second delay between hits has slowed fighting to a crawl. Unless they make these changes, players are going to leave in droves...including the VIP players. I already canceled mine, and whether I reinstate it is up to Zynga.

    1. You must have low stamina. It takes me ages to burn through all of my stamina in NY with the delay.

      Delete
    2. 47 000 stamina and i burn through it in 45 minutes or so... which is good, as i can keep on going.. not play 15 minutes every 8 hours

  8. Will classic fighting will get 2.3 exp/stam? the revised carnage is only 2.25 or so

  9. I really dont know if i come back.
Lost so much from my old friends i played together for years
My mafia was 5000, now its under 3800.
Also my whole game was build to fight NY
Slow leveling with most possible ice.
Stucked much money in my ATT, Health and Ratio to get a selfleveler.
Since that BS Carnage started i stopped playing.

  10. Easier to do it in NY! And give back the lost exp!

  11. LA!!!! Why Not NY?? I'd honestly would like to see that option in ALL cities!! But hey, that's just me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Why should we compromise?!?! We didn't ask for carnage in the first place. They rolled it out quick enough so why is it so hard to roll it back?
They picked a stamina sucking city (LA) to have classic fighting, pfft NY has remained the same in all aspects except fighting why not just leave the fighting there??
Zynga are not listening properly, Carnage and the new changes are unacceptable and still don't help anyone but E-ho's!!
2 heavy weight fighters in the ring don't take a pause for 3-5 seconds before hitting their opponent why should we?!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Carnage system needs to go one of the worst changes to the game that has ever happened... ever seen so many people leaving the game at one time and more ready to go if it does not go back to the original format

    ReplyDelete
  14. Putting classic fighting in one city will only serve to overload the city where classic fighting is located, because the majority of players who enjoy fighting will choose the classic mode. It makes no sense why zynga would limit classic fighting to one city. I don't understand why they cannot implement it in all locations to spread it out, like it was before.

Also... I really don't understand how the heal timer and everything else is supposed to work, if there are two different modes of fighting. Unless I'm not getting something, I think it would lead to all sorts of crazy scenarios, where a fighter is targeting a player in a war, using classic fight mode, and the target is healing at every 20 seconds while switched to carnage mode. It would be ideal if two modes would work and be left to the players' discretion, but it seems like far more of a headache to do it that way when they can just simply switch it all back.

Dragging out all this tinkering is only causing more and more players to cancel their VIPs and leave the game. If zynga has any desire of retaining its playerbase it will act fast and correct everything, rather than continue to mess around.

  15. Here is something I started observing when the loading issues became really severe around April/May 2015. I maintain 5 smaller abandoned friend accounts, for the purposes of assisting people who may be in need of things like a click on property part, or a spot to be filled in a limited time op. I don't actually run them to do jobs/fight arena. They lie mostly dormant and at full energy and stamina, until there is an op spot to be filled or something like that.

These 5 accounts have never had a loading issue, and I have opened multiple tabs without one page failing to load. I think the reason why is because the inventories on these accounts are so small, there is not a lot to load in the first place. I don't understand why zynga can't remove some of the old inventory we have all collected over the years. I am sure that would help greatly with the loading issues. Our big active accounts are completely bogged down with inventory, and this the main reason why they are so hard to load.

Zynga was able to remove all the collections from closed cities, so they have the capability to remove things from our inventory. I'm sure most of us wouldn't miss the thousands and thousands of old useless loot we have accumulated over the years. If zynga's too lazy to reduce our inventories themselves, why don't they give players a delete option so we can remove all the crap to allow our game to run better? They can even put in restrictions to make sure we don't accidentally delete something we're still using.

There are far better ways to deal with their server issues, and our game performance and page load problems, than to mess with fighting, and these options should be explored. Fighting has to be left alone if they want the game to succeed. No player should be expected to adapt their gameplay overnight, after being used to playing a certain way for so many years. If they want to screw with future cities, that is one thing, but they can't expect to mess with earlier cities and not be met with complete outrage.

    1. I agree there is a lot of redundancy in MW. There are a lot of simple though fairly time-consuming things they could do to tidy it up. ffs they are still trying to sell consumables for South Africa!

As a new player I was advised to add inactive loot to my wishlist just to pad it out and make it slower to load, in case someone wanted to get my profile link to attack me. Even though I'm a hoarder I would willingly get rid of all the junk from my inventory if it made the game load better & run more smoothly.

At its peak MW claimed to have 17M players. Despite Z saying they will remove inactive accounts that haven't been played for 6 months, I would think that they still have several million dead accounts on their servers. I use a few dead accounts declaring wars - most of them haven't been touched for several years, and one I know hasn't been active since October 2010. I can still get profiles up for these players so they haven't been deleted.

For too long Z has been relying on quick fixes and cut-and-paste events, just multiplying all the inefficiencies and compounding their problems. It remains to be seen whether a half-hearted and probably ineffectual concession to fighters can save the game now.

    2. !. too many dead players 2. too many useless inventories we dont need store in profile 3. zynga cut back way too many servers (stupidity!) 4. too many events (time limited and permanent) running at same time.... in fact the fighting was not the cause of server overload, its zygna 's too lazy to do anything clean up bad codes , excessive features, etc etc

  17. I too find it hard to believe that this can work. If they go back to five attack and power attack in one city, what are they going to do with the heal timer and will they keep the fight delay timer? I dont think they have a clue either what they are talking about or how they might implement this. I will believe it when I see it .
This is the time when the troll appears and says something about 'script abusing whiners' . Save it, seen enough of you. I think you have as much of an understanding of the game as the developers.

    1. lol... Yes, Troll does seem to feed off of player angst and rage, just like the poltergeist he or she (it?) is. The absolute worst thing any of us could do would be to completely ignore Troll. I think if we did, it would shrivel up and die, because it only lives for moments like this. It doesn't even realise that it has become a source of amusement for everyone. If stupid is repeated in predictable patterns, it is funny. It gets even funnier, the longer the stupid continues. We might even end up making Troll famous. Maybe his own tv show. Who knows.

  18. While this could be seen as a goodwill gesture, frankly this will benefit some but not all. Many med to lower accounts will struggle LA is a high stamina area. Would it not be a better option to return settings to near normal, remove carnage maybe use it as a one of event from time to time. then allow all accounts to progress, the game has declined and we all know why, is it not better to encourage all to play and not be hindered by over the top settings in game or overloads in one city... new is good when done right listen to the players and develop from there.

  19. Until Zynga accepts the fact that the REAL problem is "Server Failures"... Anything they do is like putting a band-aid on a Gangrene Wound. Think C-C-C ... Condition, Cause, Correction.. Condition=Server Performance, Cause=Antiquated Equipment, Correction=Get off your Ass and Fix It..

  20. VIP Player Here, I have been playing for 6 1/2 years, I'm thinking it's time to give up the VIP Fee and maybe sign off from Mafia Wars,Got to get a life, instead of kissing MW's Rear end. I know a lot of the player's and are friends with them , it will be very hard to say goodbye

    1. What in the hell is whingeing? Thanks for your feedback Mr. Zynga Employee! You must be one of the "studio" destroyers. Or that troll everyone is talking about.

    2. If zynga didn't mess it up in the first place, then they wouldn't have to be devoting resource to address the issues would they? I don't really care what they have to do or how many overtime hours they have to spend to fix it. That is their problem. I do know that if they don't fix it, I will not spend any more money on the game. I will not pay for something I do not enjoy.

    1. It's more like a double edge sword... sure they get the old classic fighting system but only in Los Angeles and I assume most people preferred to fight in New York due to less stamina cost.

  23. zunga has lied about what they are doing from the beginning. this had nothing to do with game performance. if it had been, then they would have stopped releasing features on top of each other first when so many of us told them how it damaged game performance every time they did it. zynga has lied their way to losing a large number of VIP memberships. they have ruined the game. their bandaid fixes to fool us will not end the srtike and will not bring back their VIP members.

    1. This is by far the biggest blunder Zynga has ever made. I predict more VIP cancellations and long time loyal players giving up. The next round of Zynga game closures will have MW on the list. Then everyone can move on.

      Delete
    2. Yep, I wouldn't be surprised if MW is next up to be closed, and I won't feel a bit bad about it. Who should feel bad are those who don't give a shit about those affected and are doing nothing to help get fighting back to normal. They will be just as responsible as zynga if the game gets closed down. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and the players who have no problem with carnage were affected by some other aspect of the game, they would want some support to go up against zynga to get the problems fixed so the game wouldn't die off from people leaving and quitting VIP.

  26. I can´t trust Zynga anymore. After i put some good cars in my game they changed it complete. Now its same BS like Farmville. But i never spent 1 fooking cent in such bored games. Give us back our old Fightmodus in NY. After over 50.000 Greens i can play 15 minutes each 8 hours. Fook it. Removed VIP and will block such bored BS. For such a shit i dont play

  27. If they want to have carnage let the fighters have a button to use it or go back to fighting the way we were before. Other then that I want no part of carnage in any city.
