The Italian Files: Operation Event

The Italian Files is a surprise temporary update of the Operations feature. We haven’t seen any new Operations, or loot, since June 28, 2011. That’s over 1 year and 7 months! This is a welcomed event for those who love Operations and not so much for those who don’t. The event lasts a total of 15 days and once it expires, so do the Operations. Click on the help mark from the banner to learn more. The first tab of the in game instructions explains the event. There are a total of 5 new Operations and each one has three difficulty levels. If you successfully complete a total of 15 Operations, you will be rewarded with the mastery item. 

I’m not going to go through how to do Operations as I have probably written 100 posts about them when they were popular. Nothing has changed. If you have questions, please ask on our fan page. The unique aspect of these Operations is that they don’t drop while doing jobs. They are simply in your Operations Tab and all you have to do is ask for help and get them done. The “Instructions” tab display the in gam instructions for Operations in general so don’t be confused by this busy piece of work which states you can get a new one from doing jobs.

As with Operations of the past, the jobs require energy and/or stamina. The ratios improve with the difficulty and players will be surprised with those on the hard level. Below is a sampling of each level of difficulty. Ratios are around 1.6 for the easy Operations and move up to over the 3.0 range for the medium and hard. They requirements are kind of steep so I can see this causing problems with stalled Operations.

For review, when in your Operations tab, click on the “Help” button to generate a request. Players who click on it and opt to do the job are locked in and you need to wait for them to finish.


The same rules apply as well. You can join your own Operations, but many frown upon this because you won’t get additional rewards. To join your own Operation, hover your mouse over the any job and click on the “Join” button.


You will also deal with slackers or bots who park it in your Operation but don’t do the work. Fortunately you can kick them out but this often causes drama. Players who join the Operation get made if they think they were booted too quickly and players who have slackers in their Operations get made if their helpers aren’t fast enough.

You can ask for help ever 30 minutes.

Of course if you don’t want to fuss with relying on others to help, Zynga lets you purchase helpers. The easy Operations cost 6 reward points per helper, medium 7 and the hard one cost 8. You have 15 days to master this event so there is no need to rush it.

Once the Operation is complete, it’s time to collect your rewards.

You will get a total of 3 or 4 reward items.


To see what items each Operation has to offer, click on the “See Rewards” link of that Operation. Hover your mouse over each item to view the stats. All Operations with easy difficulty levels offer a combination of the following 6 items.


The rewards for Operations with medium levels of difficulty are shown below.



Operations with a hard difficulty rating are as follows.







Once you complete all 5 Operations for each level of difficulty, you will be rewarded with a NutShell.




Unfortunately, you only get to keep the one with the highest stats.

As you complete your 15 Operations, the progress meter on the home page banner will keep track.

Once the event is mastered, the home page banner disappears and no more Operations for you! If you want to accumulate a lot of loot, you will need to start helping in Operations early on as the will soon evaporate.
