The Lead Community Manager, BarryKash, has posted a FAQ about the newly formed Player Advisory Committee on the forums [1]. I’m glad to see that Zynga is putting out more information in regards to this topic. Those who continue to bash or hate on the players who are part of this committee are counter productive to the goal at hand which is to have a better game for all player types. If you feel the need to label the PAC as a failure or a sham before it even starts than you are not giving it a chance.
Below is a reprint of the FAQ.
Player Advisory Committee Updates
Hey Mobsters,
As most of you know, we have set up a new Player Advisory Committee(PAC). We recently held the first meeting between some experienced & enthusiastic members of the PAC & the Mafia Wars team in what turned out to be a very productive discussion. Among other things, we spoke about how the PAC will work with Zynga. Meetings between PAC & Zynga will continue to happen once a month & where the PAC will help us better understand the pain-points & requests of the community. While having this direct channel of communication with a good mix of die-hard & long term players will help immensely in fixing smaller issues & more pertinent issues, we will always place the suggestions of the PAC in front of the larger community before we make any changes. We have also taken note of some of the questions that have been raised about the PAC & here are some FAQs (which will continue to be updated):
Q1. If someone is going to represent me, as a player, I want to know who they are and how to contact them? / What are the channels to provide feedback/suggestions to the PAC?
The PAC represents the community as a whole rather than individuals. They will draw our attention to issues that are being reported by a majority of the players if we haven’t responded to it already. Please continue to use the Mafia Wars forums, the Official blog & the Official fan-page to report all issues.
Q2. How can the players stay informed about the activities of PAC?
We will continue to post regular updates such as this one as well as surveys & discussion threads about things discussed in PAC meetings.
Q3. How can I be the member of PAC 2.0?
There will be ample opportunities for players to be members of the PAC since membership is for tenures of 6 months. Please continue to provide insights & constructive feedback on all community channels. We will also ask the existing members to nominate players who are active on some of their blogs & fan-pages.
Q4. Will the handful of PAC members truly sample the entire MW players?
The members of the PAC have been chosen due to their understanding of the game & the community, and in some cases, run blogs & fan-pages visited by a sizeable number of Mafia Wars players. They will help us prioritize issues, concern & feedback. We will always consult the larger community through surveys & polls before making any large-scale changes to the game.
Q5. I have questions that are not answered here.
Please continue to post your questions on the forums & we will respond to them from time to time.

Thanks,
BarryKash & the Mafia Wars team
Well, as long as Zynga listens to PAC and doesn't back-burner the project again, I think 2.0 can do a lot of good for the game and community. Just my 2 cents...

nice lets hope we get some good changes in future now like maybe for next limited property building to have like when someone clicks on part posts they also get one back in return like it was in first New York buildings that way for sure more ppl will click on part posts and actually start building and helping on these posts ;) ~(^^^) thx PAC and also of course also for any other changes that are coming in the game ;)~(^^^) ~ Johan Versteeg
ReplyDeleteIf in these "new" meetings Zynga some basic training is included on how to deal with players issues instead of behaving like the PAC is just another clan then, perhaps some good can finally come from it.
ReplyDeleteNot all PAC members have been an object of such complaints (in fact a couple of PAC members are very generous players)but, enough have been reported within the community for trying to impose themselves on other players rather than help, that the bad reputation persists.
Our community recognizes readily what it likes adn, what it does not. The PAC will have to earn the reputation if seems to ask for before it proves itself improved. I do hope I am wrong this timee.
The PAC should not be viewed as individuals and in fact none of us even need to admit to being a part of it. The only reason I have is because I had planned on writing updates. The PAC does not need to concern itself with its reputation and I don't recall anyone asking for that. What matters is that Zynga will listen. They made it clear that ideas will put put forth to a larger group so people should focus on that and not the individual members. Any bad reputation that is viewed on individual players is already there regardless of membership on the PAC. I don't plan on changing my playing style or anything else. I and the others were chosen for a reason, if we change those reasons may no longer exist. Our purpose is to talk to Zynga and provide insight as how WE play and Zynga hopes in return that they have enough player types. It could fail again but I think a few days is not enough time to say it failed because some don't like the people who were selected. Those people will change anyway.
DeleteCommunication is a two way street. Both sides need to understand what the other is saying not just hear what is being said

ReplyDeleteWhich do they mean? I only use MWLL's page so I do not know what others they are talking about.
I am very interested in the PAC. Please post more information about it. So far, it sounds like the same people as before are on it. What is the make up of the group? Did you all go to San Francisco again for a meeting? How was the meeting held? How often will it meet? Please give us more information.
