The Daily Shuffle Optical Illusion

The Daily Shuffle is certainly nothing to complain about. You get something for minimal effort so it’s definitely not a bad thing. It is a little deceiving because your cards don’t actually shuffle and what you get has already been determined. By now most of us have seen a pattern of getting the worst items on the board no matter what strategy is used. Team Spockholm made a little script to demonstrate what happens to the cards when they ‘shuffle’. If you use it you will see they don’t actually shuffle at all. This feature should be called the Daily Wiggle instead. Instructions on how to see for yourself are shown below.


To slow down the fake shuffle, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Create a new Bookmarklet

I cheat and just edit an old bookmark that I don’t use anymore (right click on it and choose edit). Give it a new name and copy the code below then paste it into the URL box and click save.

Step 2: Load an unframed game

Step 3: Open your Daily Shuffle Board

Step 4: Click your new bookmark and watch the cards shuffle in slow motion. You will see they don’t even get shuffled. They just wiggle around a little. The shuffle is just an illusion. If you want to see it again, click the bookmark. You can keep doing it until you pick your card.

What you get has already been determined and it isn’t pretty! Of the rewards available, there are more good than crap [1]. In theory the odds should be 1:9 (or 11.111%) of getting the best item on each board. It’s very suspicious that it seems to always be a something not very useful!
