Yesterday, many but not all of the players who were selected to be a part of the Player Advisory Committee received the following e-mail from Zynga. MrSimy0 who was not a member of the PAC posted a copy of the email on the Zynga forums (1). Those who received the e-mail were given 100 reward points as a token of Zynga’s appreciation. The email mentions that a smaller version of the PAC will be launched next month. I don’t know much more about this as I did not receive this e-mail nor have I received anything about the next version of the PAC.
"Dear Mafia Wars Player Advisory Council Member,
Thank you for participating in Mafia Wars Player Advisory Council (PAC). As of February 29, 2012, the current Player Advisory Council (PAC) will be dissolved.
In recognition of PACs contribution to improving Mafia Wars, we are awarding all PAC 1.0 members with 100 Reward Points as a thank you for helping Mafia Wars. The RP will be automatically credited to your account on March 1st 2012. Your participation helped us shape the next iteration of the Player Advisory Council (PAC 2.0), which we will be launching next month. PAC 2.0 will be a smaller program with focused feedback sessions designed to ensure the continued success of Mafia Wars.
Thank you for your participation in PAC and we look forward to hearing your valuable feedback on the Mafia Wars Forums.
Sincerely,
The Mafia Wars Team"
Hope Jen Gets in again she dose a good job in the blog here and she dose a good job in the game also thanks heaps
ReplyDeleteThey have been talking about a PAC2 forever now so I'm kind of skeptical about that. Not sure I would want to do it again. I spent too much time on this stuff as it is and that only took time away from blogging. It was more an exercise of frustration. I did learn a lot, enjoyed the trip to San Francisco and the new friends I made so it wasn't a total waste of my time.
DeleteMaybe they don't like the negative tone of your blog...
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt that is a reason. I'm just one of 35 members. My blog is only negative when there is reason for it. Zynga supplies the reasons for my tone.
DeleteI'm not criticizing you for it. Zynga certainly deserves plenty of criticism. I'm just saying they probably don't appreciate it.
DeleteOnly 100 RP? That doesn't amount to very much (approximately $15....)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cheap of them considering all the free help they received...

True, a simple thank you would have been classier. This just shows that they put a value on what we did and the value to them obviously wasn't much. I never got the email or the reward points so I can't say much more about it. When I heard that players were getting this email, I wasn't going to post about it because of the NDA I signed. Since Mr.Simy0 posted it on the forums, it became fair game.
Deletemaybe i missed something, but what did the PAC accomplish? no criticism intended, but is the game better? I dont remember the PAC reporting much back to the players. maybe that was the mafia wars live episodes? EVERYTHING costs now, and the program designed to reward people that did spend failed. One thing i have noticed....no more stacked, FREE, gifting events. now i'm wishing i woulda never bitched about those....
Deleteso wish I was part of this! any info on how one would become part of?
ReplyDeleteOh boy! I new group of people will be chosen. I bet they won't listen to them either.
ReplyDeleteI think Jen's too controversial to be a face of Zynga. Too much water under the bridge and unfortunately it will detract from the effectiveness of PAC. Her time is better spent on her blog.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think Zynga should be embarrassed to give PAC members 10 reward points -- basically $15 -- for a year of service, including an intensive in-person meeting in San Fran, many online chats, extensive bug and feature tracking, and endless hours spent testing, all while dealing with misplaced hostility (including attacks) from other players. I hope the people in PAC 2.0 are respected by players and Zynga. And, seriously, when you ask so much from customers, it wouldn't hurt to give more meaningful in-game rewards. Perhaps PAC 2.0 needs a union?
ReplyDeletethe fact that I heard very little about PAC and they say it was around for a year? did Pac accomplish anything? All I ever heard was all the inter-circle fighting.
ReplyDeleteThe disillusion of the group proves to me that Z's statements were less than genuine when it said it cared about what the players thought about the game.
Now it is possible that the members chosen were no the ones truly qualified for the job, Maybe? If Z did truly care, they would keep PAC and try to find players who possess the attributes needed.
I find it strange that 35 young adults were unable to make any significant difference after a year, unless of course, Z was 86ing all their ideas?
Since I was not there I can only guess

There was never fighting within the PAC, in fact we all got along great despite our differences. The only "fighting" you have seen were the haters and most of them were on the Zynga forums. Many good things did come out of the PAC. The Family Module is one example. Many positive changes were made because of suggestions we made, we just didn't brag about every little thing. There were things that they simply could not do because of their metrics or what upper management prevented them from doing. The main problem with you not hearing much about it is we all signed NDA's and there was very little I or others were allowed to talk about. Zynga stopped listening and the person who created the PAC left the company. He was also the same person who created Mafia Wars Live and Get Satisfaction. We have all seen the focus shift away from the players and towards the money. The next version of the PAC will be much smaller and most likely will just be a continuation of what we did for the development team.
Deletesorry, i posted above, but this answers my question
DeleteNow I know what's wrong with Mafia Wars. Their "Player Advisory Committee", is loaded with a bunch of self serving, Script writers, Loot sellers, and, wanna-be Podcast moguls. All looking to make a buck for THEMSELVES ONLY, from Mafia Wars popularity. Is it any wonder their sage advice has lead us to where we are now? Advisers giving advice to zynga on how to steer the $ away from the game, to themselves. Those clowns at zynga are as dumb as the day is long...
