The linked article provides a lot of hope for the future of Mafia Wars. Over a year ago, Zynga shutdown YoVille which had a community very similar to Mafia Wars [1]. Zynga actually sold it to another developer and it’s now thriving. By now most of us would welcome such a transaction take place with Mafia Wars and due to us, there may be a second chance if Zynga decides to remove our game. Reading this article will give hope for those who think Mafia Wars is doomed. Thanks to jhgf for the comment linking this article.

Yay! Good news! And for all of you BSers who will post a comment here about how MW is a stupid game and we all should have stopped playing it a long time ago and it should have died already yadda yadda yadda--go troll some other blog and get off the game, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is why BVG can take a game and make it thrive, and zynga keeps losing players:
ReplyDelete"There's a very strong correlation between decisions that make fans and profits," Lai said. "The good will we've gotten from fans by keeping them in the loop, making sure they're heard, that we're doing the right things for them, engaging them and being transparent in the process has yielded tremendous benefits... When you're dealing with games that have such a strong community, the lifetime value of the user is directly correlated to how happy you can make them. If you focus on making your fans happy, you'll get financial returns from that." - BVG guy
I know Yoville was closed or closing before BVG got involved, but seriously, someone should start a movement or petition or something, to get MW and its players divorced from zynga, so we can be adopted by a company such as BVG.

DeleteYes! We want to be adopted! :-)
DeleteZynga will not let MW go until the time they are earning money out of MW. The day we stop paying zynga will pull the plug. Hopefully someone will pick it up and save it the way yoville was.
ReplyDeletei still can'[t post here
ReplyDeleteOMG, YES!! The BEST thing that could possibly happen, is for MW to be taken over by a (keyword:) competent company who actually gives a chit about it! MAKE IT SO, Z!! SELL IT and give us hope for a FUN game again!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! Sell it, Z (or take lessons from BVG and make us happy)!!
DeleteSadly YoVille had MANY more active players than MW does when they pulled the plug on it. So if you all think for a minute some other game company is going to buy a game that has such a low user base, you all are delusional to say the very least.. Once Zynga pulls the plug on MW it will be gone for good period.
ReplyDeleteI PLAY BOTH MAFIA AND YOWORLD. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE CHANGES IN YOWORLD FOR THE BETTER AS I SEE MAFIA SINK INTO GARBAGE. I'M ALL FOR BIG VIKING OR A COMPANY AS GOOD TAKING OVER.
