Early this morning, the School Of Choice was introduced to the game. The concept is great and many are more than happy to donate to a good cause. For all the details on how you can help and upgrade at the same time, go here. I outlined bugs and problems with the donating system that Zynga chose. Some of these issues have been fixed but the process is still flawed. You now get the part instantly and are directed back to the Property Upgrade Page but you still have to do a lot of foot work to get one part. Here is the process that needs to be repeated for each part that you purchase.
Click #1
"Buy 1 for $0.5 USD"
Click #2
"Buy Part"
Click #3
"Close"
Click #4
"Continue"
Repeat.....
In addition to the 4 clicks, you need to wait for page loads and it is very time consuming. In the example below, I purchased 10 Galvanized Steel parts. This cost me 5 dollars and would have been much easier to do if there was an option to buy the 10 parts that I wanted. Instead I had to go through the process shown above 10 separate times. It took a total of 40 clicks and a lot of time waiting for page loads.
Not only was it time consuming, it did a number on my PayPal account. Look at all the individual transactions. I can't imagine what a credit card company would do about this type of activity.
Zynga is not maximizing the potential for the proceeds to the School Of Choice in Haiti. If they offered players a way to buy upgrade parts in bulk, the School of Choice would get many more donations. Not everybody has the time or patience for all the clicking involved.
The only option to buy more than one upgrade part is to upgrade all the way to Level 10. Players who want to donate 10 or 20 dollars have to do a lot of work in order to do that. Not everybody has a budget in which they can afford to donate $140 to charity.
If you want to donate a smaller amount, it's much easier to go directly to the L’Ecole de Choix School of Choice in Haiti site and make a contribution. Unfortunately many players will choose not to donate as much as they would like because Zynga isn't making it easy.
If we can buy items from the Marketplace in bulk, why can't we do it when we want to give to a charity? This was obviously something not thought out by Zynga and the children of Haiti will be the ones who lose.
