When Zynga announced that 13 games would be shutting down, many analysts predicted The Ville would be one of them [1]. They were right and as explained on Player Support, The Ville will be gone on June 24th [1]. It’s only been 10 months since we were doing a cross game promotion with this game [1]. Perhaps the legal battles with EA, the makers of Sims Social, had something to do with the decision [1]. It probably wasn’t the player base as there are more than 3 million monthly active users [1]. Whatever the reason, there is nothing to get excited about because they aren’t offering compensation packages to Mafia Wars players. It’s very worrisome that Zynga has excluded Mafia Wars from the last few shutdown packages (is Mafia Wars going in the same direction?). If you play ChefVille, FarmVille2 or Bubble Safari, you are in luck and should go here to fill out the form.

The Ville Shutdown: June 24, 2013

they prolly figured out MW players are only in it for the loot and quit playing after they score..lol..i aint mad at'em
ReplyDeleteThis should have been one of the 1st to shutdown since they admittedly stole the idea of that game anyway and with them wanting to go into actual live gambling ( ie they have to pay out real $$ to actual people not sure they thought this through ) and rather than fix the existing problems within the games that they were aware of for years, their solution is no more game no more problem. I have to say I feel they've treated their customer based pretty crappy if not for us they would be nothing. Thou I fear you may be right as MW is also not on their Zynga.com site either. I have first hand experience with this as my VW was shut down and within that game same things happened increased pop-ups for sales trying to get as much money out of you that they could b4 they killed it and if this game does go I definitely will never play another Zynga game again.. My money would be better spent on my family and Xbox than with people that have no respect for the ones that made them what they are now.
ReplyDeletethey still haven't compensated me for MWars 2. :-( and I had a few $$ in that game still. I emailed them a number of months ago, asking if I had somehow missed the compensation and I was told that I hadn't and they would email me and let me know. Like I said..nothing yet!
ReplyDeleteand once again, this doesn't work if you blocked the game.
ReplyDeleteIt's ironic that Zynga will be closing the Ville since EA is also closing SimCity (on June 14) which The Ville is a ripoff of. It seems that Zynga is more interested in having people not play its competitor's games than in providing an enjoyable gaming experience.
