Bad Behavior Over April Fools Joke

Share:

Team Spockholm provided it’s users with another version of their yearly April Fool’s joke. Most of us who use these tools checked it out and laughed. If you clicked the donate option you saw the joke immediately and most respected their wishes not to share. Some thought this was real and really freaked out about it but then laughed once they realized it was a joke. The side joke of it all was a little 500 Error thrown in for those who rejected the offer (shown below). A simple refresh fixed it but some out there started suggesting that there was more to it and showed the more ugly side of Mafia Wars. Many who use these tools daily felt the need to criticize and made things up as they went over this joke. Spockholm Mafia Tools is a free service that helps many players and if they can't have a little fun with their product then they wouldn't be doing what they do.

This fool, who constantly uses the Inventory History Spocklet to promote himself, didn’t like the joke and turned it into much more. There were no loading issues, it didn’t interfere with game play and it certainly doesn’t suggest that Team Spockholm is going to start adding viruses or hacks to the toolbar. All you needed to do was click the donate button to see the joke or refresh the page and things all went back to normal. It’s people like this who have nothing better to do than complain about others that really take away from the spirit of the game. Fortunately trolls like this are ignored by the majority and the majority can take a practical joke once a year.

  2. I would say the biggest April Fool's joke is that people still pay money for this broken game..

  6. I was amazed that Zynga would do something like this, but I thought it was real. The fact that I didn't get it until April 2 played a big part in that, though. Since I've accumulated hundreds of reward points and have no great need for them, I figured, what the heck, I would toss them their 157 requested reward points. I was a little disappointed it turned out to be a joke, actually. Good one, and pretty funny.

As for the guy who can't take the joke... regarding item #4 on his list: of COURSE team spockholm has the ability to write viruses or hacks. If you don't trust somebody, you should not run their software on your computer. The browser does limit what they can do -- they can't access your files -- but they can do anything they want to your mafia wars. However, if they did, they would get found out and everybody would quit using their tools. In any case, if you don't trust them, don't use their stuff. If you think they're up to something, you can easily look through their code.

  7. Next year, team spockholm should make it spend all this guy's reward points on something useless, and move his best loot to the family property.

Now THAT would be funny. :-)

  8. First of all... if gifting/donating your RP's was even possible, don't you think that would have been exploited by many before now. It's a joke dude! not only grow a funny bone... but grow a freakin' brain! Thanks for all you do Team Spockholm.

  9. I like how he claims that people would think its real, of course it could be, but donating rp?
They cant get any money out of that, did they plan on selling them back to zynga for a higher price or something? lol
If anyone knows how to convert rps into real money, please do say so, i have lots to convert, haha.

At first i was a little sceptical, but i knew that people cant take rps or send rps or even convert them into anything other then skill points and i dont think skill points pay for making scripts.

And about that virus and hacks, sure they can most likely, but its just as dangerous to visit facebook itself or a newspaper or an online shop with infected adverts for example.

  10. What this demonstrates is that not everyone is as computer or more appropriate browser savvy as others. It's also shows how easily downloading a script (even though you are warned) can be malicious if intended to be that way. It was a good Joke, one of the better I'd say Spocks have come up with :o) It' also shows how easy Zynga could create a similar pop up and bait all users to determine script use or any other "issue" they determine. Not that I think they care, they are in it for the money, not policy. ~Lonnie

  12. Hi Jen

Can you thank the guys for all their hard work. I honestly didn't realise it was a joke and rejected it because I had to go to work (yip I do log in first thing in the morning) came back to donate in the evening and it was gone! Been trying to get it back ever since *blush*

Thanks once again for all the hard work that you and the guys do to make this game so enjoyable. :)
