Mafia Wars Metrics: Los Angeles

Share:

Los Angeles was released on March 19th. The Mafia Wars metrics for Los Angeles must be pretty scary for Zynga. It’s quite sad that about 2 weeks after the release of a brand new destination the player base has decreased!  At a time when the metrics should be going up, the number of monthly players is down by about 5,500. The daily players has increased but by only 553 players and this is most likely due to the release of a Limited Time Property on March 25th. The fact that the number of daily players hasn't gone above 100,000 in weeks is concerning. All the work that went into creating Los Angeles didn’t do much for Zynga. Sure some may have used reward points on consumables and energy refills but how many of those reward points were purchased versus farmed? Maybe Zynga should look at their new destination, figure out why players hate it and adjust. Games should be fun but Los Angeles is a full time job if you haven’t purchased an automated script to do the work for you. I find it rather amusing that 3rd parties are probably making more money off of Los Angeles than Zynga.  The images below are modified versions of the charts found on Metrics Monk.

  1. Zynga has been blatantly going for cash, therefore I've been doing other things.

  2. I told myself I will only play it through bronze just to open the props up then I'm done with it.. Honestly about done with this whole game period.. No longer is it Mafia wars, but more like Mafia Chores. Over 6 years of playing and it lost all fun a while ago.

  3. Once you figure in how many of these Daily players are red hitters that spend no money. There really is not that many ACTUAL players left to be honest. LOL

I bet 55%+ are... just saying.

  5. I wonder how much of it is that people don't like Los Angeles and how much is just frustration with the gameplay issues. The loading issues and the soon-to-be-worse Facebook API problem are extremely frustrating. Zynga's inability or unwillingness to address the concerns by fixing the loading or by finding a way to rely less on feeds only makes it worse.

  6. Similar to what I posted to Z on their survey for it...SImply that the game used to be fun in the past..You looked forward to new cities. Now its more of a pain thats not very fun but frustrating. I miss the days of Cuba or even New York, where you could do jobs without having to jump through hoops to do anything. Seems I spend most of my energy just doing the same jobs over and over to get either money for the other jobs so I can get consumables so I can then do a particular job that I need to do ! Not to mention getting them just to defeat the "Boss" so many times each level....I can't imagine any new players being able to understand what to do, much less having fun doing it lol.

  7. No big surprise = the fun has been sucked out of the game and feels more like a chore at times
Maybe if the greedy moronic wankers actually gave a fuck and listened to us the players and spent some time on fixing the known issues/glitches they might retain customers but that sounds too much like common sense for the brain dead management in zynga to implement

  8. Zynga brought this on themselves... they destroyed the game for the casual players by flooding the game with an endless stream of events, which requires either a good script or no real life, to maintain. It discourages many people and make them quit. That leaves the hard core script users and the 60% mini accounts.

Scripts are also a huge part in why many casual players quit. They simply can't do anything because the scripts are too efficient and make life living hell for a casual, manual player... so, they can either start using scripts themselves or quit... and by the looks of things, most just quit - and with good reason.

Zynga still rely on the handful of hard core CC-players who apparently still pump loads of cash into this game and the VIP subscriptions... otherwise I see absolutely no reason to keep this game running. Zynga doesn't care about anything but money...and as soon as everyone gets that, everything that os happening will start to make sense. Of course LA sucks... but it's designed to make you spend RPs on consumables and cash and energy refills... so that Zynga can earn money on you playing... does this really come as a surprise? Zynga smells money... and people spend it to play. Zynga will NEVER fiz any issues or problems... NEVER! And the reason why... they don't make any money fixing the issues... it's better to flood the game with events non-stop and hope some will spend money in an attempt to finish them.

Zynga is either very clever or very stupid...

  9. I don't even think of events as being events anymore, haha... they have become such a huge part of the game that they now ARE the game... and it SUCKS!! There is no time to just relax and actually play without fearing the next batch of events being rolled out. We all know that when an event expires, we can be sure another will follow... and if not before it expires, then at least on the day it expires. The "events" are what's killing the fun... and the scripts for some... but mostly the crazy amount of events that are there ALL the time. And it's the same events over and over and over and over... in an endless loop. Does Zynga really think this is fun? No... they don't... but it's the best way for them to earn money on people who get fed up with them and just opt out by purchasing progress...

  11. Too many changes from the original formula that made the game successful. Cities changed, the fight module changed, events are not really events anymore, the game is so slow, buttons don't always work, session time outs happen when actively clicking, properties are about loot that is not very useful, collections are a dime a dozen, the average casual player is left out, begging still is a bore. I'd guess they only look at statistics which really don't explain why things don't work. No attempts are even made anymore to communicate with players. Surveys? they set up to create specific answers, not fix problems. I get they need to make money, it's a business, playing for free is nice but it takes "credit card" players to keep it going. It's all part of the symbiotic relationship between players and the business model. I'm ok with that part. The management of the game is questionable, has been for awhile now. It simply costs too much for a virtual game, vip, stats, reward points, etc... for a game that's on it's last legs why is the expense still so high? Try low price volume, not every one can afford Gucci prices for a Walmart special.

  12. The big question remains whether enough daily players are paying for at least 1 VIP membership. Most of us still here have been playing for years now and to be honest for all the complaints that I and others have, we do not want to see it shut down. If there are daily players out there who refuse to contribute for the survival of MW, this will not help the survival. Bottom line, it's all about the money. If MW is breaking even or close to it, the game will go on. I will speak for myself in saying if the game gets shut down, I for one will not play any Zynga game again. So we should not be so hasty in cancelling our VIP memberships. I do not know what I would do if I had to start having a life again. ROFL.

  13. I own many accounts and WAS a VIP, Vip is not worth it to me so I cancelled it.. This game has been on its last leg for ages and within the last year or so they cut that leg off at the knee and are struggling to stand. . They are moving to the mobile platform anyways. Use google and do a little research and see where their development is going. It is going where the money is and that is mobile. I could give a crap less if it closes tomorrow to be honest. Already started playing other games more recently. And none of them are zynga titles and none of them have any issues either.. And to the guy above me,, don't worry, they don't have any decent games left anyways, and the ones they do are all rittled with the same issues MW faces. So why would you play another zynga game unless you are a glutten for punishment or really stupid.!!! And to be honest you can pull 12 more accounts off that DAU as I am done with MW. hahahahahahaha

  14. when the district is more achievable by mini accounts with low ratio than regular fight accounts what do they expect? the very accounts they strive to eliminate, they are feeding and the larger accounts who actually pay for the game they are shafting. bunch of idiots

  15. This is a script game now. No fun for casual players. LA is an exercise in farming, nothing more. I will only complete the first mission to the bronze level when I have enough to do the entire board to red. I will do the same with all of the missions. Not worth spending money on this.

  16. I think looking back you can say the game started it's decline when they killed the MW trading community. It was such a vital part of the social aspect of the game than once it was taken away the game was never the same of me. The explosion of scripts was another factor that led to the game's current state. Of course script use was/is a necessary evil as the events Zynga put out required more and more of the player's time. I think it's safe to say at this point most hardcore players use scripts every aspect of the game. And finally Zynga's absolute refusal to acknowledge and fix countless bugs and glitches that have plagued the game. The mere fact that you can't directly contact a customer rep speaks volumes about Zynga. How many other products or services do you use that you can't do that? Forget respecting the players that's just bad business practices in my opinion. I played for over 4 years which is longer than any other game in my life. The main reason for that was the MW community and the friendships made playing the game. I retired a couple of years back and I still talk to my MW "family" on Fb nearly every day. Met some good people and made some lifelong friendships. It doesn't get any better than that folks. It's just a damn shame that Zynga stopped caring and supporting a game that has made them millions of dollars over the past few years.
