UnFrame Workaround

I’m sure many have noticed that unframing no longer works. You can use the Spockholm Mafia Toolbar and all scripts will work in a framed game. Many of us prefer to play unframed because it is the only work around (other than reloading) for those pesky half screens. It appears Zynga did something with the code that prevents us from unframing our games. For every action there is a reaction and in the script world this is no exception. One of our admins, Brandon Venery, has written a script that will unframe the game. it takes an extra step than what we are used to but for now it works. To unframe once again, follow the steps below.

1.  Click, drag and drop the bookmarklet below into your bookmark toolbar.

2. Go to Mafia Wars and click on it. You will get a popup that notifies you “You’re not on the correct page, Would you like me to load it”. Click on “OK”.

3. You will be directed to facebook.mafiawars.zynga.com and a white screen will appear.

4. When your white screen has fully loaded, click on the Unframe bookmarklet again and wait a few seconds. Your Mafia Wars game will now be unframed.

5a.  If you use a stand alone script that requires unframing, there is another step. When you attempt to activate a script, you will get a Script Convert box.

5b. Drag the bookmarklet you want to run from your bookmark toolbar into the box. In the example below I used the Assassin-a-Nator.

5c. Click Launch and the script should appear.

5d. To prevent this extra step, click the "Convert" button and new compatible bookmarklet code will be made available for you to drag to your bookmark toolbar.

If this was something intentionally done by Zynga because they don’t want us to play from unframed games then they need to do something about the half screens. How can I do this job when the job button isn’t even visible? If this can be fixed then maybe I can adapt to not unframing. Until then, Zynga shouldn’t consider blocking a viable work around for one of their game issues.
