By now most of us have accepted the fact that we aren’t going to master Mafia Blackjack. Rather than feeling sad about it we can look at it another way. We are getting something for free and there isn’t incentive or a penalty for not getting all of the rewards. It will probably be possible for most players to defeat bosses 1-3 with the free Chips that are available for the duration of the event. The rewards for doing so will be 1 Gold Level Void Binder and +6 skill points (+2 for boss #2 and +4 for boss #3). Mastering this event on the ruby level is not worth the rewards. Below is a breakdown of what you are actually giving up by not defeating boss #4 and surprisingly you can get more for a mere 12 reward points.
We are seeing it takes about 100 Chips per 1,000 health. Taking this simplified average, you would need 1,200 Chips to defeat the 4th boss and gain the rewards. There are about 1,000 Chips available for free (another average due to the unknown number of the Daily Collect and Gifts from Mafia Wars). Since you’re going to use all your free Chips to defeat bosses 1-3, you will need to spend about 1,200 reward points to defeat the 4th boss and gain a better Void Binder and +10 skill points. Since you already own a Gold Void Binder by the time you get to boss #4, you will lose it if you are able to defeat her. This makes the loot item less valuable when perceived at face value. You will only gain the difference between the two items. The jump from Gold to Ruby will add +13 attack equipment points and +13 defense equipment points to your score.
You would also get +10 skill points and you also gain +2 and +4 for defeating the 2nd and 3rd bosses. If you give up the 4th boss you are only giving up +10 skill points and +23 total equipment score points. Now lets look at something cool. When there is a 2X Property Build going on, you will gain +12 skill points and in the case of the account used in this post +34 points added to the total equipment score. I would say this is a much better deal and easier to do than trying to defeat Michelle Paulis and her 12,000 health. For the same (actually better) increases to my character spending 12 reward points is better than spending around 1,000.
If it’s loot you want and you are already maxed on the best Property loot (or you ignore Limited Time Properties and they aren't built to Level 15), you could purchase a Crate for only 6 reward points and gain more than you would gain by the +13 difference between the Gold and Ruby items.
Buy 5 of these and you will also get a Marketplace Promotion mastery item. With the 1,000 reward points you will save by not spending them on Chips, buy 25 Crate items and spend only 150 reward points to get 25 Crate items plus a ruby level Merrymaker and +8 skill points. You don’t even get tick marks for buying Chips [1]. After reviewing the actual value of the ruby level reward, I will not feel bad, sad or angry for skipping it.
I've used 250 chips on the 2nd boss over 2 days and only gotten it down 740 health. So much for 100 chips/1000 health average. I guess Zynga slaps down that last card to always beat me by 1 or tie. I think they ought to let US get the last card. The potential for them cheating means they most likely do.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to guess and actual number because some will be much unluckier and some will get really lucky. I found through using several accounts and keeping track of what people reported on pages that this was a good ball park +/- a couple hundred. My mini used 285 Chips to get the 2nd boss down and that is also above the 100/1000 average. We can only hope we will get luckier as the event goes on. Some may not even get the 3rd boss but the analysis is basically the same. You aren't getting that much to begin with and using reward points is not recommended.
DeleteBrilliant analysis. Thank you. Start picking stocks funds and go into business :)
ReplyDeleteA rigged ploy by Zynga? No, won't believe it
ReplyDeletei give them an A for effort but this is worse than the poker mission thingy!!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure that luck is the controlling factor in this game. Just played 23 times and never won a game even though the lowest I sat on was 17. Even better is the game never busted once. If luck is the controlling factor here I might be putting the fir and ambulance on standby.
