Pay To Play Bandit Warning: Stay On Gold!

Yesterday the Decaffienation pay to play Secret District was released [1].  It’s awesome that the job “Get Offer For Buyout From Caffeine Kingpin” has a 2.31 ratio and makes the idea of purchasing it even better. Sadly, the Bandits spoil it for some. The good news for players on the Gold Level is there aren’t any. The bad news for those who blew though it without much thought is the Bandits are relentless. If you already moved to the Ruby level then you are out of luck as there is no way to go back. The drop rate comparisons are shown below. Many thanks to Micah Barker for helping me with this post by providing the Gold Level data.

The data shown below demonstrates why I’m devastated that this job won’t be an option for me. Both runs have a total of 575 jobs done. The Gold level run had 0 Bandits and the Ruby Level run had 51!  It is possible after a day or two the bandit rate could get better and that’s what I’m hoping for. If you plan on doing a lot of jobs, it’s definitely best to stay on the Gold Level.

    The max limit on active bandits seems to be two. I wait til two are active then do all other jobs. coming back to them.

    I started getting bandits on gold level now...has this been nerfed too?

    Yeah they must have added bandits, because I'm getting a ton of bandits on gold.

    Yes, I'm also getting bandits on the gold level. I've noticed 1 job bandit and 1 experience bandit.

    Hello. I am a Mafia Wars developer. I just wanted to thank Jen for pointing out our mistake. The bandits have now been added to the Gold level so everyone can enjoy the challenge the bandits provide. Thanks for playing Mafia Wars.

      lol, do you really think they worked on the weekend! Could be different for different servers. Also sometimes the bandits appear at first but then go away after X number of jobs done. I don't think anything changed. I do know that nobody reported no bandits on ruby and thought it was best to warn people. Gotta take the good with the bad here. If Zynga changes things for the worse due to my posts, there is nothing I can do to stop that. Maybe making the blog private would help but word would still get out.

    Dear Mafia Wars Developer, no worries here as I won't pay to play it anyway! The limits being imposed on everything is driving players away from MW so when will it be shutting down permanently?

    There are now regular Bandits even on the 1st job of Bronze tier of Decaffeination secret district. Guess Zynga has read this post :P
