UPDATE: This issue appears to be resolved. Hopefully it doesn't come back anytime soon.
As if Limited Time Properties aren’t irritating enough, Facebook decided to get involved and they have added their ridiculous captcha checks for ALL Mafia Wars Requests. Most will first notice this change when they request property upgrade parts. Zynga needs to have a sit down with Facebook and tell them to stop jacking with parts of the game or they need to stop asking us to beg for stuff. Zynga likes it when we spam but if we need to take additional steps to do so, there will definitely be less of it. If it really annoys you, the work around would be to activate auto-posting (or turn off your disabling auto-post scripts). The only issue with this is that your requests won’t show up on your wall if you have Timeline (which most of us do). If auto-posting is turned on, you don’t have the opportunity to write anything and therefore you requests won't be posted on your wall.
Any Part Request

Individual Part Requests
I didn’t know what to do for the captcha check below? Facebook is really out of control with these things. If you ever want to laugh, try the audio captcha. They are about as hard to understand as most of their text captchas are to read.
Every type of Mafia Wars request is now requiring a captcha check and as you can see this is going to cause problems and irritate the dwindling player base. We can't blame Zynga for this but we can demand they take action.
War Help Posts
Crew Requests
Ice/Kill Posts
Thanks to Panda Eyes M for bringing this to my attention and to John Anderson for posting this on our fan page.
I had the auto-posting feature enabled, and just got a Captcha Check, when I just posted for City Crew! FB & Zynga needs to work more in sync, this is annoying!
ReplyDeleteDo you use the Spockholm Toolbar? It contains a feature that disables autoposting when you grant permission for it. I turned it off on two accounts and didn't get any captchas as when it's activated, you shouldn't even see the request, it just posts out to the news feeds but not on your wall if you have Timeline.
DeleteThis is also the way facebook will catch fake accounts created for mafia wars.
ReplyDeletej**** flipping c*****, for as much as people complain about zynga its been facebook thats jacked around with my experience playing this game more than anything.
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible
I agree, most of the gameplay problems with MWs have stemmed from breakdown in Facebook.
Deletety for posting about this - happy it is not for me only - not happy about the security check at all.
ReplyDeleteAnna
When I click the okay button in the bottom right the post will show in my activities in timeline and I can highlight the post, I'm not sure if the post will show in the news feed, so no problem for ices, major pain for parts begging... thank goodness for tinyurl's :)
ReplyDeleteand how about Facebook's recent attempts to blow your mind by giving you all kinds of choices of irrelevant things when you attempt to post in a room....I am getting 5 or 6 "suggestions" when I try to post and getting rid of them is a pain as one always seems to be highlighted no matter what you do to get rid of it....for example...I was trying to post the link for a level up bonus in my family's private room...took me 3 tries as FB kept substituting some unknown page for what I had written...try it....it will drive you nuts.....I don't want FB trying to read my mind....I just want them to feck off and leave me alone
ReplyDeleteVery handy when posting a war ... NOT
ReplyDeleteAfter trying 3 captcha's i lost my war , i was TO LATE.
Thx Facebook for messing with our game once again.
I got one for a war-By tyhe time I got one I could read and type it in.I had lost the war.
ReplyDeleteI have autoposting enabled but this thing comes up when I try to post for help with a WAR. This is total crap. No matter what I try to post - crew help, etc., this is coming up.
ReplyDeleteZynga's support page says they are trying this as an experiment.
Zynga chat (Rene) says this is a facebook issue.
what about multi post when you level up with the limited time properties
ReplyDeleteMaybe Zynga ask'ed FB to do this as it may break some scripts.
ReplyDeleteJust another way to drive more players away from an already struggling game.
ReplyDeleteIf you do it wrong you get blocked for chat and adding friends
ReplyDeleteGetting it while trying to post WARS yesterday and today - the worst possible timing!!
ReplyDeleteI have autoposting enabled and it's not disabled in Spockholm but still got the captchas when just trying to post for war help - highly irritating when you have been declared on and are losing!
ReplyDeleter they crazy ? we just want to play
ReplyDeleteI've got spockholm but can't find the feature to disable auto posting. More info needed please.......
ReplyDeleteneed to bombard Zynga with complaints so they get with fb and do something about this problem. Right now Zynga customer service reps are either blaming it on fb or playing dumb. But Im sure mw has some sort of agreement with fb in order to run mw and its other games on fb. By the way its happening with other games too. This really sucks and may be the final straw to make me quit this game as those security checks take all the fun out of it
ReplyDeleteOh my God ! Ya think someone has more than 1 Facebook account,I Just can't beleave That someone would have the balls to have more than 1 account !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!!
ReplyDeleteEven with timeline, if you have auto posting on, the posts *do* go to your wall. Thing is with out being able to write on them in the say something part, they will all post to the same game "container" on your timeline for the month.
ReplyDeleteEach month each game you play is given it's own "container" for posts.
Each auto post or even non auto post that you generate from a game without any writing on them will be placed into that "container" on your timeline to keep your timeline tidy with newest posts on top within that container.
As the month progresses, if you don't delete your old/dead game spam/posts you will find those "containers" sinking lower and lower on your wall/timeline because time is progressing and they are anchored to the first day of the month which is lower and lower on the wall.
If you delete old/dead posts your "container" for the game will stay at the top of your timeline.
Take a look back at your timeline month by month and you'll find a "container" for each game somewhere towards the middle or bottom of that month. You may have more than one if you are post happy and post every bit of spam Zynga wants you to share.
Facebook is not gaming friendly. They want you sharing things that will tell them about you so they can monopolize on that, not what games you play because they are already getting a cut of that revenue.
That is not true on my account. With no comment the post is not there and I can't find other people's posts if they made no comment. I verified it myself with mini accounts. Also my game posts never went into containers and were still all over the place.
Deletedon't want to be a party pooper but the flash player's new update will be the ice on the top of the .... pooo, check it out, imean update and y will see
ReplyDeleteZynga has done nothing about FB making us all change to Timeline so that posts don't show on your wall (unless you make a comment which is stupid). If you get flagged for too many likes on Zynga posts, Zynga says too bad nothing we can do. New players trying to build their mafia fast can get in trouble for all the friend requests they make. But we have to do so in order to play. Zynga pays FB but as far as I can see, has never once stood up for the players. This is just 1 more thing FB is doing to irritate us and Zynga will do nothing. Zynga needs to stand up to them and wont. But, bottom line is that FB will do whatever they want.
ReplyDeleteFacebook is a MONSTER that likes to mess with people so hard i think Zynga has enough capital to LEAVE FB adn the constant interference with Zynga related Games...............Time to FISH or Cut bait(FB) in this case.......
ReplyDeletei was plagued with captcha all day, so far so good it is gone for now
ReplyDeleteok, I discovered my flash got backed down to wrong version, had to uninstall / reinstall so worth checking on that. other thing i went into accessories, system tools, and clean disk, had it delete all of the temporary internet files, and also thumb nails on my computer... i can't say what exact did it, but i am once again posting with out issues. i was confused on the part about changing auto posts, my game half of the time already auto posts, other half manual posts.
ReplyDeleteI suspect the majority of FB users also play Zynga games of one sort or another, so surely Zynga has some elbow power here.. they should get FB to stop messing about and annoying everyone! As if Timeline weren't annoying enough on its own, now we have to put up with this. I wonder if FB wants to lose users cos they're sure going the right way about it.
ReplyDeleteGAAAAHHHH! Yet another speed bump in the road.. as if enough players haven't left the game already. Doesn't Facebook know that if a competitor opens up that is friendly to gamers, that most of their users will go away? Come on, who spends any real amount of time doing the "social network" part anyway?
ReplyDeleteIts back to normal again....
ReplyDeletefacebook SUX!
ReplyDeleteamen!!
DeleteI have 3 account, it not showing up on my main account, so seems i'm lucky on that point, but it will prob come in overnight for me then, but my two mini accounts have got this silly bloody security check
ReplyDeleteIf you auto post from MW (or any game) of course you can have it show on your timeline (facepalm).
ReplyDeleteall you do is go to your activities button and click and then click to highlight whatever post you want highlighted ... d'oh
Hello Donna,
ReplyDeleteI understand you're receiving that recaptcha box every time you want to post anything. This is an experimental feature that has been introduced into Mafia Wars which requires players to verify a series of words, but it seems it appears every time so we're working to fix this nuisance as soon as possible.

In the meantime, if you require further assistance or have any other questions, we are here for you any time.

Every time I try to post from Mafia wars I get a capcha and if I make a mistake my post vanishes and will not post to facebook. The pic I am sending is of the capcha I had to do to post my war.
This was my reply>Donna M. Harker
Well I won't be playing any more if it continues and neither will anyone else!
