Where to Add Skill Points?

Share:

With the advent of job costs based on total energy pool it’s no longer fun or desirable to add skill points to energy [1][2]. For those who want to serial level, this has always been the fastest way to get there and maintain your ratio. Sure it’s easy enough to ignore an entire destination and go about your business as if it didn’t exist but most players would want to master and farm in all destinations that Zynga throws our way. If there was any in-game incentive to be strong, I would probably go back to adding to attack/defense and health. Fighters will always do this because they love to fight but serial levelers need other reasons. Adding to stamina seems like the best alternative but it’s rather dull and when you get too much it takes too long to use. I’ve been so conflicted as to where to put my skill points that I sort of don’t care anymore. The joke may soon backfire on Zynga because I’ve even lost interest in 2X property builds. When new properties offer loot items with energy or stamina skills, I would go all out during 2X Property Builds and set a goal to max out on the loot item. Today’s 2X Property Build will be the first one since most have upgraded their Water Park and the +6 energy item would have been something I would have wanted at least 400 of. Now I don’t want any and Zynga will be the one to lose out as I would rather save my reward points and only build when I need to. I don’t know if others feel the same and I would love to know what the current strategic thinking is on building your character. Please comment with your thoughts.

  1. On main I will always build health now that they messed with energy, I do not self level on main but I was building it, now i do not see the point. After I hit a health goal prob attack, but no energy anymore. As for the mini energy self level, I guess I will hold on to them and see what pans out and build daily. Hopefully this will not be the standard going forward, if it is, then i guess stamina. I was hoping after that SF survey they might change it a bit, but alas nothing like normal-Bunny

    1. How one plays this game there are many ways, knowing what to collect that is another thing.

I have picked brains and sort of learnt as I have gone a long, (you [the 1 that runs this blog] has been a great help). Although I have MWAddon & Mafia Demon & VIP, I play the game, very seldom do I let the script run when I am not at my computer (I don't trust them)

This is what I sort of work to which seems to help with the game; Mafia Membership built up to 5 k, this helps when help is needed e.g. building, wars etc.
Reward Points collected and saved - spent very frugally I did use more than enough in Urban Assault (upgrading the Banquet Hall, if I didn't use RP that would take for ever) At time of writing I have 2618 RP (that is through collecting & levelling up not bought)
I believe that you need only collect health, stamina & energy + what goes into your inventory and only collect attack & defence if by not you loose them as they don't seem to make any difference to the game i,e, if attack/defence was 20 k or 30 k the strength is the same. My stamina & energy are built up together (148941 each). As a rule you will need either to advance. Health 58307.
All skill points are divided between stamina & energy
Property Build; each time I collect 6 stamina & 6 energy the other 3 - health (Armoury, Private Zoo & Jailhouse) = 45 Health points
Double Build; I only do this if it is going to cost 3 RP (15) max. other wise I don't worry after all what is the point of wasting RP's.

After all that collect what you think will make you stronger (it doesn't seem to matter what you collect), however the more stamina & energy you have the more you can do between levelling up & if double build helps use it

  2. I started out building a fighter account (5 years ago), got to about 150k combined skills, then Zynga brought all the crap where energy/stamina is needed, now a days each skill gets 5 points every 5 levels, I haven't built 2x prop or used skill stir for a while now. On occasions I might buy a loot item that takes my fancy,or finish off a mission with RPs..It is such a shame that this game has gone downhill so much, It used to be fun, now it is more like a job..I would quit but do still enjoy parts of it and of course all the friends I have made playing even though I have never met them.. It has however cured my OCD for finishing everything Zynga threw at us, I just plod along and if I finish anything now it is a bonus..

  3. in my case : as soon as i reached auto leveling i quit my membership and started saving my rps
no more wasting money into a game with so many issues

  4. I stopped freaking out about every 2X build because there's always plenty more of them. I don't get enough leveling RP to max on a loot but I'll buy energy this time. I tend to use leveling SP on energy and build RP on att/def/health. I got bumped up in job energy costs about 16k energy ago and it hasn't changed since so I guess I hit a bracket before I could handle it. I'm interested to see how much it takes to reach the next bracket.

  5. I just double-built five +6 Stamina properties because I am nowhere near your character's position. But I have noticed the punishment LA deals out to E players. Why MW thinks it's a good idea to punish us for wanting to do jobs escapes me. They want us to do nothing but fights and arenas. Why have destinations at all, in that case? Anyway, I will now build E as it comes along naturally in game play, as I have for a while with A.D.and H. Too many parts of the game require S for me to not build it.

  6. Correct me if I am wrong? But haven't they punished fighter accounts for years? Take a look at the Slaughter Seasons, Ice Seasons, VIP Bounties etc, basically any icing event. It doesn't matter if you're a level 100 with 200 stamina or a level 100,000 with 2,000,000 stamina . the requirements are the same. 8000 pennants for the recent Ice event. How does a person with 200 stamina get 8000 pennants? I am just asking, coz I really don't see the problem here. Sure, I can see how this is affecting the poor script users... but why should Zynga be favoring them again? I see a lot of people whining and complaining about how unfair they feel it is that their jobs cost this and that... so what? Deal with it or quit. Hasn't that been the thing it's been said to fighters about unfair stamina requirements during ice events? The problem here is simple. The script users want ALL the advantages and when they don't get them, they whine and complain like now, lol... it would be rather amusing if it wasn't so sad and pathetic. I built my account as a fighter and for the longest time I wasn't able to finish or even come CLOSE to finishing any ice events... I tried complaining about it but was met with a lot of "Stop whining" and "If you don't like it, QUIT" And most of those comments came from script users who ran accounts 24-7. and no, here we are... with the same bunch who called me a whiner, complaining about how their jobs cost too much... I know you guys wanna have the whole cake and eat it too and have the ingredients to bake new cake... but come on... it what it is, and at least it's the same for all... whether you have 10000 energy or 1000000 energy... so what is the problem? It's not like the stamina events, which I funnily enough NEVER hear script users complain about... could it be that it's because they have MORE than enough stamina to finish the events? And simply don't care about those who still can't? Double standards... sorry, none of you have my sympathy :)

And I know these posts are meant as a "threat" to Zynga... to try and FORCE or SCARE them into making the game the way script users want it... but how about starting with the ice events then? To make the requirements match the total amount of stamina? So everyone has the same chance of finishing them. Or should those who still can't just stop whining and go play FarmVille? And let the game be taken over by scripts and what they want? If it wasn't for scripts we wouldn't even be having this problem... and scripts aren't supposed to be part of the game... so one could say that "you brought it on yourself"

    1. We are all being punished here. No matter what your energy level is, you can only do 1 job per level if you ruby master it. It makes farming rather complicated. It was 6,000 Pennants and yes I've made several posts about how the Arena was unfair to those who are strong but with low energy or stamina pools. Ices no longer mean a thing and you are right, the very weak with a lot of stamina outshine the stronger players in the game when it comes to icing totals. The energy players aren't really being punished here because they can use other destinations. Fighters can use the fight list but you can hardly compare the two. The game still favors serial leveling, the statement here was more or less adding to energy is no longer a good thing for those who want to do Los Angeles. Adding to stamina will still let one serial level and finish Los Angeles. Adding to a/d/h will do nothing except give you more fight wins. If you think it through this change kind screws the fighters even more. The serial leveler will finish LA for free, it will just take longer. The fighter with low energy won't finish it for years without spending reward points.

    2. "it's the same for all... whether you have 10000 energy or 1000000 energy... " I am sorry but that is BS, I have 2 accounts 1 fighter and one energy hoe, I can do a lot more jobs with the energy one than I can with the fighter, example is LA finished 3 districts with energy acc, still have not finished 1 with fighter, and the energy account is not a serial leveller.

      Delete
    3. because the energy account can probably serial level and your energy is refilled a lot more often. That was the point. It's still easier for energy accounts. Obviously there is a range but once you ruby level, you can only do 1 or 2 jobs per level. The exception is the super low and super high energy ranges. It does cap eventually so in that case adding to energy will let you do more jobs but the cap takes a lot of energy. Read the referenced posts and this will make more sense to you.

  7. So--if we've learned nothing but this over the years it is that we can't bank on a strategy being forever in this game. I think the trick to enjoying the game is not to let the ups and downs totally crash our enjoyment. If you're an E player or serial leveler, yes, Los Angeles is a big disappointment. But the Arena was an equally big disappointment for fighters, who now look at their kills and can be overshadowed by a few hundred thousand kills by a weenie paper tiger who has all their skill points in E/S who just started playing the game a year ago. Sooner than later, if you're a serial leveler, Zynga will toss something at you that will make your game strategy useless, too. Haven't you noticed? Once we figure something out and its working well, they change it, make it more difficult and try to put 1000 roadblocks in the way. Which gives the scriptwriters something to worn on, and then when they get it figured out we limp along, happier than before. I think the best part of the game is not the game, but the people we play with. I think this is a social game, not an "I love it because it works or I can really figure out what's going on" game. If you're tired of the social aspect, then you're probably tired of the game itself. That's just my 2 cents. Incidentally, I love Los Angeles, because I only have 4500 energy and unlike South Africa I can actually click 20 or 30 times per job per full energy. So... what's good for one is bad for another and that's just the way Zynga has it set up. I'm sorry you're on the bad end of the stick, Jen, with LA, but it shouldn't dampen your resolve to add to your E. Who knows, next destination/mission/task/crazythingtheythrowatus you will probably be happy you kept it up. And if that isn't comfort, playing parked for a while never failed to shake some of the frustration off for me. :)

  8. back to adding to stammy for me... (finger) Zynga. and I'm saving my RP's for Skill Stir since it is a slightly better bang for my buck... and only buying Stamina/Health on that.

  9. Pure energy will finish SA and Mexico then when I have nothing to do go back and finish brazil london and the extreme missions then will serial level in SA D10 ignoring LA. RP are for skill stir only buying the 20 energy OR 20 stamina for 19RP. Only do stamina on them as well as for my free 200 spins I only get 1 or 2 of them offers so have thousands of RP sitting there doing nothing. But other than the odd set of 20 stamina for 19RP it's business as usual energy all the way trying to master everything ... Apart from LA.

  10. I have given up adding to energy because the new destinations penalise high energy players. Sticking my points in attack, defense. The game is no longer a game but a chore and I am seriously thinking of rejoining the real world again. It's not fun any more.

  11. I never build x2 builds for the following reasons ...
    1) it messes up the time of day when i normally build
    2) i'd rather save my RP for completing missions, jobs, Assets etc.
    3) The loot will be obsolete in months!

I started building a fighter account, and have stayed true to that philosophy, as doing jobs give you nothing but crappy loot and the odd skill point, so for every 10 skills i earn it all goes on 4 attack, 2 defence, 3 Stamina and 1 health. My daily builds are Attack (12), Defence (6), Stamina (6), and 2 health builds (zoo x 30, London x 5), as i can get energy from the usual run of Daily Shuffle, Stat Card, lucky streak etc.

  12. i stopped adding to energy several months ago, mostly add to health & stamina now. I use to " feel the need" to complete each & every event, i no longer feel that way, if i don't finish something so be it, Zygna has caused that feeling with the glitches etc, just tired of it all.

    1. This post isn't for the debate on whether scripts are cheating or not. That is a long dragged out topic. Obviously Zynga doesn't think it is or they events wouldn't cater to script users and abusers. I think scripts make my game fun and if I didn't use them I would have a much weaker and smaller account and to me that wouldn't be fun. If it's fun for you to click manually than that is how you choose to play. Nobody is losing here, Mafia Wars is a game of many options on how to play. There is no right or wrong way. It's up to the user to do what they want.

  14. Prior to the changes to energy/click, for every 100 skill points, I would split 25% evenly to attack and defence, and 75% split evenly between energy and stamina. Now I spend 25% on a&d (no change) and 75% to stamina. Additionally I add 25 skill points to health each day, from property builds. I will not add to energy again (outside ones where there's a valued loot item attached), unless things change. I am disgusted with the changes zynga has made to energy. They have made it a pointless category. I might as well have 5 energy rather than 50K. What a waste of skill points. I can't even reallocate the points now, because I suspect that once they set the energy amounts in each district, it is set in stone and the game wouldn't make the adjustments to allow for a lower energy pool.

  15. That is an interesting question, Jen! I have been pondering skill allocation strategies for months now, and settled on building for stamina and health, and using points from leveling for energy. Once a week, I would purchase the VIP Skill packages. With the introduction of LA, however, the choice seems to be to build Stamina because the ratios for doing jobs are rediculously low, and the energy costs for raising cash to do those jobs increases. Consequently, I have given up hope to ever finish LA, I cancelled VIP because the benefits were sad, I'm now stockpiling skills and RPs, and not using them for anything! If the feeds are still screwed up on May First, I will put my account on hold until next Winter. I have .over 3000 skill points and over 4000 RPS on hand, and if I decide to come back to the game, I will use them in whatever is appropriate for whatever the game morphs into. As others have said, MW has become a job, and is no longer a game. Sadly, the social aspects of the game are gone because most are too busy attempting to mine cash and/or consumables to do jobs to even read their feeds, and even if they do, it is unlikely that they will find anything in the feeds. As for the Urban Assault, I am guessing that many will not have completed it and are still waiting up upgrade the Hacienda without getting any help from friends. I wish I could say I will miss playing MW, but I have found that when I take a day or two off, I don't even miss it any more.

  16. I syill have some of mexico to finish so each morning in my buil i add 6 to energy and 6 to stamina and up my health then its stamina attack and defence with what i get through the day but sadly with the loading issues the dropped connections and the merciless white page errors a lot of the enjoyment of the game is gone. More work for less, posting issues, collecting issues, there seems to be so little of the game working properly anymore and no signs they will fix it.

  18. I have only one account, not self levelling. I build a/d/s/h daily from properties. Level up skills go to s/a/d.
I use to build from properties in the morning (I live in Germany) and take the 2nd chance for 2 x property builds. So I built stamina today, 60 skill points for only 10 RP, not a bad deal. Due to the 18 hrs timer it takes 2 days to catch up with my normal building time which is not a problem.
For sure it will take forever to finish LA but this time I don't care...

  19. 75,000 attack 73,000 defence, 85,000 health, 67,000 of both Energy and Stamina. I add to everything. I am a fighter by build, but a gamer at heart. I just want to challenge where I can how I can, with as little whine as possible.

  20. Is there such a thing as an Arena account. There is now. There are many advantages from a strong arena player. So add stamina and attack.profanity the rest.

  21. I stopped adding to energy months ago and am so happy I did. I'll never get Mexico finished and have hardly started on LA, but it's too much of a chore to even 'play' this game. It used to be so much fun. Loved the social aspect, but that's completely gone now. I add mostly to stamina and then add d/a once in a while. I used to keep them all the same, except for health, but now a/d are even at 30k, but stamina 63k is twice what energy 31k is and health is still under 10k. I do okay with fights and am just farming in LA right now on bronze. It used to matter that I get things done and would buy and spend RP's, but now I don't. Haven't given Z any money in over a year and probably never will again. They've ruined what used to be a fun game. :)

  22. I'm just getting back into the game after quitting mid-Brazil. I always dumped most points into stamina, as it had a better xp/point ratio than energy, and still do. I began serial leveling through robbing (when diamonds were a precious commodity), then script fighting, and now through Spockholm one-shotting 500x arenas. All property builds are stamina, except Warthogs and MNU suits for health, which I use RPs to covert to skill points and dump into stamina when the good deals pop up.
