The Big Heist End Date

The Big Heist Home Page Module has been removed from the game and you can no longer ask for them via a news feed post.

They are still available on the Free Gift Page so you can send them to your mafia members or make gift links.

The "Rob All" button is still present on the Robbing Page and Rob Squads work.

You still get double the loot and a experience point bonus when you use them.

According to the Customer Support Big Heist FAQ Page, the feature was tentatively scheduled to run for a week. It's now been 10 days. The removal from the Home Page may be a sign that the Big Heist will soon be over. Maybe the guy who removed the Home Page Module just forgot to turn it off and will do so when he goes back to work. I'm not sure what will happen to the Rob Squads that you have already collected but pending gift requests will most likely convert to Mystery Bags. I really hope they leave the "Rob All" button and let us clear Robbing Boards in one click.

Trader No-Goh: Always Open

A few days ago, Zynga updated the Lucky Stash Loot. Whenever this happens (which is frequently), the complaints about ignored features start rolling in. Features that require or promote the use of Reward Points are always updated.

I've gone over the Crime Spree, Treasure Chest and Loyalty Program features and how badly they need updating in the past.  As of today nothing has changed. We were told on more than one occasion that these features are most likely not going to be updated.

There is one feature in need of an update that you rarely see anyone ask about. Trader Goh's Pawn Shop was requested by the players and we were all really excited for it to enter the game. The excitement died on the day it was implement (Jan 7th, 2011).  Zynga threw in a twist and Reward Points were required to utilize it. Loot becomes useless very fast in Mafia Wars and there has only been one update of 3 items on April 20th. Almost all the items are useless which is ironic since the intent of the feature is to get rid of junk. This should be all the proof we need to know that players are not using it. If they were, we would see regular updates. I bet Trader Goh is pretty pissed off that nobody visits his shop.

Here are all 19 items that are available in Trader Goh's Pawn Shop. We get much better loot just for playing the game for free. They need to reduce the number of Reward Points needed for each item to reflect the decrease in value or just get rid of this feature.

New York Cash in the Marketplace

There are a lot of us slowly struggling to get the What's After Trillion achievement. Over a year ago, I posted the most efficient strategy (1) but it's very time consuming. Today, the strategy will be faster because of the addition of 8 hour energy packs but Zynga keeps rolling out new destinations and events that require us to work outside of New York. Increasing the cap on hitlist bounties to 1 Trillion will help with this achievement in theory but the hitlist feature is very under utilized.

You can buy New York cash in the Marketplace, but the amount that is offered is laughable. I need 999 Trillion so $59,413,000 isn't going to do much for me or any other player. If they want to increase sales of this item in the Marketplace, it would make sense to increase the amount.

Looking at what I need compared to what is available for purchase helps to grasp the big picture. If I wanted to buy the What's After Trillion achievement, it would cost around 170,000,000 Reward Points.

I can get more cash for free than I can in the Marketplace by doing the New York Boss Tier job "Make Arrangements for a Visiting Don" on time. It only costs 36 energy and I get $80,500,000! I'm a Mogul so I will get more for this job than players who have the Fearless of Maniac class.

I would much rather spend my energy doing  the job above over and over again but my payout for the Agostino Cleto Boss Fight is much more. This is the most boring and annoying way to utilize my energy but it's the only way I will ever get the What's After Trillion achievement unless Zynga comes up with some more ways to make more New York cash.

Bitter In Bangkok

By now most of us have probably fallen victim to the Zynga slow roll. It's even more traumatizing when there is a timer involved. Just about every Customer Support FAQ addresses the slow roll but it's inconspicuously left out of the Betrayal In Bangkok FAQ. I have seen several players state that they don't have the Mission. A few days ago one of my mafia members sent me an image of his Missions Bar. You can see it is blank and the drop down Mission Log only shows the last limited time Mission.

He could still view the timer but there was no Mission to perform.

To make the situation even worse, he was also the victim of Mission Tease. Clicking on the yellow help mark produced the Mission popup and made our player feel hopeful and excited. Unfortunately, clicking on the "Get Started!" button produced nothing.

He took it up with Customer Support and was told that the system showed the Mission was active and he was currently working on the first part.

Once he responded to the contrary with evidence in the form of screen shots, he was informed that he was a victim of the slow roll and would be taken care of if he didn't get the opportunity to finish it in time.

Meanwhile, the timer is ticking and our Missionless player waits and stares at some jacked up code above his timer.

Another Raven Idea on Get Satisfaction

We saw how Get Satisfaction can be an effective tool for the players to communicate with Zynga and get results when the Requiescat in Pace Centesimus achievement was removed from the game (1). This was one of many flaws with The Raven feature. Much more has to happen before the community as whole will start liking and utilizing this feature. Most choose to ignore it. The next big idea comes from one our admin of the  Mafia Wars Loot Lady Fan Page. Leonard Wong started the Get Satisfaction Idea shown below. Leonard asks (very politely) if it would be possible for us to to activate the 8 hour timer once The Raven appears. If you like this idea, go here and like and/or comment.

It would be really nice and very practical if we, the players, had some control over when The Raven timer is activated. I can accept the fact that The Raven will only appear every 3 days. What I have do have a problem with is when The Raven appears right before I'm going to go off line. What are players who have to work, sleep, or do something in real life suppose to do? The have no choice but to let The Raven go. At some point yesterday, The Raven appeared in my account. The problem for me was that I didn't realize it and went to bed. I'm not a big sleeper so I was lucky to wake up in time but my timer was down to less than 2 hours. I would have been screwed if I got a full 8 hours of sleep.

We are required to click on the "fight" button before we can start this Boss Fight. Why can't the timer start once we do that? This way we could choose a time when we know we will be on line and start farming consumables.

There also should be better notifications in the game when The Raven appears. Missions are quite obnoxious about it and I don't think anyone has ever missed one. The Raven will appear on the fightlist, one of the later Home Page Modules and on The Operations Page. If you aren't looking on any of these pages, you won't realize he is there. I could go on forever about the poor drop rates of Ammo, but that's an idea the developers are very much aware of and chose not to properly adjust it so enough could be found in a 8 hour time frame.
