Zynga announced a new platform called zynga.com coming soon (1). It looks like they are attempting to have alternative to Facebook for their own games as well as those from other developers. The initial plan is that Zynga.com will be tied to Facebook in that your games and progress will be available on both platforms. Only 5 of Zynga’s “most popular” games will be included at launch which is said to be this month. The games are Words With Friends, CityVille, CastleVille, Hidden Chronicles and Zynga Poker. The short list does not include Mafia Wars so for now this won’t affect us. To learn more about what this means for the future of games, read this post on TechCrunch.
