This & Next Week 11/25/2011

The next installment of This & Next Week has been posted on the Official Mafia Wars Blog. 
I normally don't comment on the stuff that happened "This Week" because it's already been reviewed and there is no sense in going back. I did laugh at one of the items and should point some things out.

This isn't anything that happened last week. Towards the end of September Facebook changed the way the news feeds are set up  This was a serious problem because not many Mafia Wars posts were visible in the news feeds. I wondered why Zynga wasn't more active in helping players around these issues. It took them over two months to make a post about it and they failed to point out some changes that happened on November 14th (1).  I didn't bother reprinting their post on this blog because we have gone over all of it many times. I was amused that the link one of our admins, Michael Voelzow, created by modifying a link that would show only Treasure Island posts was highlighted. I posted this link on September 27th (1).

Considering all the bugs we have to deal with, I wasn't very impressed with the bug fixes.

This Week's Major Bug Fixes
Fight Module Floats On Page and Won't Dock
Cider House - Prematurely Expired Request Feeds

I got a kick out of them claiming that the fight module floating on the page was a bug. This was something they did intentionally in hopes of improving fight performance. It was a big fail and they added the docking option back.

The removal of the Dock option was intended to improve the performance of the fight pop-up.

Nothing too exciting here. It will be a busy week trying to do an icing event, gift mastery event and a Secret District all at the same time but we should be used to it by now. We learn the name of the Secret District is Snake Island. For all the details about this Secret District, go here.

New Crates will be available next week. They are going to have something to do with tattoos. The Retro Game Crates were just released 10 days ago.
I wonder if the Tattoo Crates were from the Design A Crate Contest? I doubt it but remember that contest? They have yet to announce a winner.
When asked by players when the winners of the Crate Contest would be announced, Cerulean Master responded that it would hopefully be soon. That was in the middle of September. How long does it take? This wouldn't be the first time that Zynga didn't finish what they started. Chances are if something involves the community, they no longer care about it.

    boo another icing event didn't zynga say the final ice season will be in november but what's this.

    NY building parts and the Botanical Garden

    Zynga did it again! Instead of doing something in favor of all the players e.g. raising the limits of gifts in the ZMC and stop them from quitting the game, the code was changed once more making our playing time less entertaining.

    From now on whenever a property is upgraded all posts requesting building parts return Feed Expired as answer. I really do not understand this. Mafia Wars was supposed to be fun playing not making us face the new challenges the developers are presenting continuously.

    So, after the new changes there is no other solution but keep using the bookmarklet Mission Crew Link from Team Spockholm, in order to publish building parts' posts sooner than the 8 hours limit. All necessary information on how to use the bookmarklet can be found here.

    Although if you create too many building parts requests, there may be times your team mates may see as an answer that they have already answered to this post (when clicking more than one of your requests for building parts). Thanks to Brewok, a Mafia Wars Maniac family member, there is a solution to this as well. Just wait a few minutes, refresh your game screen and publish a new post or do a couple of jobs or fights and repost!

    PS. Did you see next week's news? A new gift mastery event is about to appear named Incognito. Without gift links, with the ZMC able to hold only 100 gifts, I have no idea how we'll manage to achieve full mastery.
