Secret District: City Of Traverse Walk Through

Share:

The new Secret District is the City Of Traverse which is themed after an old gambling boat that would take passengers across city lines so they could gamble without breaking any laws. It will be available for two weeks. The job experience/energy ratios are nothing like they were with the two previous Secret Districts and the loot isn't very helpful (except for one item). The jobs are high energy. The only good thing that is different is there isn't as much equipment to buy so those short on Clams shouldn't have too much trouble.
Use the Home Page Module (shown above), Travel Bar or Chicago Jobs Page to get to the City Of Traverse.
The City Of Traverse Page image changes slightly as you progress through each level.

There are a total of 9 jobs and here are the requirements and payouts for each job on each level.

The experience/energy ratios for each level are listed below. The best ratio is only 1.99 and of course it's one that needs a consumable.  These ratios are even more disappointing than Districts 4-6 of Chicago. Because the loot drop rates are so poor, the only good thing about Secret Districts was the good experience/energy ratios. It's as if Zynga determines what we like about certain features so they can totally nerf that aspect down the road.

There were only a few jobs in which I had to purchase equipment items. Jeff said on the last episode of the Mafia Wars insider that they wanted these Secret Districts to be fun so players weren't going to have to spend as much currency to get through them. I wish they would have felt the same way about the energy costs.
The consumable item needed for the City Of Traverse is the Horseracing Stub.
You can farm them by doing the third job "Oversee the Cruise Gambling Operations".  The job costs 126 energy on the Bronze Level so if you prefer this method over free gifts, farm them early and use your Chicago Crew Lockpick Bonus.
The easiest way to get a lot of consumables is to use the free gift system.
Two of the 9 jobs require Horseracing Stubs. "Prepare Alternate Telegraph Offices" is the 4th job down and "Get Rid of Any Evidence of Gambling" is the 7th job down. Each job uses 1 Horseracing Stub per click.
By using the mastery percentages of the jobs above, you can figure out how many Horseracing Stubs will be needed.  148 is the total number required to completely master the City Of Traverse.

There are 4 loot items that randomly drop from all jobs of the Secret District. The only one that will be useful to most players is the Harbor Master which is a defense henchmen.

Gambler's Fedora
Vintage Runabout
Harbor Master
Overall the stats aren't that great. Run the Show Worst Items bookmarklet by Team Spockhom to see if any of the loot will help you. The only item that will improve my equipment score is the Harbor Master and each one will only improve my defense score by +2. The drop rates are too ridiculous for me to even waste my time and energy to farm them (thanks to those poor experience/energy ratios) so I will be happy with my fight loot henchmen which have a defense score of 100. This time around, the Secret District is truly a finish and forget kind of event.
When you fully master each level, you get a mastery item called the Floating Casino. The stats start off as 58/118 on the Bronze Level and improve to 91/178 for the Ruby Level.
