Secret District: Lexington Hotel Walk Through

Share:

The new Secret District is called Lexington Hotel and is based in Chicago. It will be available for a total of two weeks and the timer will expire on December 27th at 4:00 PM (Pacific Time). There are several ways to get to the Lexington Hotel. Use the Home Page banner, Chicago Job Page or the Travel Bar.
The story behind the Lexington Hotel is it was used by Al Capone and it the perfect place for Mafia Wars players to set up shop.
In real life the Lexington Hotel no longer exists because it was demolished in 1995. It was in fact where Al Capone set up shop and there were secret tunnels and a vault hidden underneath it. Al Capone's Vault was opened on live television in 1986 by Geraldo Rivera and there was nothing inside.
The Lexington Hotel does exist for Mafia Wars players. The Job Page image tells a story as you progress through the 4 levels of mastery.

Bronze
Silver
Gold
Ruby
There are a total of 9 jobs. The job names, requirements and payouts for each level are shown below.

Bronze

The experience/energy ratios are once again disappointing and the worst we have seen from any Secret District so far. The best ratio from a job that doesn't require consumables is 1.89.

* Job requires 1 Lexington Room Key per click
**Job requires 1 Lexington Room Key and 18 Clams per click

You can't stay at the Lexington Hotel if you don't have a room key.  The consumable item is the Lexington Room Key.
You can acquire Lexington Room Keys by doing the job "Set Up at the Lexington". If you prefer this method over free gifts, farm them early. The job cost is 864 on the Ruby Level and only 144 on Bronze. For details on the best strategy to farm consumables, go here.
The easiest way to get Lexington Room Keys is to use the free gift system.
Use the link below to go directly to the send page.
The fastest way to get Lexington Room Keys is to blast them to your mafia and wait for the return gifts to come rolling into your ZMC. Use the Gift Blaster by Team Spockholm to make the process easy.
Lexington Room Keys are required for three of the nine jobs (Job #3, #5 and #8) and are shown below.
It's easy to figure out how many Lexington Room Keys will be needed because each of the jobs have the same percentage of mastery per click. Each job needs 17 clicks to gain 100% mastery. There are a total of 4 levels per job so each level will require 68 Lexington Room Keys for a grand total of 204.

I don't usually post the job equipment requirements but many ask. I sold everything in my Chicago City Store before starting and figured out what was needed by looking at my items after ruby mastery was achieved. All equipment items are required  for the bronze level and no additional items are needed for the silver-ruby levels. If you own a Ruby Level Abelha Helicopter which is the mastery item for District 4 in Brazil, your City Store Items will cost 10% less.
Below are all the job equipment items you will need to finish the Lexington Hotel and their prices. Prices are in Clams and are with a 10% City Store discount. You will need a total of 12,613 Clams to advance to the Silver Level and beyond.

*Costs assume a Ruby Level Abelha Helicopter is in your inventory.

There are 4 loot items that randomly drop from all jobs in the district. The stats aren't going to help the masses but there is a new twist to Secret Districts which I will explain below.

Newsbreaker
Barrel Cart
Lobby Torpedo
Snorky's Fedora
Zynga must have caught wind of the fact that players don't utilize Secret Districts when the ratios suck and the loot items don't help. There is now some incentive to loot the items shown above. A tracker has been added on top of the job page image and skill point rewards are being offered to players who acquire a certain numbers of loot items. The tracker lists the number of loot items you own and the number of loot items you need to get the listed bonus. It also shows you how many 2X Loot boosts (explained below) and Lexington Room Keys you have in your inventory. For reasons unknown, the Snorkey's Fedora isn't listed on the tracker.
If you click the down arrow located to the far right, the bonuses are explained and there are options to purchase any of the items listed (don't do it!).
When you acquire 10 of each loot item shown on the tracker, you will be rewarded with +5 attack points.
Get 25 of each item and you get +5 defense points. The items you acquired for the first bonus carry over so you don't have to start at zero.
Once you get 50 of each item, you get +5 skill points to use anywhere you want. These are one time bonuses so if you get to 50 there will be nothing more for you.
This sounds simple enough and even awesome in theory. Don't get too excited because the drop rates are not good. If you are going to go for these bonuses, you best better stay on the Bronze Level. There is no significant difference in the drop rate between levels and you will spend a lot more energy if you advance. In the run below, I did the Bronze Level job "Construct Secret Passages and Exits" 1,039 times. This job has the best experience/energy ratio (1.77) of all the jobs that do not require consumables. 121,562 energy was used and I got 15 Newsbreakers, 19 Barrel Carts and 14 Lobby Torpedos.
I did the same job the same number of times on the Ruby Level. I had to get creative because of a bug that affects accounts that are at 100% mastery on the Ruby Level (1). The bug is preventing RepeatJob from working. I used an auto-mouse and took images of my items before and after the run.
This time I spent 729,78 energy and got 14/13/14 items. On the Bronze Level, I spent 121,562 energy and got 15/19/14 items. If you are going for the skill point bonuses, it should be a no brainer to keep it parked on bronze. Just make sure you leave enough time to master the other levels because you get +10 skill points and a better mastery item if you do.
To make loot acquisition easier, a 2X Loot boost is available. You get these boosts by asking and helping your mafia. You can also buy them with Reward Points. At some point after release, the cost was reduced from 3 Reward Points to 2.
2X Loot Boosts do just as promised. They are only utilized in Secret Districts and are only consumed when one of the three loot items drop. They don't get consumed when Lexington Room Keys or other loot drops. I wish all boosts were so specific. It's nice not to see them go to waste.
You can get 5 of them by asking your mafia and generating a news feed request. Click on the "Ask" button from the tracker drop down page.
When your mafia members click on "Give 2X Loot Boost", they will get one too.
You need to be fast as each request only provides 5 boosts before it is killed.
I'm not sure how often we can ask for these boosts. I was able to make 2 requests within an hour of each other and got 5 2X Loot Boosts per request. When you can't ask for them, the "Ask" button is not visible. I will update you if I see a pattern. If we are limited on making these requests, Zynga should add a timer.
You are allowed to collect up to 30 2X Loot Boosts by helping your mafia. This can be done once per day and resets at midnight in the Pacific Time Zone for me. I'm not sure if the reset time is the same for every player or if it is at midnight local time. Please comment if you know the answer to this. When you hit your limit of 30, Zynga will let you know.
If you don't feel like going on a Spam Safari searching for the 2X Loot Boost feed requests, use the Stream Scanner by Team Spockholm to make things easier. The requests are located under the "job" tab and say "Give 2X Loot Boost".
Another way to get 2X Loot Boosts is to put them on your wishlist. Use the Boosts Tab in your inventory and click on the green plus sign.
The item will appear on your wishlist and you can ask your mafia members who don't plan on doing the Secret District (ie...your mini) to send them over. I imagine there will be plenty of extras. They are only used when loot drops and as you saw above, loot doesn't drop very often. Players with low energy will never be able to use the ones they acquire so if your shot on these boosts, it probably won't be hard to find them.
To send unwanted 2X Loot Boosts to your mafia, use the Gifting Page.
You will also find them on the Gift-a-Nator by Team Spockholm.
When a 2X Loot Boost is utilized, it will tell you above the image of the loot drop and a green border will be present. Did I mention I really like that these boosts aren't wasted on jobs that don't drop any or useless loot?
I wanted to see what happens when you initiate the Chicago Lockpick Bonus. The Lockpick bonus also offers 2X the loot for the next 20 jobs.
I took a screen shot before I did a job and I had 14 Lobby Torpedos and 6 2X Loot Boosts.
When a Lobby Torpedo dropped, one of my 2X Loot Boosts were used and so was the Lockpick bonus. I got 4 items and ended up with 18 Lobby Torpedos.
There doesn't appear to be a cap on how many 2X Loot Boosts you can hold at a time. I currently have 63 and was able to generate another request for more.
When you fully master each level, you get a mastery item called the Lexington Limo. The stats start off as 121/55 on the Bronze Level and improve to 181/82 for the Ruby Level.
Zynga is requesting we take a survey regarding this Secret District. To put in your two cents (assuming they listen and aren't just after numbers), go to http://zyn.ga/Ek0. They need to increase the energy ratios, loot drop rates and stats to make this event fun for all players.

This item has drop for twice now in the new district. Once with lock-pick activated. just completed silver. So drop sucks.

  2. jen,
One comment about collecting these items just for ten skill points, either atk/def, with the lower energy ratio, you would be better of spending it in Brazil with its better ratio's to uplevel, and would be quicker in gaining these 10 points, for me, I wont be collecting any extra, once this level is completed.
