The New Year's Resolution Event comes with a twist and the community gets to decide which three loot items will receive upgraded stats. The results are determined by how many votes each item gets.
If the community comes together and chooses the same item then we will all end up with more Henchman in our inventory with stats of 122/122. If we leave it to chance and select different items we will be stuck with items that have stats of 102/102. One of the new fight loot items has an attack score of 103 and the New Year's Resolution items that have stats of 102 won't help the many players who are maxed out on Traceurs.
Many players have asked me to make a post and select the item that we should all vote for. The obvious choice is Ms. PAC Party because Jana Gucci is a well known and liked player in the Mafia Wars community.
Unfortunately, the Shadow King is in the first position. There are tens of thousands of players out there who aren't active in the community and have no clue about anything other than what is in game. These players will naturally gravitate to the Shadow King because he is first. Zynga should rotate the positions so all the loot items have a fair chance. If we were strategic, we would all promote the Shadow King but most would like to see Jana win first place. If Jana wins this will also send a message to Zynga that the community is a very integral part of the game. The community is who keeps Mafia Wars alive.
Many post current updates on the voting results. In typical Zynga fashion, they fail to show us a loot leaderboard. We only know how many votes there are for an item if we vote for it.
Team Spockholm came to the rescue and create a script that will tell us how many votes each item has in current time. The script will be named and posted by Team Spockholm in the near future. I will update this post when that happens. The script is run on the Voting Page.
When activated, you will get a list of how many votes each item has. I ran this right before I voted for Jana in the image above. You can see by the results it's very accurate. It's only off by 3 votes because 3 people voted in the time between.
It's important to spread the word and let people know they should vote for Ms. PAC Party. The more players who vote the same, the more loot with great stats we will see in our inventory.

if your a lower level you dont get the shit anyways ie: level 290,. so Zynga always discriminates against lower level players.. dont matter what they put in the game unless your a higher level players you wont get it anyways..
ReplyDeleteWhy can't you just choose your free one each day and hold off on picking the ones for doing the 8 sections and the bonus one for doing the 8th sections until the very end and then pick all at once?
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree with your choice and the suggestion we all vote the same way.... when did Zynga ever listen? it will not send any message to them and they will not change anything, only a boycott on the purchase of rp for a week would get their attention, now if all Zynga players on all games did that.....

I really don't know who Ms. PAC/Jana is...although it's a nice idea to encourage ppl to vote for YOUR favorite to get better loot stats, I prefer to vote for MY favorite. Sorry, Ms. PAC isn't it. Besides, the top 3 will get increased loot stats anyway.

ReplyDeleteVote for Ms. Pacman. The idea that Zynga is posting running totals is unbelievable. Ballot stuffing in favor of Ms Pacman can overcome the strong tendency of the clueless to generally pick the first thing they come to.
I'd rather have a fist full of the 2nd place finisher than what Zynga might otherwise dictate. It is mathematically better than betting evenly on all the candidates. Besides, even the best of these are relatively modest in value and will be rendered obsolete in due course. Zynga will never let the players escape from the curse of seeking better loot forever and ever and ever.
Don't give up your day jobs.

@Anonymous, Martin just wrote the script and I tried it out for him. Alpha comes before Beta. Because this is for a limited time event it will probably go public and not have an official beta testing phase.

I think it's fine that you choose to "promote" the voting of whom you think is a good choice. You know the person Jana as a "person" who's well thought of in the MW Community. However, there are 1000's of us who have NO clue who Janna (Jana) is. I will vote for whom I like, not necessarily the first in the list, but the several that I do like. I'm not trying to take away how special Jana must be to others, and because this is your blog your allowed to promote what you please, but most will still vote either "with" you, or against you just because they know how to play on there own. I do apologize, I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't like the idea of coming together with the community to vote for one item in particular either. I also think that most people will vote for who they like, not just the first one on the list. Although, the shadow is pretty cool, so looking beyond what a loot item looks like, voting for whom we as individuals like should be encouraged as well.

ReplyDelete...I have given up on reacting to ANYTHING that Zynga does in and for Mafia Wars at first, second, or ninth blush - if what I am doing helps me in this or any other "special" event, fine...if not, I don't care...
...now, if the loot had stat bonuses, and didn't require me to sell myself under a red light (sending more email than the Hormel Corporation is blamed for in a decade!), I might care...but none of it does...
...so, Zynga, what-ever :(
