Yesterday the Daily Shuffle feature was pulled from the game and Zynga told us that ‘technical difficulties’ were the reason [1]. For those who never got the feature, today was supposed to be the day that the rollout was at 100% but now it’s 0% [1]. Over the weekend I received many inbox messages about glitches with the feature and there in fact were many things wrong with it (both good and bad for the players). Throughout the history of the game glitches have come and gone and it’s always, understandably, the same thing. Players who didn’t use the glitch get angry and demand rollbacks, players who did use it live in fear of rollbacks and in a month or two it doesn’t really matter. We have seen Zynga rollback or suspend accounts after exploits are revealed and we have seen them do nothing [1],[2],[3]. When it comes to this blog, glitches are a no win situation. If I post about them, players who were using the glitch get very ugly with me when they are fixed and claim it’s all my fault. When I don’t post about them, players who didn’t know about them get even uglier and claim I’m the worst person in the world and should be shot. All I can say is that when someone reports something to me in confidence I respect their wishes. When something is widely known and found on pages and in the news feeds, I usually provide further details. If you want to play the cat and mouse game with the developers then the best thing you can do is join a group, page or family that shares glitch related information. Always remember that when you use an exploit it’s at your own risk and there could be consequences. Wishing death on players or questioning their morals over using a glitch in a point and click game on Facebook seems a bit extreme.

Jenn, it is perfectly obvious to me that you report "glitches" that you can not figure out how to use. You could not figure out the "glitch" to get extra skill points per level, OH WAIT, you figured it out, but it would NOT WORK for you, so you make a post about it, and lumped every big player in the game, putting a cloud over their integrity.
We all know you used the shuffle "glitch" and never posted it on your blog until AFTER Zynga shut it down, for your own gain . Personally, I knew about it, and decided for myself, I would not steal from Zynga, (sure go ahead and have zynga investigate my account, I have nothing to hide), the game is going to die for this reason, why in the world would people spend money on a game that cheaters can do better? For you to sit on your high horse NOW and call this a glitch and not stealing, makes me sick. If you are the “players advocate you claim to be, your choices would have been to either contact Zynga and let them know of the issue, or post it for all to use. Instead, you chose to hide the information and use it to build your own account, and then as soon as the glitch gets shuts down, you make a big dramatic post about it. If you go to the store and they forget to charge you for an item, are you the type of person that gleefully leaves the store “a winner”, or ARE you the person that goes back inside and PAYS for the item.
This "glitch" that you reported in a different thread, after it got removed, I asked you for a comment about the cheating glitch and you referred it as a "technical difficulty" It was nothing more than the ability to "buy" items without paying for them, and it is my opinion, that if you used it, you stole from Zynga. Yes, while it was a programming error, there is absolutely NO difference in that, and going to your corner drug store and the scanning device charged you 30 cents rather than 30 dollars.
If it happens once, well an HONEST person would tell the store they made a mistake and attempt to pay, the average person would go home gloating. THE THIEF would go back in and buy all they had. So how many times did you buy the “technical difficulty” Jenn before it got shut down? And how fast did you run over to your blog to make a post AFTERWARDS to break the news, to yet again capitalize on your position with Zynga, making more money as you get paid by your advertisers as the more people come to read your blog?
First get your facts straight, I never posted about the glitch to get the extra skill points per level up, that all stemmed from a comment on one of my posts unrelated to the topic. Opinions on these matters vary dramatically. Yours is one extreme and others are at the other. Basically I know about most glitches because so many people tell me about them. I have no obligations to report them and I don't when I'm asked not to. Some I use and some I don't. I made this post due to the many comments and inbox messages asking me to address it. You for one admit that you asked me to as well. Before I could do this I needed more information and I needed time. I do have a life outside this blog and Mafia Wars and was busy all weekend and most of today.

You said your team recreated it and it would not work, the issue here is, you used the cheat to steal from Zynga and while a lot of people did. You refrained from posting it until after it was gone, and you knew about it, don;t you think you owe your readers an explanation for that?
ReplyDeleteGo try to find it, what you read was in the comments of another post. It really doesn't matter what I do or don't do, I don't work for you or anyone else. This is a hobby and I do it in my free time. I can post about anything I want to and what I don't do is post about things people ask me not to. You have no clue or wouldn't know if I used this one or not. Zynga can go check it out as they are the only ones any of us need to answer to, certainly not people like you. If you don't like what is on this site then don't visit it. Kind of a simple concept that people filled with hate can't seem to grasp.

Tomorrow it will be millions - correct as time goes on and zynga destroys the game the numbers compound. think about it this way a script gives one 100-150 skill points per level. the key is leveling fast so early on plow all the script point into energy. then watch Extreme leverage take tens of thousands, to hundreds of thousands to millions in fast fashion all while zynga watches and does nothing.

ReplyDeleteqeez I ques I am always the last to know of anything til it way too late my brother only came to post the other day cause he was the only one in our families that didnt get the shuffle now hear of glitches and stealing I for one would never take from game its a matter of respect for the game not zynga and I have way too much time invested in building awesome fighter's so dang sure wouldnt want them shut down so in IMO people pay to play cheat and steal daily but no onein families will or if I find out will kick them out its a matter of respect to other player's and game but what other people do is their business but almost always in time will get caught time if they continue

ReplyDeleteWouldn't you agree that in a game that is supposed to be premised on developing the best strategy to get ahead that exploiting glitches and gaining an unfair advantage is upsetting to people who try to play fair? It's not just up to other people to do what they want to get ahead because it affects all of us.It's also not correct that everyone would use an exploit given the chance.Just sayin...

Just look at all the money people spend on the game for items they can only use for a couple of weeks before they are outdated and rendered useless Then they push more crap at you to spend money. However being a Saint gets you nowhere so take what you can before it is gone for good ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, please! Jen doesn't owe you or zynga anything, be gratefull for all the info you get here and leave your morals for your family and kids. Have anyone signed a full disclosure agreement with zynga? I didn't. If zynga can't get their act together, it's their fault, not the players' who use it, and it's up to you whether to use it or not, IF somebody likes you enough to tell you about the glitch. I don't see any steeling here, I see zynga's most events as a rip off, with many glitches and nerfs. They still can't get my NY cash from dissapering after 3 months of looking into it, that's how well they know their own codes. Frankly, I didn't know about that glitch or many others, I am one of those dumb blonds, feeding zynga from my credit card for many things that don't work properly. I doubt you could get that much useful stuff from this one anyway, unless there was a speedy script to do it, every time I shuffled I got crap and it took forever with all the animation, lol

I want to say a big THANK You to Jen. Personally for me I have found all your posts helpful and informative and I am very appreciative for the time you put into this site for me to learn what is going on in Mafia Wars. I didn't get the daily shuffle in my game and I contacted Zynga and all they told me was it's slowly being rolled out. If not for you, then I would have never known that it's been pulled from all accounts that had it. So now I know not to be looking for it. You always explain so much better then Zynga on new things Mafia Wars has. And sooooooooo many times I come here to look for answers on things I not know how to do. You have helped me in so many ways in my game and I hope you will always be here for me. I guarantee you that those who blame you for Zynga finding out about something have also come to your site on guidance on the best way to do something that has been rolled out on MW. Ignorant people are fast to blame, it's a shame they don't do the same on saying Thank You.

-Accepting 5 of the same gift from 1 person (shows up obvious in your gift center, all in a row). The sender is obviously exploiting a gifting glitch, and stealing from Z. Accepting those gifts is receiving stolen property.
-READING THIS BLOG. Glitches and other forms of "cheating" are routinely reported on, at length here. Exposing you to harmful cheating radiation. I don't know if the effects of that are cumulative, causing an eventual saturation level. Who can say exactly what would happen. It could turn you to the dark side. I don't know. There aren't any studies published about it yet (that I know of).
--For your own safety, I have to advise that you stop reading this blog immediately.

It's the OCD in me that can't stop until they shut the game down. lol at anonymous #2, really how much do you think a blogger blogging about a dying facebook game gets paid? Do you think all the blog posts where I need to spend reward point to show what is coming or explain how to do something just fall off the reward point tree in my backyard? I spend more money on the site and reward points. This is truly just a hobby, if it was for the money, I would have stopped a long time ago or would just have a state the obvious kind of blog and that's not why people visit.
