Mafia Wars Los Angeles Metrics

Share:

Historically, new destinations attracted new or returning players to Mafia Wars. For obvious reasons, this hasn’t been the case with Los Angeles. when Los Angeles was released on March 22nd, there were 98,366 daily players. By the end of the next day there was an increase to 100,039 players which means only 1,673 more people checked it out on the first day. By Monday the number of players dropped to 93,068! Today we are at 94,600 which is still less than where we were the day before Los Angeles was released. I believe this is a sign that some players are just giving up. Los Angeles is too difficult and will probably be a justifiable driving force to remove more players. If Zynga doesn’t do something fast, we may never see District 10. I, along with some others, will probably cancel VIP Membership subscription after the next month because this game is not fun anymore and the benefits or cost to play the game aren't worth it. 1. API changes from FB are turning players away... not new city challenges... more changes on the way > more players leaving the game... waiting for the big mayday drop!

  2. Just shows you that the powers that be at Zynga have no grasp of what the players want, nor do they have the business savvy of a 2 year old. All the crazy events with outrageous requirements, continues to push players away. LA is a major flop, and putting the next UA in LA will drive more away. Maybe that is their intent...if so just shut down MW and be done with it.

Of all those 90k+ players, I'm guessing that MAYBE 25% max are real players, with the rest being kami or mini accounts.

The once cash cow of a game for Zynga has been driven into the ground due to bad decisions and mismanagement. Thanks Z, at least I'll be free of your grasp and laugh as you go bankrupt!

  3. This district along with the game sucks, literally every job requires consumable loot as opposed to the old jobs where only a few required loot. I miss those days when I could play and enjoy mafia wars manually

  4. Removing 10-15 non-players per week from my mafia. No new adds in weeks. Why would anyone join the game at this point? New players could never finish the cities or gain enough skills to participate in most events. Think the only new players are mini's / kami's. Thanks LootLady, have really appreciated your help and posts. This game could be gone in 3 months.

  5. Jen and Players, with all due respect. the city part of the game has always been a challenge, remember Bangkok? even NY untraceable cell phones? what was the ratio of those. this is a challenge just like all of those was. people come and see and leave, but they go back and do them. it is supposed to be hard.

    1. BUT when we were doing those old cities, we weren't being constantly bombarded with event upon event. I'm too stubborn to leave the game BUT I will only have a momently sadness when it goes and then a feeling of relief!

    2. I agree. I started in 2009 did NY, Cuba, Moscow, and Bangkok. Left for a few years and have come back. It is ridiculous how many jobs and districts have been added to complete a city. In South Africa alone every time you try and complete a district a new secret city pops up to complete. I will never finish a City. Everything costs more money than it did years ago. Nothing but a money grab by Zynga!!

  6. I am over level 40000 and find the game increasing unfair. That in addition to having the game lock up on me regularly. I am mostly playing Mexico, with brief forays into Los Angeles.

  9. in my opinion that V.I.P. and along with game issues/facebook constant slowness of game .It takes me up to 12- 18 sec. to do anything . Like i said VIP is total waste of $$$$ along with buying any city cash ,or loot items .pay to play is not fun at all but playing to do something is good but time delays & headachs are not !! so if you been paying to play shame on you .I been doing good without paying even missing out on 35% less of lv ups rp ( for every 10 levels ups 3-4 rps ) dont get credit to rp total .10 lvs=6-7 rp
