Juliana and her Poker Cards are back and Mafia Poker Season 2 is here. If you missed all the action in the first season, go here for a review of how Mafia Poker works. There is are a few differences (some good, some bad) but most of the event remains the same.

We get more 3 extra days this season and Juliana covers up her cleavage. I guess she doesn’t feel the need to show some skin because she is sharing the banner with a motorcycle instead of the creepy Fortune Teller.

The big difference between the two Mafia Poker Seasons is how we acquire Poker Cards. You will notice they are not on the Free Gift Page this time around.

Other than purchasing Poker Cards with reward points, the only way to get them is through using the news feeds. There is now a “Ask Cards” button on the Home Page banner. When you click on it, it auto-posts to your wall and a timer of 4 hours is initiated.

You can also ask for Poker Cards from the Mafia Poker Page but only if you have less than 5.

When your mafia members click on your request, you will get a Poker Card and they will get one too.

It appears we can get 15 Poker Cards from the request. I won’t know if this is daily or every 4 hours. We are allowed to ask for Artillery Shells and Reinforced Concrete once every 6 hours but are limited to 20 per day. UPDATE: You can ask for Poker Cards every 4 hours but once you hit the max for the day, you won’t get anymore. I got 15 on two accounts, Mike Nestor got 17 and I’ve seen other numbers reported. It’s unclear how many you can get each day.

Once you have received the maximum number of Poker Cards from your request, the feed will return expired. It’s says “Try again later” so I’m hoping this is a sign that we will be able to get Poker Cards every 4 hours.

You can get many more Poker Cards by helping your mafia. If you don’t like to play the scroll, click and load game, use the Stream Scanner to search for Poker Cards. The tab you are looking for is  “Mafia Poker” and the requests say “Send a card”.

I got 120 Poker Cards from my scan before I hit the limit. I’m not sure if this is going to be every 24 hours or every 4 hours and won’t know until 4 hours has passed. It would be nice if Zynga used a more specific word than “later”, tomorrow or in 4 hours would be much better! UPDATE: I was able to scan for more Poker Cards at the 4 hour mark and this time collected 148 before reaching the limit. I still don’t know if this was because of the midnight reset or if we can collect more cards every 4 hours. There doesn’t seem to be much consistency between accounts so it’s very hard to say how many Poker Cards we can collect per day. Maybe Zynga will let us know!

Once I hit the max, I had 135 Poker Cards. The 15 I got from asking and the 120 I got for sending.

If we are limited to 120 plus the ones our mafia send to us then it’s going to be much more difficult to master this season. In the first Mafia Poker, we could accept up to 250 per day and many had trouble finishing.

Once you gather enough Poker Cards, it’s time to play Mafia Poker. The rules and strategies have not changed. Win the hand and you get credit towards mastery. It’s best to conserve Poker Cards so the 5 Card No Draw strategy works best. For a review of poker basics and this strategy, go here.

The loot reward is a Single Malt. Once you get 10, 25, 50, 80 and 120 wins, you will get one with the stats shown below. Last season we got to keep them all.

For Mafia Poker Season 1, we needed a total of 150 wins to gain 100% mastery. Needing 30 less wins will help a lot.
