Challenge Mission Warning

Share:

During the last Challenge Mission (Las Vegas) it became apparent once the 3rd Chapter unlocked that we would need many more consumables than in previous Challenge Missions [1]. We were even criticized for not warning players about it sooner despite the fact that Chapter 3 remains through the first 6 days of the event. This time BE WARNED and expect difficulties. Since the new format of Challenge Missions, 7% mastery per click has been the lowest we have seen. The last job in Chapter 2 of Challenge Mission Bangkok only pays out 6% mastery and normally the 3rd Chapters are more difficult then the 2nd ones. We can only get 1,110 free Jade Switches for the duration of the event and it may not be enough. A lot of players have clicked through the green and yellow job heat meters and stopped on the red but it may be a good idea to stop on green. Depending on the % masteries of Chapter 3 there should be enough time. I suspect that like last time many won't even realize they can't finish until the last day when it's too late to do anything about it. With a Family Mission that most families won't finish unless Zynga extends the timer and a new destination on the way Mafia Wars is about to get very stressful.

  3. I don't know if always stopping on green is a valid strategy, You only get three days for each chapter. Most players can only do jobs twice a day, so if you only do green jobs, you will spend 4-5 completing each chapter and will time out before you even get close. I haven't done the math, but I am not sure you can do only green jobs even if you are able to do jobs the maximum number of times.

Here is the strategy I use, and have always finish these challenge missions easily. This shouldn't require any red, but I NEVER do red jobs under any circumstances. If I can't complete on yellow, I let it go until next opportunity. Follow the intent of the strategy and it works out anyway.

    For each chapter:
Day 1 - Do all of first job at first opportunity. Do all of second job at second opportunity
Day 2 - Do as many jobs as it takes to be above 50% at first opportunity, and complete job at second opportunity
Day 3 - Do as many jobs as it takes to be above 50%, at first opportunity, and complete job at second opportunity

I have pretty much always done these challenge missions using this strategy, and have never failed to complete them. Of course you will need to collect most if not all of the consumables, which I find quite easy. The first district 2 job in NY only requires 2 energy and drops better than 10%, Clearing robbing boards gives 2 100% of the time, and I have enough stamina to easily collect fight and arena playing normally. Collecting from Stream Scanner will also net 5 daily, and I don't remember ever needing to run more than twice there.

I hope this helps at least some of the players out there. An thanks again Jen for all your help. Knowing what's ahead is often the difference between finishing a task (especially the recent missions)...and not.

    1. Thanks, this is the strategy many, including me have always used. What I'm saying here is that if Chapter 3 has much lower mastery and higher consumables than before we may run out of consumables even if we collected the maximum so a sound strategy will need to be adjusted or let it go. I hope that doesn't happen.
