UPDATE: Go here to learn how to get the skill points without installing the extension. Thanks Team Spockholm!
UPDATE: The FAQ by Zynga can be found here. More details on why they need your browsing history can be found here. As far as usefulness, I still don't have an answer. If the game loads better with Quick Trigger then that would be something. Let us know.

Another version of the Quick Trigger Event is now available. This one is to 'celebrate' a new version of the Quick Trigger itself. It's more individualized and there are more options but it's still pretty useless. The Quick Trigger ‘Event’ is now available and you have 16 days to start it. Once activated you will get free skill points for 7 days. The only issue I have with this is that Zynga wants permission to view your browsing history to install the new Quick Trigger and I don't see why that is necessary. I'll allow it for 7 days just to get the skill points but when it's over, remove the extension. You can always disable it once you get your skill points for the day then re-enable it to get them tomorrow. There is a lot of confusion on how to get the skill points. Sadly the Spockholm link that most of use to access Quick Trigger won't work for this event because you will need to use the Facebook log in. To get your skill points, follow the steps below. If you need more details on how to add this extension to Chrome, go here. I won't go into the details of the updated version of Quick Trigger as they are self explanatory once you see them and really aren't needed. God knows there is enough information in the game as it is. We certainly don't need a extension to rehash the home page banners.
Step 1: Remove your old Quick Trigger Extension if you have added it in the past. Quick Trigger can be found on your Chrome Extensions page (Click the Triple lines in the upper right corner of your computer, click 'More Tools' then click 'Extensions'. Click the garbage care icon if you aren't on version 0.0.3.3.
Step 2: Add the new Quick Trigger by clicking the 'Install' button on the home page.
Step 3: Access the new Quick Trigger by clicking on the red Mafia Wars icon which should now be visible in the upper right corner of your computer. Now click on the Facebook Login button.
Step 4: You will see a more individualized version of Quick Trigger (with your name on it) once you log in. From there click on the 'Claim' button and you will activate the event.
Step 5: You will get a popup with your skill points (assuming the game loads). If the game doesn't load, repeat until it does. Repeat steps 3 and 4 daily for 7 days then remove the extension (unless you like it and want Zynga to read your browsing data).

and as expected from zynga its buggy .... when you logout and then click on it ...continuous windows will open asking you to login into facebook
ReplyDelete"permission to view your browsing history" Very tricky way to give up your history to pay you skill points to give them permission to snoop on your activities . Zinga is actively engaging in privacy violations. Where did you go today on the net? What other web sites did you visit.
ReplyDeleteNO THANKS ZINGA
this is only for google chrome users? if so, seems a very stupid way of going about things..
ReplyDeleteI wondered about FF users too (me for one)
DeleteI just log in using chrome, get the points then go back to FF, No browsing history available I assume..
ReplyDeleteGreat idea- we should take it one step further by looking up articles on why Zynga's stock prices are terrible- forums about disgruntled players... and porn don't forget the porn.
DeleteI'll be skipping this to preserve what little privacy remains.
ReplyDeleteHas spocklet been updated to work with this? Doesn't appear to work at this time. :(
ReplyDeleteReally sneaky of Zynga. I had no clue that we were supposed to log in to Facebook via the Quick Trigger to get the skill points. I was wondering why it wasn't working to get the SP until I read the directions here.

ReplyDeletethis link works for me on firefox already logged on FB :-)
I'm sure they'll find my browsing history interesting. I'm doing research for a psych report o.O
ReplyDeleteLooks like you need to log into FB daily in the trigger, even if chrome remains logged in.
ReplyDeleteSo... according to the link provided by Loot Lady in her update, the browser history warning isn't because of nefarious spying by Zynga, it's because of a quirk in the chrome API. According to the Chrome developer page:
ReplyDelete"It can be surprising when adding a permission such as 'tabs' results in the seemingly unrelated warning that the extension can access your browsing activity. The reason for the warning is that although the chrome.tabs API might be used only to open new tabs, it can also be used to see the URL that's associated with every newly opened tab (using their tabs.Tab objects)."
The Quicktrigger lite from Spockholm ist working for the event :)
ReplyDeleteIt works, keep trying. Scroll down if you don't see the popup, it sometimes lands in the middle of the page.
