It’s been a few days since I posted about kami accounts [1]. From reading hundreds of comments on various pages, there was a great divide in opinions. Some thanked me for explaining it, some condemned me for writing about it and some demanded that Zynga put a stop to it. For those opposed, the solution seems simple...eliminate passive experience. On the surface this seems easy enough but it would come with a cost. Take away passive experience from attacks and guess what? Thousands of kami accounts with tons of stamina and no purpose can ban together to keep the strong down. Players don’t red ice their stronger foes because the would help instead of hinder. It’s really a no win situation for Zynga. Keep passive experience, players can level at will, acquire skill points and not spend a dime. Take it away and group attacks become common strategy. For that reason, players shouldn’t freak out about possible changes. Love me or hate me, the solution isn’t mine to come up with and many enjoyed the heated arguments over it.

Not crying at all. Look at my Arena stats. Attacks don't affect my game. Just showing the extremes people go to when they don't like something I post about. It's always exploits that get them upset. I think it's hilarious that they do this every time. I can use my blog for whatever I want. It is mine :) Now you can stop crying about that.

ReplyDeleteIf Zynga were to get rid of Kami accounts it defeats the object for those players who have steadily built defence on their character - why would anyone have defence if there is no experience to be gained, the whole game and monies spent will become even more of a farce, because instead of building a good solid defence I should have built 100k more health, so if the great Kami debate continues and experience is withdrawn from players who have built a sound defence, what reason is there to continue to play.

Deletei dont have a Kami i dont use Kami's .... but at the end of it all its the players choice how they choose to play if they take away the passive exp what would be the point of defence if someone attacks you and loses you get the exp thats the point of making yourself as strong as you can so that when someone loses to you you benifit .. if they take that aspect away you may as well just turn it into a robbing and jobbing game as no benifit will come from fighting
DeleteI do not see what the problem is, yeah i use a kami to level me up when I am a bit short on XP for the next level and do not want to waste 10rp when i only need a little bit more and I have been doing that for ages. When I first made my mini it was to help get the build parts for the 4 NY properties when they started and to go looting, but has they changed the game I started using it for different thing like helping my friends get to the next level or to click on their posts, but as i kept going up in levels and they keep changing the game I now use it to help me and my friends level up when needed and to help the family progression. We are only a little family and the extra 150 ices a day really do help.
ReplyDeleteI think that most people have more then one account and if they stopped us from using them to get that little bit extra XP we need then a lot would either just stop using them and the daily players would drop a lot, and a lot of people would not be able to keep playing all day and even more would stop playing.
Is it cheating? yes but so is using assassin or any of the spocklets/addons etc. Does it take anything away from the game? no it helps me and my family. Does it hurt anyone else? nope they are on the fight list for anyone to ice and i do try to keep it healed while im using it for others to ice, its only a mini so what do i care.
Was it wrong for Jen to point out about people being p'd off about everyone is using minis? NO she is just posting about events in the game. If people do not like it then that is fine they can try and get the mighty Z to stop it or just use one themselves :)

it's not cheating as far as MW's is concerned...it's fraud as far as FB is concerned cause it's a fake profile. As far as the game is concerned...if you have a profile on FB, you can play. How you play isn't their concern...

This game has many issues and the entities responsible for changing it are not aligned with most of the players.
It is very true that whatever functionality they build in game can be used for purpose it was designed or for fulfilling some ulterior motive.. there is no stopping that no matter whatever we say or do. You can nerf the game only so much before everybody quits .. and I think that is where this game is headed right now.. it may not happen today .. but who knows what happens tomorrow.. the game is getting boringly repetitive.
I think the Kami accounts are keeping peoples interest alive. take that out and Zynga would have put the first of few nails in MW Wars coffin..
The kamis, all the exploits, glitches, autos, people losing accounts from exaggerated accounts of abuse/bullying, Facebook challenging a players ability to comment on a post, begging and the inability to play this game without an army of friends to 'click' on your post....even a paying player has no place here....every aspect of this game has been abused... I just cannot see how Zynga can fix this mess.

ReplyDeleteI'm not whining, I don't care what others choose to do with their accounts but ALL players should know the options. Never need to use the heal button. Leveling up every 2 to 5 minutes refills my health. The point of my attacks was to show the hate towards anyone posting a subject they don't approve of. Nothing to whine about, I welcome to keep attacking me. The joke is people hiding behind anonymous to talk shit. Your opinion may be more just if you signed your name, but we understand, you are much more afraid of attacks than I am.

Because I have so many readers now, people think they are the blog police. I post about whatever I feel like posting and will continue to do so. ReplyDeleteEasy fix after x attacks the experience you win stops from a certain opponent. Blaze are hitting you because they use those type of accounts and they sell them it's a known fact. Take the exp away from them and they loose money and also can't fight so much. Now you know why...

ReplyDeleteI am starting to think Zynga needs to make a new Shark Tanks for the Mafia Wars Gamers that build at a slower rate, the Old Fashioned Way. We can have Levels of up 10K Players, then go up to the All Inclusive Fight Lists, thus putting those Giants into there own areas. They could also do this with the Arenas. I was dumb enough to dump some good money into this Game and seeing these HUGE Levels just makes it so I have to adjust my strategy, to compete I will need to adjust and use those same strategies. Every 1000 Levels gets me 5000 SP's and 2500 RP's behind I believe. Time to get some Red Running Done here. It's join in or fall behind.
ReplyDeleteIt would be 500 reward points per 1000 levels. With the Arena and Kami accounts, there is no reason to buy them anymore. You can just run your account and make them. Before the Arena it would take too long. Kamis weren't so widely used because it takes fighters much longer to burn their stamina. When people stop spending, they game will go away.

DeleteThank you for that correction on the RP's, way miscalculated on my side there. I am glad to see all the VIP accounts out there that I run into, meaning others are still putting money into the game to keep it alive, but I agree, if we let it grow at the current HYPER RATE that it is going at it will probably Crash and Burn. And there is the Burn Out factor.....having been playing since early on in the Game, I have myself taken a few month long breaks from the Game just to know I could. I have a real Love of the Game and for many friends I have made Playing through the years. The continuing repetitions lately on the Missions and Secret Districts are just to keep some of us occupied, but the personal interactions are what really make this Game worth while and keep a lot of us coming back for more. I would also like to Thank you for this Blog and the information you provide to a lot of the MW community that still look for answers to what the Game issues are.

hmmm...cheating in "real life"? like the personal and corporate manipulation and exploitation of tax codes to maximize wealth and profits? Are Mitt Romney and Donald Trump cheaters? Or savvy and model businessmen, standards to extol? For corporations, we are in fact told that to do such things is their fiduciary duty to their stakeholders to take advantage of these practices whenever possible, that it may even be "criminal" not to do so!
DeleteKeeping this in mind, let us get back to Mafia Wars. There are at least two sides to what is meant by "fairness" and "cheating".
The financial aspect of this game makes it complicated, because of course not everyone is as capable or willing to contribute substantially in this regard. The non-paying player is told that without this component the game would not exist, the so-called cc player is told the converse, that "freeloaders" must be allowed to make the player pool large enough to be interesting.
But if you allow both sides, then you must also allow the methods and means which might make the chasm between them seem bridgeable.
For my mind, the scripts that manage all the repetitive tasks are clearly acceptable, for without them the game would be nothing but an onerous chore. The same goes for the fighting scripts, which, in this day of stratospheric health, is the only possible way to compete. As for the kami accounts, usage on a minor scale is fairly universal...and on a major scale I think there is too much work and effort involved to make a big fuss or complain about without seeming small-minded and begrudging.
Of course there are lines...for me, rp injections are definitely cheating...and if i could hack the zynga servers and just change my stats...well, what would be the point really?
Now zynga, as a corporate entity, of course has no real concern with fairness or cheating. And while there are non-paying models that might engender financial viability, this is not enough.
First, they must keep the game alive, and this must involve both paying and non-paying participants. There is implicit acknowledgement that this means tolerance for most (but not all) script usage.
Secondly, they will try to increase the contributions of those already doing so, which means the enticement of perceived advantages that would ensue.
And thirdly, they will encourage the non-paying group to "convert" to the other side...I think they have been most successful in this regard with the VIP program.
All this is of course a balance and always difficult to achieve. There are many who would argue that zyngas efforts have been bungling and inept, but their motivations remain crystal clear.
So, finally, for those who may be dissatisfied with any current state of affairs, it is incumbent upon them to recognize these realities, both personally in regards to ones fellow participants, and also in regards to the corporate framework within which this all takes place.

I have had the same people serial icing me thanks to a comment. I don't care either because I fight in the arena. In my opinion all of the cheats big $, bots and kami's are hastening the end of the game. Zynga should have limited passive ices a loooog time ago. Instead they only reward those players. Obviously the greedy players are doing a kami on the game and it'll self-destruct thanks to them.

If I cannot gain EXP from someone hitting me and losing to me I just wasted 100K profile points by adding to defense.
The debate on Zynga losing money!!! I don't agree 100% with this statement at all. I purchase game cards for my main account as well as I purchase game cards for my kami accounts to continue to improve their effectiveness. I might not be spending as much on my fighter account but I can assure you Zynga is getting my money!!!

Ppl do here things that can't be done that way in RL and we all know things in MW they just simply don't work as in RL, simple as that, it is a game, keep it there. My opinion is if this blog is meant to be helpful for MW community I just think sometimes u must measure if the help u want to provide will be harmful instead and the damage u provoke or can provoke could be bigger than the help u think u will give. It is all about what ppl considers is cheating, kamis, scripts, selling accounts or buying accounts, lying to zynga agents to get rp's for the visit to zynga center etc etc I don't think none of that is a good thing for zynga. If kamis or passive xp is taken away then pretty much this game is about done then, and if it doesnt get removed then big spenders could stop playing and zynga cares only about money so either way this game is close to dying everyday if ppl don't stop whining about stuff like this anymore...

ReplyDeleteI just want too say this I am a old school high energy player at one time that was the best way to get loot .. I enjoyed it i could help out my clan mates .. then zynga took away the great gifting loot so i was stuck with what to do stop playing or just continue well for a long time i just continued then one day after talking to some of my buddies and i told them i had allmost 20k stamina that was wasted every time i leveled ,after that i started to help my clanmates again due to the exp they couldd gain and it didnt hurt me so once again i had a purpose as i am very weak in att and def but now i can continue to help my brothers and sisters . If they take away the passive exp my role will be done for and i know many who are like me and that will be the nail in the coffin
ReplyDeleteMafia Wars is a game governed by rules that are enforced at the server level by "business logic". If the rules allow something, it is not cheating. Nobody every complained when farm accounts used to get $#@! loads of HEL then gift it to their friends.
ReplyDeleteI believe eventually zynga will change things to stop kami accounts, they are as usual just slow to do it, The solution is a very easy., and in a sense they have already done it ...to a small degree... by putting less emphasis on skill and more on weapon strength... if they took it one further and lowered the price of rp drastically more players who otherwise would not spend on rp will , it just reminds me of when weapon parts for building were so rare so people built looters to accumulate enough to mass build , or paid $10 for 10k wp... zynga shut down this practice by simply making wp drop fast as well as offering new shops which need no weapon parts , just rp to mass build

You are in a sense advertising for them. They should be giving you a percentage on sales. Me personally, I have no need or use for a Kami. My motto is, What others eat doesn't make me use the bathroom. It has little to no effect on me. If folks want to line up for the attack, so be it. That type of play is for dinosaurs. Arena is the new wave and the only time you feel attacks is when you level up or are doing some special event fighting. I think what you are seeing is people are really mad at Zynga for changing the game not because of your blog...
ReplyDeletePerhaps the idea of red ice limits suggested above isn't too bad. Something like 200 red ice hits on one opponent and you get a warning, then you get a one hour 'cooldown' period :) Normal players would still get passive experience and the big stamina Kami accounts couldn't sit on you for too long.

You keep pointing out that Kami accounts are built for free and sold by outsiders while big spenders are the ones that gave their money to Zynga, so one would think Zynga would be trying to make the big spenders happy?
Thanks so much for bringing this whole topic up, it was enlightening :) And it is silly of people to think that whatever Zynga does about this, you were the cause. (I'm actually betting on nothing, using their past track record)
Red hitting is not just about obtaining passive xp...when i was much weaker but high level and stamina I would sometimes take care of bullies by giving them some attention...in those days, not only was it much easier to ice in this manner, but I could very effectively tie up these bullies by keeping them occupied...and thus away from their undeserved targets. This even worked with entire clans...my high stamina meant I could fight 24/7, and it was not hard to make myself enough of a nuisance so that inevitably they would back down.
DeleteIt can also be important in wars, with "weaker" members helping out by coordinated efforts against certain targets, embodying a very noble aspect of sacrifice.
And it is also a double-edged sword...if you limit the number of red hits, what do you mean by a cool down period? One where you cannot fight at all? Then this is very unfair, and should apply to green hits as well. If instead you just eliminate the passive xp, then it is meaningless, because 200 hits, or whatever, is nothing these days, and you are back to the problem of encouraging swarms of red-hitters without the disincentive of providing xp to an opponent.
This whole discussion reeks of the notion that one cannot be happy unless others are not...that is not enough to have wealth, but that there should be others who have none.
You have 100,000 dollars to spend on this game? Let me tell you, not very many people, using kamis or whatnot are going to be able to match...let's just do a little rough math...100,000 can easily buy you 1,000,000 rp...with double builds that means 1,000,000 skill points...now an account to level 70k will get 350k sp and 35k rp...not even close...and that million skill points can also very easily make your account a serial leveler, so you get those points as well. Paying players will always have the advantage in this regard.
To each their own...I am glad I play in my own "little world" and I am oblivious to such things...just a game for me ; )

ReplyDeleteTook the screen shots hours before the post was made. Obviously you have 0 clue about the state of the fightlist. About 50% of the accounts haven't updated in a very long time. The names, levels and even families that show on the fight list are not what they actually are. You are the one that needs to investigate. It is the worst thing they could do. The hate just perpetuates more and more visitors which in the long run benefits the site but honestly I would rather have a smaller audience. Makes me want to go private and charge a lifetime membership fee like some of the script writers are doing. Might be a nice place for those to visit.

DeleteThe problem seems to be that no one wants to hear someone's opinion. I don't consider it cheating, especially when you pay for it, Zynga knows it's there, if they really wanted to, they could fix the issue, I don't consider it cheating. Come on it's "Mafia Wars" who in the "Mafia" played by any rules.....sheesh give it a rest. I think the ones who call it cheating just can't afford to pay for what some can so they have to call it something. Again this is an opinion on a game we all play ;)

All my updates show how long ago (Zynga time) something (attack, capo, whatever) happened, not what time it happened like yours do.
That is from the Spockholm Player Updates. If I showed the Zynga ones it would just be a bunch of capos and maybe one or two attackers. The Spockholm one is updated in real time so you get a better picture of what is happening.

DeleteThe use of kami is pretty much helping for those who addicted to the game and need to level simultaneously to keep on playing all day long.. Especially when u're in a war n u need the stamina after a refreshed start fr levelling.. I love reading the 1st posting about the kamis, it's somthing new for us to read after being supplied with almost the same updates fr zynga everyday.. Though kami usage not exactly new thing to most of us, but its really surprisingly to know that big hitters also using kamis to keep on going with the game.. I guess jen already know what's coming when she posted something like this.. I was hoping more story like this being put up on your blog in the future instead of normal routine of what's new in the game, not in a way to disclose or promote cheating patterns in the game, but maybe something more interesting in the past about history of some unknown glitches or which people like me might want to know..

I'm being told that Blaze is the ones with a kami service and that is why they are attacking me. Zynga should take notice of the black market cause I guarantee if you added up the money from loot sales, account sales, leveling services, script sales and bucket list sales, they are making more than Zynga. Why would people pay Zynga when they can get much further paying other players. Like you said, once the money runs out the game dies.

ReplyDeleteI did post about how to make one in 2010. Not my fault if you haven't been a loyal reader since then. Before the Arena they took many months to make. Today they are so wide spread and common. Excuse me for being too busy posting about how to play the game that I assumed my readers already knew. Most of them do. I posted about this because it was brought to my attention that Zynga is looking into the practice. I never complained about it and remain neutral.I admit to everything I do in the game and no where have I denied using a kami. I spent a long time building one so why wouldn't I use it? Think you need to get your facts straight before you come here making all these false accusations. Not my fault that you didn't read my post about how to use a kami that you had no clue. Maybe you should start a blog and post about the things you want to hear. Not sure if you realize but every time I post about anything that involves an exploit, I get slandered and attacked. I decided I don't care anymore so that is no longer a threat to me. I have many more things to post about but will do them when I'm ready to take the heat and when I'm motivated enough to spend the time.

DeleteNo, I only use one when there is a family event or a reason for me to level. I hardly play otherwise. Last time I checked this wasn't a job and hence there are no job requirements. Kamis have been mentioned many of times throughout the years as as I said in the original post, I even included that as a way to get more exp in a more RECENT chart I made. It's nothing new here and it isn't my fault if players don't ask when they see it mentioned. I never posted about the level up glitch as it was being investigated and there was no reason to. It was on our fan page at least once a day. I can't hand feed everybody. Those who follow us regularly get what they need. Don't believe everything you hear, lol. I don't use automated scanners and if you think I took the time to run a scan everyday for years than I must be wonder women to you. Did I use it on occasion, sure as did everyone else even if they didn't know it.

ReplyDeleteWell i am a single dad with a 2 year old daughter, i go to work everyday and come home and take care of my kid. I don't go to clubs/bars or even drink for that matter. I admit i use demon and have a few kami accounts.
I was on my way to work and seen a wallet on the side of the road, i pulled over and picked it up. To my surprise it was filled with money and had the owners identification inside. I could have kept it and no one would have known but i did not i sent the wallet to the school the student attended. So having a kami and using some scripts has nothing to do with your real life.
I have a question as to what happens to those accounts that reach max level (whether they get there by kamiing themselves or by high energy/stamina). Do they continue to get the 5 skill points (since they're not leveling)and reward points or are they then stuck and the only way for them to get more skill is to buy it? I'm not sure how that all works. I'm seeing so many levels in the game that are 50 and 60k. I thought I once saw an article here about zynga flagging and shutting down high level accounts. Is that true?
