The Laundromat Bonus Level Simplified

From the timers to the crafting the Bonus Level of the Laundromat is causing confusion. The addition of this level introduces a second timer for the feature. Players on the Gold tier or higher of the VIP Membership Program get 5 extra days on their upgrade timers so their Bonus Level timer will also have 5 extra days. There are actually 4 different timers floating around for this property. As stated in the instructions, the bonus level is designed to exist 30 days after the upgrade timer expires.  Sorry to disappoint the optimists of Mafia Wars but the timer on the bonus level does not afford one to take their own sweet time upgrading. At the time of the post the Bonus Level will exist for 32 or 37 more days depending on your VIP status. A review of how the Bonus Level works is shown below.

Upgrade Timers: 16 Days/21 Days

Bonus Level Timer: Upgrade Timer + 30 Days = 46/51 Days

Assuming a player unlocks the Level 16 loot item on the last day of the upgrade timer their advantage is the ability to gain +1 extra skill point and a more powerful loot item than what Level 15 offers. Speeding up the timer for the Laundromat is where things go wrong. As mentioned previously the cost to speed up the timer once you get to Level 16 changes from 12 reward points to 14 reward points.

If you are going to build the Wardrobe Critic during a 2X Property Build it’s still a good deal but it’s the same deal. Both options offer a 1:1 ratio of skill points to reward points. Speeding up a property timer is not item specific so if you want to build the any other item the property has to offer it will still cost you 14 reward points. Until the Bonus Level timer expires players who have it should be careful about what they craft. If you speed craft the Level 15 item during 2X Property Builds it could be a costly mistake.

Even that cute little cat who doesn’t come with skill points will cost 14 reward points to craft.

Zynga has set the stage up nicely for 2X Property Builds. By the next one Jo Blow the gunner will have unlocked his bonus level and will max out on Wardrobe Critics. When the next 2X Property Build is offered he will decide to max out on the Level 15 item and only realize after the fact that he overspent to do so. We can only hope that once the Bonus Level timer expires that the cost to speed up the Laundromat goes back down to 12 reward points.
