The Botanical Garden was released on Friday and there has been a lot of confusion regarding the news feed requests. Many assume they are broken but that's not the case. There was a small change and part requests are no longer static meaning you need to generate new requests for each level. It's really not a big deal but has caused players to think they aren't working during the early levels of upgrading.
The rules are pretty simple. Generate your requests, upgrade and generate new requests. If you upgrade your property to the next level, all posts made for the previous level will expire.
There was a bug with the Cider House requests and all posts were saying "This feed has expired". This was resolved but many players reported that it was still happening due to the fact that requests get cut off once you upgrade. It's still unclear if this change is the result of a different bug or is something the developers intended. Cerulean Master did report the issue (1) and added it to the Known Issues (1). Once the developers respond to his report, we will have the answer. This change becomes a problem in the levels which require less than 6 parts to upgrade or when you are less than 6 parts away from the next level because you will only get enough parts needed to upgrade.

Botanical Garden - Prematurely Expired Request Feeds
Issue: All request feeds generated by the Botanical Garden are giving players a "This Feed Has Expired" error message once the current upgrade has been completed.
Status: Investigating. If you are experiencing this issue, please add your details to this Bug Report.

Each time you post a request for parts, you will get 6 parts total from the request. You won't get all 6 parts from the same request for levels requiring less. You will only get the number of parts needed to upgrade. To get from level 0 to level 1, you only need 3 parts. It would be a bad idea to use one of your individual part requests at this point in the upgrade process. You can only ask for these once every 8 hours so you're better off timing it to when you need more parts.
There are two different types of property part requests. Every 8 hours, you can ask for "any part" on the home page and an individual part of your choice from the upgrade page. The best way to keep your parts coming in is to use the Mission Crew Link Spocklet to generate any part requests. There is no time limit on how often you can post these requests and you will get 6 parts each time you do (assuming that 6 of your mafia members click on it and you need more than 6 parts to upgrade). The Mission Crew Link is very easy to use. Find it on the Spockholm Mafia Tools Experimental Page. Once it's installed or in your Spockholm Toolbar, just activate, click on Any Part and then post your link directly to your wall or copy and paste it to your group page.
Some other things to remember about these Limited Time Upgrade Properties are that you can only help 5 times a day. This is not limited to 5 people. You could help the same person 5 times a day but only once per feed. They don't even need to be in your mafia. This has given quite a few players a reason to fire up their alternate accounts. I don't know why they need to put a limit on how many people we can help. It doesn't seem right that this is a social game in which we help each other. We need 500 mafia members to play the game the way it's intended so why can we only help 5 of them?
You can also collect 3 parts a day from players bragging posts. Sometimes I've gotten more than 3 parts but 3 is what's written into the code. If you use the Stream Scanner, you might as well click on the "Get Parts" posts which are found under the "LimitedTimeProperty" tab. Three a day doesn't sound like much but in the span of a week it will come out to 21 extra parts.

Great post (as always) but my requests aren't posting at all. Not even those generated through the Spocklet. I waited a full 24 hours to see if the in-game links would work again, but they don't. The only way I've been able to get parts is by pasting the spock-generated link to my wall - The "Post to wall" link checks off, but nothing appears on my wall so it's copy, paste and pray for me :)

I think there is some confusion as to 'sending 5 parts'. I believe you can verify this, but it looks like you can send 5 OF EACH part, for a total of 15 clicks. Say you help send 2 saws from specific part links, and 3 saws from the any part posts, then no more saws but you can help with plaster or lumber. I just keep clicking even after the "you sent 5 parts" message and it works.

Building level 10 requires 86 parts, I'm told.

ReplyDeleteI cannot find the missionlink v1.0.3 Where is it?? I was looking for in my spocklet toolbar but I cannot find?? Same thing with the spockholm mafia tool. I cannot find that??
