Mafia Wars VIP Membership Program

Share:

Some players are getting a test popup for a “New VIP Membership”. You are promised “amazing benefits” to include extra help in the form of additional property parts, special loot and crew, extra skill points for level ups and the ability to exchange city cash every week (for 10 reward points). You get 50 skill points for signing up and they promise more. The cost varies depending on which popup you get but if you buy months in bulk, it’s a little cheaper. There is a 12 Month option but not many aren't confident the game will be around that long. I wouldn't make an investment like that.
vp1

There appear to be several versions of this popup. The one below sounds like a better deal. it offers 40 free reward points a week and exclusive discounts plus the ability to reallocate 25 skill points each week. Adding more than 501 mafia will certainly change the game as the equipment scores will reflect this change.
This one promises 40% faster fighting, jobbing and crafting. If they can do it for people who pay $24.97 a month then why can't they make this happen now! Slow game play is a main reason why many have quit and now we have evidence that Zynga can do something about it.
Currently, this is only a test. If you try click the “Join Now” button you will get a popup explaining the VIP Membership Plan is not yet available. If you did click the button then you will have priority enrollment when it rolls out later this year. It looks like Zynga was prepared for the obvious rhetorical questions!  Why would anybody pay a membership fee for a game that hardly works? They state they are “researching opportunities to improve the game for our players”.
vp2
Test accounts that get this popup also have a Home Page banner. it says “Thank you for taking the survey” but I wasn’t offered a survey. They probably know what most would say.
vp3
Before investing any money in hopes to get extra benefits in the game, I would be very careful. What Zynga considers amazing is much different than what we the players do. We all know what happened to the last program Zynga implemented that promised benefits!

    & 50 skills for joining.

  5. yet another half baked loyalty program except this time they are trying to charge $15/month; now did they really think we would really fall for this one a second time, not only is zynga clueless when it comes to mafia wars, they are in fact driving away mafia wars players away aggressively. Listen up and pay attention to your mafia wars players and the Players Advisory Committee already!!

  7. 40% faster fighting & jobbing may mean faster regen not that performance is faster.

  10. If you bought into the "Loyalty Program" stupidity and DIDN'T LEARN ANYTHING, then this new program is definitely for you!

I continue to be glad that I have never spent any money on this game.

    2. So what's going to happen when Facebook cancels your account are you going to get your money back, is your subscription going to stand? You know how they love deactivating accounts over adding friends to which the game calls for. What Happens when Zynga decides to cancel your account over something stupid as well. You'll just have to open another account and dish out even more money or try your best to get in contact with these a**holes to fix their b*llsh*t.For an example, they can raise City Weapons to fit the levels appropriately. They are obsolete for higher levels.I completely agree with you Anonymous. They suck, are too greedy and I will not be their paying sucker. It's not like I own this game wtf!!!

  11. 40% faster means, you can play on a unthrottled server - has nothing to do with regen :-)
what do you think, why the performance is so bad each weekend now? Zynga is preparing for this VIP program.
I like the VIP program, but i fear, much players will leave again. And i really find it unfair, that some players are on a faster server. This is the only point i dont like, coz it's unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  12. they said the loyalty program was out of wack becasue too many folks had lots of loyalty points and would unbalnce the playing field.

NOW they deliberately make two playing fields!??? Oh well, folks that use the credit card already will see this as a great deal and the rest of us freeloaders will just be left deliberately behind now. you get what you pay for, I guess

  13. out of their minds greedy people

  14. Should be better a 100% faster attend people complains and fix the problems when they appear,,,and not say we're working on it sorry for the inconvenients

    ReplyDelete
  15. Letting people have more than 501 mafia will really change the dynamics of the game, and not in a good way. That's a massively unfair advantage. I've stuck with it for a year and a half, and that would make me quit.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Something else they will roll out never upgrade or improve. It will be left to rot and collect dust until they are forced to shut it down. And relaunch something else.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1st option for me is the best, if they give me 1 skill point extra every time I level up this means 4 skill points/per day.which is the same as 12RP = 4skill points(Marketplace).so in a month is like you have spent 360RP or gained 120 extra skill points!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. They need to add new fight loot sooner, or getting more fighting loot does nothing for us.

    ReplyDelete
  19. this is (once again) rewarding people with credit cards and not ones who play all the time. does zynga want to charge us to play or make us want to be on longer so we see their advertisers messages? that is supposed to be the deal - play alot and strategize to get a better character...you are on longer exposing their advertisers messages longer (log on time) and they make money. oh well-it was nice while it lasted...guess i will have to find another way to waste time.

    ReplyDelete
  20. To be honest I don't have a problem with it. Granted I feel it is steep, but I know of few games that are free. Figure the money invested in a xbox plus games is a much higher price than this. But I don't feel an unfair advantage will benefit zynga as MW will lose alot of players. If CC players invest money, they should be granted perks. No I'm not a platinum or diamond player, but if I was I would be greatly disappointed not to be able to benefit from investing that kind of money in MW.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have always felt that CC players really got nothing extra in the way of perks for the money than what was available to non cash players could get in play BUT this will create an unfair advantage. I think if they are going to un-level the playing field then the non-cash players will die off, which is most likely what they are hoping for, and when the game is only for pay the fields will go back to leveled.....

  21. earlier they conned us to use Reward Points, now they are directly conning us to invest money instead of RP's...another super flop idea from the Land of Zyngons...

  23. They're testing to see how many players are going to click to join their sucker program. If they get too many clicks to join then this is going to be our future with this game. "Pay or get beat up by the ones who pay Zynga". Don't forget that Zynga is now a public company and they have to show to the analysts that they're making lots of money or face the downgrades by them if they don't meet their projections regarding income. I won't pay a Penny to Zynga to support their stupid ideas.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wonder how long the game will last once Zynga succeeds in their mission to drive every non-dollar spending player away from the game. I understand they are a business out to make a profit but surely they realise that there will not be enough spending players to sustain interest in the game. I imagine their eventual solution to lack of players will be to generate their own automated players but that is not going to fool anyone. Without us who are the spenders going to fight and rob? Who is going to click their links? How much satisfaction is there going to be knowing that 90% of what one can hope for in the game is controlled by random calculations by a computer and not by real people.

  33. sad part is many including people on this site will be partaking,in effect showing zynga that this is a good idea..anyone who buys into it is knowingly taking part in the last hit this game will take, people need some1 to stand behind ad say no,ot have them run towards it,i believe this is the end, they know most will quit if people have huge advantages over them, took many of us yrs to get to where we are all for them to change the playing field again,so they know many will quit, leaving a much smaller more manageable number to deal with ,which will save $ on costs and al,so they can decide whether to keep it going if its profitable for the small remaining few or can it altogether, either way being so few left its easier for them to deal with..and i agree the unlocked mw people started a whole path to ruin with the subscription crap, they opened the door and now zynga knows people are willing to pay and their ads sound quite a bit like unlocked's..funny right?whats funny to me is when the game is gone they will be the 1st in line to feel the pinch for charging

    ReplyDelete
  34. also without the cc players yes there would be no game but lets be real here, knowing zynga as we do,i am willing to bet at some point maybe even from the door all new content will be only for pay players, and without us free players the cc players are beat..they need us more than we need them, for jobs, wars etc etc targets in fights..could go on for days here so road goes both ways on that one

    ReplyDelete
  35. I guess this will mean I quit....... I am tired of a game that does not work. I am not going to continue to play if I have little to no chance of ever being on a level playing field. It is a shame how many players have quit and will continue to quit if this is accepted.

    ReplyDelete
  36. this will hurt the game even more.when all the free players leave, cc players will be very strong with nobody to attack.
I would not be lured into breaking out the cc because I know I would not be able to compete with the players that just keep spending.
someone said without cc players there would be no game.
see if the game is worth playing when the size of you bank account is all that matters

    ReplyDelete
  37. smh - why would I pay for a free game that hardly works as it is???

  39. Time to move on and help the Zynga "Daily Player Chart" hit rock bottom. Bye bye

    ReplyDelete
  40. Clearly the first $15 pay option is targeted to newbie mafia wars players with the free property parts, special loot weapons, added crew, skill points for leveling up, city cash for up to 10rp per week.

Now accelerated property development, accelerated special loot weapons and ability to add crew even though one has small mafia, and the extra skill points for every time one levels up and an extra 10rp in exchange for city cash would all serve to give paying mafia wars player a very big advantage over those who are non-paying begineer mafia wars gaming players

The question naturally of course is a bottom line one; as well as; what would it do to the mafia wars game as a beginner.

How many beginning mafia wars players would leave the game versus how many beginning mafia wars players would stay with the game handing over the $15/month.

I get the feeling there would be more beginning mafia wars players leaving the game than has been previously recorded in mafia wars gaming history!

I would rather see zynga charge a more modest $5/month subscription fee for added extra benefits to the game mafia wars as that would have a better chance of attracting and retaining more beginning mafia wars players(over time) rather than all these more expensive and alienating below 3 options that would only serve to cause a further mass exodus of mafia wars gaming customers at all levels.

Its rather unfortunate that zynga is rather clueless and basically has not learned from its previous mistakes at all.

Does zynga even understand anything at all about the mafia wars gaming dynamic and even about attracting and retaining mafia wars gaming players at all levels anymore!

  41. I wonder of those that run scripts if it will make them work 40% faster. If so, just great, I'm already on a few's rivals that like spending a ton of money. I'm gonna feel that!! lol

    ReplyDelete
  42. $24.95 /month is a lot for a poorly coded game. Dont get me wrong, I like to play it but any player NOT choosing to pay this up will loose touch with the "competetive" scene and wont be able to keep up. I know its like this since the beginning but this might be too obvious. The MW player base will be put to a real test this time around. To quit or not to quit.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sorry but this is a dumb idea from start to finish. They are now expecting players to buy a fully functioning game with benefits. Why??? AGAIN it's all about the money, NOT the game and deffo NOT the players. ALL MW players want is a game that works, yes there will always be issues but they are never dealt with and new ones appear.

I have been playing this game for over 2 years (1 year seriously) and I think we are actually seeing the beginning of the end for MW. Zynga is grasping at straws now offering things that we all know that won't deliver 100% of the time. For money they will allow even greater advantage to those with the money to pay. What about the daily players who play all day/every day who simply don't have that kind of money ???

One simple message to Zynga needs to be shouted out by ALL MW players. FIX THE GAME.........end of. We don't want promises, we don't want VIP Membership, WE WANT OUR FUN GAME BACK.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have never nor will I ever pay to play this game and all I can say to those who pay $ is: Have fun in this game without having those who do not pay in it because now all you will have is "whoever spends more, wins!" You will miss us, I guarantee it!.

Finally the push I need to quit this game, so shortly after this becomes a reality I will leave.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wow - we now can pay for the privelage of the developers' ineptitude and glitches AND at the same time have an even greater sense of entitlement to the glitches being fixed
(Something we all know is like believing in santa clause, the tooth dairy, the cheque is in the mail etc)
Perhaps if attention was paid to fixing some of the basic problems first (I think that's what is commonly called customer service)such as fixing the ice count so it counts properly - then maybe some of us long time loyal players MIGHT take such developements seriously

    ReplyDelete
  46. As soon as they announced an IPO I knew that you'd start seeing things like this. It's the nature of a publicly held company. If they make $50M this quarter they need to make $60M the next quarter. It's never ending..

I played for 3 years and I called it quits one day. It was much easier than I thought it would be and it was the best decision that I've made in 3 years.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Never in a million years. As soon as this becomes an option I will leave the game. I enjoy playing but I will not compete against people who are willing pay for privileges that cannot be earned in other ways. Two very different classes of players will never work and once all the non CC players leave the game - then what? Too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  48. when i first started playing mw moscow just opened up. im thinking that was a few years ago cant remember. that was when i first started spending money. after a few weeks i learned how to manage playing and leveling yet keeping a high w/l ratio. 2-3 years later which is now. im level 10k plus leveling 40+ a day not spending one dime. if ppl learn to play the correct way they will never have to spend money on this game and yet have plenty of rp to buy whatever. sad to see that the cc players are spending $ on a game and never getting ahead

    ReplyDelete
  49. Doesn't a ponzi scheme promise you brilliant returns and benefits too? Get a clue Zynga, we only put up with the bs because it is free....

    ReplyDelete
  50. Just another Zynga's scam for people's money

    ReplyDelete
  51. If it has not been said I will. Call it now as clan forethought. The 40% faster jobs and fight is only 40% faster timers and the faster builds means shorter rebuild timers. That's all your paying for and maybe some more loot yet it will be imballance causing a mazes leaving of the game

    ReplyDelete
  52. NEWSFLASH.... Z does NOT care if a bunch of whiners who contribute nothing to their business success quit the game. I will be quite happy to spend a little money and crush even more fre-loaders than i do now

    ReplyDelete
  53. I started on Facebook a little over 3 years ago with the only reason was to play the games. I played quit a few Zynga games throughout that time but didn't enjoy any of them like I did MWars. Well, after being a 2 plus year player of MW, I threw my hands up in December and quit the game to get my life back. The non-stop begging events is what was the last straw. My poker game was glitched for 3 months and could not sign on without getting an error and they couldn't fix it. I QUIT ALL ZYNGA RELATED GAMES and will NEVER play one of theirs ever again. All they care about is getting your money without caring about providing 1st class customer service. They tried buying me off with RP's all the time instead of fixing what was broken.
In the end, I enjoy my life again without feeling like a addict to my pc. My kids enjoy me quitting the most. Folks, screw Z and all just quit their games because they don't care about you, just getting your money!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Heck - I will just buy a metal detector instead : )

    ReplyDelete
  55. CC players will continue to pay against other CC players, as they currently do. Will they pay the $15/25 per month? That will depend on whether it is worth it. As it stands right now, CC players will still be able to buy RP. I don't see the playing field being unfair, as you have choice as to whether or not you pay to play. I would like to see the bugs fixed too. I may try the monthly subscription.

As an investor, (not in Zynga), we like to see companies with a recurring monthly charge.

    ReplyDelete
  56. People will buy regardless of the reward. They want to be the strongest and best. The thing that makes this totally unfair is the 501 mafia members thing,, if they only add 100 and make it 601 that will mean peoples attack and defense for mafia skills will go up by more than 50000 or to prove a point my mafia defence and attack is 300 000 it will jump to 350 000. I have many people that see if they can beat me on a regular basis and if they do this I am sure they will sit on me making me purchase this,, which I will not do.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Being a fair player, I'm over level 6000 but can NEVER win a fight (not even once) against a player with the same level. My mafia is over one thousand players. What if I...NAH

    ReplyDelete
  58. If you put money into the game, why shouldn't you get extra benefits? Why shouldn't you have an advantage? The CC players keep the game free for everyone else, so why are so many complaining about having to pay extra money to enjoy benefits if they don't spend money on the game to begin with? Damn right CC players should get advantages over non-paying players.

I personally think the more money you've put into the game, the greater the benefits should be.

    ReplyDelete
  59. ^

Well you won't have to worry about non-paying players complaining as they're won't be *ANY* such players *IF* the 'extra benefits' go to the point of making the game completely unbalanced.

Consequences of this are obvious....an increasingly smaller group of mafia wars players will get even smaller to the point where the game will be DOA in a short time.

  62. Some information regarding these VIP packages. I have now got the REAL offer on 2 accounts.

    Account 1:
JOIN NOW for only $19.97 per month and enjoy amazing benefits!
Over 40% faster fighting, jobbing, and crafting
7% fewer items needed from Mafia for properties, quests, jobs, and special events
FREE delivery of 15 Reward Points every week

    Account 2:
JOIN NOW for only $19.97 per month and enjoy amazing benefits!
Free delivery of 40 Reward Points each week
The ability to buy skill point reallocation at least once anytime every day
Extra VIP loot drops from jobbing, fighting, and robbing
Reward Points at a 40% or greater discount all the time

Account 1 has had this offer only 1 time so far, but Account 2 has had its offer 2 times now.

There is NO choice to select any other package and there is NO option for the monthly/3 monthly/yearly payment. It is MONTHLY only.

So the fairness to all players Zynga keep going on about is not apparent with the VIP packages.

    ReplyDelete
  63. They might as well cancel the VIP program because, just like Trader Goh's, Zynga fails to keep it upgraded and updated. It's absolutely useless when you can build better items from the plethora of property builds that they are inundating the players with at this present time.
Boss fights and family battles are slowly eroding away because the loot is not worth it anymore. I would suggest that Zynga keep its product much fresher to not only enhance game play, but also give players things to do that are actually worth their time playing.
After 4 years of playing I have seen many changes in the game itself, at this time it's getting easier to walk away from it.
